Yeahhh... WHAT EVER!

Eight bags... two bags... three... they’re makin’ a ton money on the FEE!

im just curious if as long as the company is making big money on the bag fees would the union in the upcoming negotiations ask for as piece of the pie? It sure seem the govt wants a heck of a big piece of the pie

Profit Sharing was given up in return for the pension. To get it back would certainly be a difficult negotiation, although one that I'd support. I'm personally for the elimination of Triple Play; I don't know anyone that works harder or acts differently to get it. In addition, many that get the 3Play award don't have anything to do with the relevant matrices. An example would be the payroll department. In return, bring back profit sharing. If the Company does well it pays, if it doesn't, there's no extra.

We are about to enter section six negotiations... wages... job protection... health care costs... and retirement... are the big issues.

Profit Sharing in essence... should be contractually secured by the worth of the agreement. However... if the Company wants to ADD this to the aforementioned goals... we should take it!

All this will have to be determined at the table... and then ultimately in our own collective minds in ratification.

I use the term collective very loosely... as it seems to diminish the further west we go from the Mississippi River!

So directs the fire...

Neci,
we already had the pension . from BK2. RC felt obligated to give the company Profit Sharing back
as part of his "what can I do to help the company out mode". As far as getting it back . I highly doubt
you will ever see that again. The stockholders don't like sharing the wealth. Usually that is thrown in
in a concessionary contract to move things along

The IAM did not give the company back their pension the BOD decided not to allow it and had Judge Rubber Stamp remove it.

he was referring to the Profit sharing not the pension .. reread his post

I was at CCY and in Alexandria during BK II, your pension was frozen in 1992, and terminated in 2005.

I am talking about profit sharing.

Hopefully the concession stand is really closed.

It is time for bargaining groups to look for a share of the profits in their wages, not one time payouts.

It is even in your realm that maybe just maybe you are wrong once in a while.
Necrigrad.. insinuated that we negotiated getting the PENSION in Lieu of PROFIT SHARING..
I was just informing him that we already had the PENSION..

Maybe I'm slightly confused. I KNOW I was told the PS was given up for something to do with the pension. Maybe it was a pension increase or something. I remember that this happened because it was presented as a "no loss" item; a profit was not forseen for the near and far future, so it wasn't actually giving up anything. So they said...

The pension was a concession given in 2003.

After looting the profit sharing contained in the east contract to share with non-members under a TWU contract, Canale decided to be the only union to finally give up profit sharing altogether. I believe the passenger service still have profit sharing.

Canale, and his kind, hate the members. He's most likely the worst company man most of us have ever seen. Agreeing with the company to screw over members to put them back at the bottom of the pay scale just because they got laid off was the most anti union action of genocide to get rid of senior people that we will ever experience. Such an action never even entered into the mind of any other union leaders.

Thankfully, we have a democratic union to remove and cleanse company men/women from doing the company's dirty work within our union.

The BOD removed the profit sharing the language permitted it.
