That says it all right there... What kind of union leader uses a kiosk?

I know you didn't ask me, but I say let the employees decide to the fullest extent possible.

Kev3188,
Did not mean to exclude anyone from my posted question. I post questions for everyone's input. I believe we agree on how this situation in BUF should have been handled by the District. Arbirtrarily signing a LOU, that affects the livelihood and careers of members, without the input of the members affected, is risky at best. Worst case senario it sends the message to members your career and livelihood can be flushed with the stroke of a pen from your district President without your input. Unfortunately, the options available, were not good for our members in BUF. My point is, the affected members deserved better representation, compassion and presence from the district during such turbulent times. In closing, it is important to remember who the true opponent is going forward. Rest assurred it is not us.

I am not agreeing with how it was handled but you do realize arbitration usually takes three years to get there.

700UW,
I understand arbitration can take some time. My point is the affected members should have been given the options and choice. These members are now out on furlough, displaced or commuting to retain their employment. A hardship I would never wish on anyone. A hardship, only those affected can truly appreciate. With these circumstances I believe any remedy, regardless of time frame, may have been beneficial. They should have at least been given the choice.

While I can sympathize with what took place in BUF, they were not the first or only station to get screwed by the IAM. It's kind of funny that a majority of the leadership and membership didn't even bat an eye when over 20 TWENTY stations were outsourced in 2005. As many of us found out later, it was a mere tradeoff for catering.
It's too late for any leadership team to undo the damage that has already occurred. With the last round of stations being outsourced, there is nothing left to save. If anyone wants to impress me, get some of this outsourced work back. The cwa group still retains MANY stations that fleet has lost. How many people are aware that it takes over 90 mainline flts to get fleet work back that was lost at half that number? Who the Hell agreed to that crap?

Even if the district grieved it they would still be in the same boat, and it would still take three years to be heard.

The outcome of them being on furlough, moving or commuting wouldnt have changed.

It was a bankruptcy CBA slightly amended for the transition. And your fellow fleet service members ratified the CBA.

And before I get the infamous line of how the membership
Voted for it, let me once again respond. Those that voted in favor, weren't the ones that were going to get screwed.
Thrown under the bus bigtime......

Oh, you beat me...how did I know you were going to respond as you did. I would vote for a nice big new mall as long as it wasn't going to be in my part of town too..
Membership screwing membership, what a concept..:.

Is it not the truth?

No one else voted on it except US Fleet Service, spin it however you want, but thats the reality of the situation.

My fellow members in the class 1 stations that were going to keep their jobs...
Why do you always overlook that FACT?

The facts are the facts, everyone had a chance to read the CBA and make a choice, thats the bottom line, your coworkers voted on it and ratified it.

I suppose the company stacking the vote in their favor is meaningless.
Give yourselves 60% of the voters in class 1 stations, and the vote is over before the first ballot is cast. My union at work.....
The Iam can do no wrong in your blurred eyes....
Sorry Budd, I ain't buyin it.

Never said that, do you realize your CBA is the result of three rounds of concessions in chapter 11 bankruptcy, and you got the opportunity to get a transition agreement.

Bottom line it is what it is and the damage is done, many of your coworkers warned what would happen, and they didnt care, thats human nature.

Please..... You and I both know the Company Stacked the deck. Being part of the IAM Team at that point, what was the vote in Class I and Class II Stations??? On a personal note, do you think it was right ? And dont give me the PC answer. The Class II Cities got screwed for years while the Class I cities only cared about themselves, period. And I guess that is why I cared less about what happened to PIT ! As they say, what goes around comes around.

The same old lame ass broken record response, I expected no less....
How thankful I am that you are no longer in a position to bargain for anyone....
