when it comes down to it, everybody really do only think about themselves. That's the only CONSISTENT thing I've seen in my tenure at HP/US.

Great statement!!! That is why unionism is dying in this country, everyone is just thinking about themselves and not the group as a whole. The company has the numbers and they simply throw a tidbit here and there to the different groups, whether it be extra vacation for the junior ones, better pension for the senior ones, and before you know it the POS passes!! And the company laughs all the way to the bank!!!

Agreed with AP_Tech, its always nice to be the one saying "I told you so," and we will definately be in that position soon. As Rat Boy said "Good Luck at the Next Job, Sucka!"

Funny how we BS each other and say "Oh yeah, I'm a no vote" but when it comes down to it, everybody really do only think about themselves. That's the only CONSISTENT thing I've seen in my tenure at HP/US.

I agree and disagree with that.

I disagree with accusing the no voters (especially ones on this board) of saying they were voting no but not doing it. We had A LOT of no votes. I think Roa, Dirt, O-man, and a lot of others ran a really tough & formidable vote no campaign.

However, I do agree that ppl think of themselves mostly when voting in a contract. They have to.... ppl are hungry out there. They threw us a porkchop and we bit, myself included!! I was one of the biggesst YES supporters. I needed a porkchop right now and with my senoirity I don't worry about furloughs as much. (Not to say it's not possible however I think unlikely)

Is that a union way to think....hell no but it has become my reality. My personal exspenses...gas for my home, gas for my car, electricity, food costs, etc, have skyrocketted. And I know I'm not alone out here. If I am already a topped out eastie in a class I station, I truly cannot imagine how these families did it in class II stations or out west. Again, I needed that porkchop, and was NOT convinced they would be back to the table. But don't be too hard on me folks...3 out of my last 5 stations have been outsourced....I have been there & done that...I know it's no fun.

Also...a shoutout to Tim Nelson...I haven't been his biggest fan nor have I gone easy on him...but his words that he has expressed since the unofficial results have come in are 100% class. He is a TRUE union brother.

Again thanks to all the yes votes keeping us at the bottom for everything (below Jetblue & Airtran even). We will be at the bottom for years to come while chances are other airlines will keep going up. Enjoy your money....if your here long enough to enjoy it.

Oh & by the way welcome to square 1 yet again. When we merge with UAL it'll be deja vu. United will be making more per hour, better vacation, shift pay, double time, profit sharing etc. While US Airways stays below United with the pos T/A that just got yessed in. They will have an option in 2009 while we on the other hand well...Oh yeah it'll be 2011 for us unless there's a transition T/A & we know what will happen there. The union & the company will scare & convince you to settle for another pos T/A (probably worse than the on we just got).

Wish more people would've actually read the pos & not just the pay scale. Maybe if they we actually informed about what was in there & how the company & union are screwing us things would've turned out different. But then again a lot of those yes votes will be gone so I guess they can all thank themselves.

P.S. Just wanted to give a friendly good by & good luck to the west coast.

Fan you are right…

One needs to look no further than the astronomical NO percentage CLT rendered!

I am so proud of my brothers and sisters here! We used to be considered the weakest link in terms of solidarity with PHL being the strongest. Now, I would not hesitate to say…we are among the most solid Fleet Groups in this industry!

Thanks fer tha kind words…With an attitude, and honesty like that… I will have tahh invite yahh to our pig pickin’ here in good ole CLT in July! We ain’t cookin’ pork chops though!

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am disheartened by the vitriol being expressed by my union brothers and sisters at both the outcome of this contract, but also toward the needs and desires of a plurality of the membership. I am, however, neither shocked nor amazed.

Over the last several months, I have watched our fellow posters degrade our unity by extolling everything that is wrong with our union, the company, the West, the East, Philadelphia, Randy Canale, Phoenix, Charlotte, tentative agreements, and countless other trivialities that did nothing but further the goals of Mr. Parker. It has been rare to see anything substantive in the ways of recommendations of direction from anyone on this board; rather, it has been, and continues to be, a tirade of innuendo, lies, rumor, and speculation.

The facts of what took place on May 8th are indisputable. The reasons for what took place shall become the questions for the ages. I know in my heart my choice was the right one, and I'm sure each and every person that participated feels the same way. When I go back to work on Monday, I shall continue to fight the corruption of this company, as I have done for many years. I shall attempt to maintain the unity that has found itself among my coworkers and friends. I shall not count yesterday as the beginning of the end, but rather, the end of the beginning.

We are now one union. Our battles have not ended. We must continue our fight: for our brothers and sisters; for our families; and, for ourselves. To paraphrase Churchill, "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for every other one that has been tried".

Long live the democracy.

this means an almost living wage for us in phx. one should always consider another vocation. no job is secure forever. if you didn't work in this industry.. what would you consider doing?

this means an almost living wage for us in phx.

''Almost'' is the key word. I apologize for the lack of turnout in PHL. Over
950 people did not participate and they'll be the ones wondering,''what
happened''?

Good luck to all, we'll have four more years to almost make a living wage.

Thanks

One union , yes... and you fought hard for your raise. I hope you still have LOTS of fight in you, because now, you will have to fight to keep your job.

Thanks for the kind words. I really hope all the No voters join in and move forward. In any case, IMO, we have no choice but to move forward because these airlines are destroying the wage and benefits in this industry and will continue to do so with mergers. There can be no anger shown towards PHX, the west, or even strong Yes votes over on the east side like BOS. CLT, PHL, PIT have great leadership and I have been on the phone with all of them and they all realize that we must even draw closer going through a merger. The thing we can not possibly afford is to have Parker play the US AIRWAYS workers against the United workers like he did on US AIRWAYS property.

To continue building solidarity there must be space given to difference of opinon. It's called respect.
I don't think this is a hard thing to do, it's an easy thing to do if we can forget about our egos and realize there is nothing to gain by fretting over the past.

regards,
Tim Nelson

Nut…

I have no problem with democracy… Its “taintedâ€￾ democracy that I have a problem with!

You will see the same level of resolve, and determination that we (Fleet) just displayed here in this vote, in the June elections.

The current IAM Leadership is not representing this Fleet Group accordingly.
I think you know exactly what I mean…

Fleet Service come together… we have one more little issue to address in June !
