Very disappointed in election results. You guys are going to suffer in the long run. I cannot wait until the merger when the new posts for IAM will be, "why is United Fleet making 2.00-3.00 an hour more than us"? This thread will be going on until at least 2015 until you are allowed to hit the tables. 18 cities will be outsourced to UA and forget about the 60 day rule because most, especially on the WEST will be the "furloughed" employees. It is a very sad day to say the least. To think you settled for less on the new TA.

As far as Canale is concerned, you can vote him out in June but because you foolishly voted YES you will NEVER BE RID OF HIM because of his position for UA.

I expect early next week we will hear confirmation of UA merger agreement. They were all waiting on your votes guys, they won the battle and now you made us very PRETTY for a definate merger. So, so sad.

yes congrat PHX you got what you wanted, the future will tell how many of you will be around any length of time to enjoy the "benefits" you voted yourself just don't come on here complaining remember you made it happen

Well kids I tried to push you off the tracks, but now your going to be hit by the train. Don't say we didn't warn you.

I think that the IAM was very effective in getting out the idea that
the west stations would be put into the east contract if they
didn't vote this in. One station I talked to with a 12% geo
was a yes due to the fear of going into the east contract. I was
the first person they talked to who even challenged that, So
In spite of all the loses they will incur they still voted yes.

I'm going to try to not blame myself. Its tough when the union
has all the resources and can go to each station and not be challenged.
Here in SAN the yes votes were mostly for the money.

Is the same thing going to happen June 5? Same voting plan? Easy
for Canales side to vote and hard for the opposition?
Thanks BF
No.
I don't think it would matter anyways since most stations are focued on cleaning the union up. Take for instance your station SAN. While it's true that you supported this contract, it doesn't necessarily follow that you support Canale. I doubt Canale could get one vote out of SAN. When you add the MKE [west side] and BUF [east side] tallies for this contract it was like 77-2. But I can assure you that I don't know of one person at either station that will even think of voting for Randy.
The vote in June is at the locals and absentee ballots were already signed also. The important thing is that we must continue building respect and solidarity because IMO workers NEVER win in a merger.

I think the IAM wanted to put out the numbers last night, so look for the results to come out today. My guess is about 63% Yes votes.

And many were warned that this would be the case. Be careful who you all take advice from!
not a matter of taking advise from someone imo more like our sleazy union leadership doing everything possible to load the vote in the manor the UA board member wanted

I will look forward to official results sometime today myself and hope its a positive outcome.
Now one note, some of you might want to look at a Pittsburg Post Gazette article posted yesterday May 9th about a possible merger with UA.
In it Parker has stated and yes I know how can we trust him. If we come together he would be in favor of putting everyone in the higher cost contract.
Darn sure doesnt sound like waiting till what was it Tim 2016 till we got something better if we voted this in and went with UA.
Anyway Im gald we had a good turnout it seems most people due care about there future afterall.
Good luck to all.

Philly, isnt this the case on the East as well? Guys in my Station ( CLASS II ) could not afford to live on this Salary. So it came down, in our Station atleast, the 20+ year employee looking for some more cash. We CAN NOT afford to live on just over $15 bucks an hour. Our Class I Station have made how much MORE then us for the last how many years? Look at the results of that election, the Class II Stations were a BIG NO VOTE while the Class I Stations sold out their Union Borthers/Sisters for the bigger pay check.

Wow, Nice JOB to the YES voters, you really shot yourself in the foot on this one. Enjoy your raise in the west, because you'll need the extra cash when you're unemployed over time.

Thanks for letting your fellow brothers and sisters on the Ramp down.

Mr. Parker… made an identical statement several years ago… concerning the America West US and Airways Merger! It would be naive for us to think that we will be transitioned into the UA agreement without a lengthy round of Transition Talks and Proposals.

If nothing else... this US Agreement will be used as leverage to pull the existing UA contract down during traditional section 6 negotiations at the end of 2009.

The thing I find most ironic… is that the very geographic, that predominantly were in favor of this agreement, will probably never see the UA/US transition agreement.

Look for this merger to result in at least a 20% reduction in overall capacity. Overlapping routes… unprofitable, and redundant stations will suffer dearly in the first stages.

West… I respect your position… I am furious at the IAM Leadership for orchestrating this vote in the manner they did! I will spend every once of energy I have to remove the current leadership!

It is on Farce!

WEST.... THE BUS IS ON THE WAY.....

I find it intresting that I and the IAM leadership were accused here of doom and gloom over this deal and that we must vote it in. Now that if this is the case, now your doing the same over this merger. More doom and gloom about how many are going to loose out and there jobs.
I pefer to wait and see. Noone can predict what will happen if we merge again, lets all just wait and see.

Fuzz did you not see the post here from the union guy (District Force) stating he thought about 1800 jos lost mostly from the west? or do you just chose to ignore it?

The thing that truly amazes me here is the number of small stations voting yes.......The ones that are the most vulnerable........

Hope this all works out for you guys in the smaller stations....

Like I said Good Luck
I guess now would be a good time to buy stock in UHAUL/HERTZ. These numbers don't surprise me, sadly enough.

I cant believe it passed. After reading the last few weeks threads on this topic I thought it would be 75% no. WOW.

Funny how we BS each other and say "Oh yeah, I'm a no vote" but when it comes down to it, everybody really do only think about themselves. That's the only CONSISTENT thing I've seen in my tenure at HP/US.

One thing that is kind of nice, all those who voted no wil get the opportunity to watch the "YES" voters scratch and claw as they are being shown the door when the furloughs begin!!! Funny listening to their comments....but they promised if I voted Yes!!!
