I just went over to the "New Way" site to see what it was all about. I joined and my membership is pending. We’ll see after I post this if I will be accepted. Below is the mission statement for the “New Way” site with some comments of my own in CAPS.
“New Way (MORE CATCHY THEN NOWAY) was born to be a helpful site for our new hire flight attendants. It's a user friendly, positive site. Questions are always welcome!!!” (UNLESS THEY ARE QUESTIONS ABOUT REPRESENTATION, REGARDLESS IF YOUR PRO, CON OR UNDECIDED, THOSE TYPES OF QUESTIONS ARE JUST NOT GOING TO BE ALLOWED, BECAUSE, WELL, FRANKLY WE CAN'T AGREE WITH ANYTHING THAT IS PRO REPRESENTATION EVEN IF WE AGREE WITH IT! ) “New Way is managed by 6 terrific new hire flight attendants with support from 3 seasoned veterans”.
“New Way is an extension of the Flying D. This page is designed for proud wearers of the Flying D. We support our company and we support one another.” (BUT ONLY IF YOU DON’T SUPPORT REPRESENTATION, THEN WE DON’T WANT YOU HERE OR ON OUR AIRPLANES! ) “New Way is a safe place to come to ask questions,” (UNLESS YOU MAY HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT REPRESENTATION) “share flying experiences, post swaps and drops, offer best practices, and express our desire to continue our 85 year history as union free flight attendants.” (AHHH THERE IT IS, 85 YEAR HISTORY AS UNION FREE AND WE DON’T WANT TO EVEN ENTERTAIN THE THOUGHT BECAUSE AFTER ALL ITS BEEN THAT WAY FOR 85 YEARS!!! EXCEPT OF COURSE FOR THE PILOTS, BUT THEY DESERVE REPRESENTATION AND WE FEEL THAT FLIGHT ATTENDANTS SHOULD JUST BE HAPPY WITH WHAT THE COMPANY GIVES AND THEN TAKES AWAY, ITS BEEN OUR TRADITION FOR 85 YEARS AND WE’RE PROUD OF IT! )
“We do not debate here, we do not actively engage in support for representation. If you desire representation, this is not the site for you.” (SO IF YOU’RE A NEW HIRE AND WANT REPRESENTATION DO NOT JOIN THIS SITE, WE DON’T WANT YOU AND ARE SORRY THAT YOU WERE HIRED. WE OBVIOUSLY NEED BETTER SCREENING IN HUMAN RESOURCES.) “Promoting unions will not be tolerated on New Way.” (WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!!!! ARE WE SURE THAT SANDY,RICHARD AND JOANNE ARE NOT ADMINS ON THIS SITE?) “We reserve the right to dismiss members(JUST LIKE THE COMPANY RESERVES THE RIGHT TO FIRE YOU) if we sense their comments are repeatedly not in line with the mission of our page”. (BOTTOM LINE, WE ONLY WANT TO HEAR WHAT WE WANT TO HEAR AND NOT WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY, ITS BEEN AN 85 YEAR TRADITION AT DELTA AND WE LIKE IT THAT WAY)
WHAT A SAD COMMENTARY. INSTEAD OF CREATING A SITE WELCOMING NEW HIRES THEY CREATE A SITE THAT OPENLY EXCLUDES NEW HIRES THAT MAY SEEK KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION. THIS SPEAKS VOLUMES ABOUT THE CREATORS OF THIS SITE AND THE BLINDING FACT THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY OR SENSITIVITY TO SUPPORT THEIR OWN BELIEF SYSTEM. SO NEW HIRES TAKE NOTE, UNLIKE THIS SITE THAT WELCOMES HEALTHY DEBATE, NEW WAY WILL NOT. UNLIKE THIS SITE THAT WELCOMES ANTI UNION PEOPLE INTO THE CONVERSATION, NEW WAY WILL NOT AS THEY SAY "TOLERATE" UNION SUPPORTERS. THIS SITE IS BORN OUT OF THE DELTA CULTURE THAT GIVES YOU NO JOB SECURITY, NO REPRESENTATION, NEAR BOTTOM IF NOT BOTTOM BENEFITS OF LARGE CARRIERS. I WONDER IF THE PROUD WEARERS OF THE FLYING "D" PIN HAND OUT BLIND-FOLDS, EAR PLUGS AND GAGS WHEN THEY GIVE YOU THE FLYING D PIN? IT HAS GIVEN NEW MEANING TO THE "D".....DENIAL ! think they'll let me join?
