Nice Avitar.

No when any committee is doing grievance work, they are paid by the company, that is contractual.

Problem is that they aren't doing greivance work and aren't even grievance committeeman. The 3 'real grievance committeemembers' are off the schedule doing grievances now. Either the company is paying these 3 former committee guys [conflict of interest indeed] or the union is. I believe the union is since they are not participating in any grievance hearings nor are they authorized to. This is apparently the work of JR and has been approved by BW. BW will be the next target if he doesn't clean up his act and stop disrespecting fleet service.

In fact, none of these 3 are even shop stewards.

So much for there loyalty to their membership and the union . Especially the one new comer RR that said "I've been a union man

for 25 yrs". Gee I guess your only union men when the COMPANY lets you sit at the lodge for 40 hrs a week but when you have

to become the rank and file you just become a member.

Tim,

Someone in CLT needs to question it and if they dont get to the bottom of it contact the International.

The three in question are local lodge officers.

700,
I believe MC is the only one still holding a position on the E- board the other 2 are just members now

Nope, your wrong.

FC is the VP of the lodge and MC and RR are Trustees.

His self proclaimed bigotry and anger towards certain types of rampers and his other character traits and language are those of management and your current AGC's. Mark him.

It's profane to the ramp family [east and west] for such utterance against rampers. The problem isn't rampers but the disrespect management has shown to the human beings who work for your company. People are people, and southwest rampers arent' superior to US AIRWAYS rampers. Google TWU 555 and you will see all the delays over at Southwest. More importantly, even though Southwest rampers are making $24hr, check out their opening statement from real negotiators which are asking for even more benefits and more wages. Unlike Benedict Canale who tries to beat fleet service down by saying 'the environment has changed' and talking about $100 oil. The environment has changed, it's not a stormy bankrupt environment but it is sunny and 70.

As aside, based on Canale, it's hard to say anything is being negotiated like the fleet service mandate intended. I fully believe that fleet service needs to get ready for a battle. I know fleet has some battle scars and wounds but the company, with Benedict Canale on its side are coming to the fortress to take the transition. The only thing that can stop that is our continued unity and we must have shields on and swords held high. Must not let the company take the transition unless a fair and equitable contract can be achieved. Fleet service must hold its position and not retreat until that happens. The company and Benedict Canale have seriously underestimated Fleet service's resolve so the troops must rally for a battle that may ensue quickly.

For Fleet service!

Sorry, to have crashed yours and O-man's "Mutual Admiration Society" and "The Collective Groupthink Party" since joining this board a few months ago, but if people cannot accept differing points of view, especially those based on sound reasoning and factual data, then reality will continue to be a bitter pill.

What I find curious is when I make assertions supported by facts (US numbers vs Southwest, relative average wages in the US, IAM failing to represent West in a timely manner, IAM defending drunk ramp agents, Some East members refusal to work in bins alone, etc.), I am called a "bigot" and how "it's profane to the ramp family [east and west] for such utterance against rampers" instead of addressing the issues. It is "profane" to speak the truth? My blinders will have never fit me so well as when have someone from my union telling how to think and what to say.

Tim, I use to think that you had some merit, even if it was somewhat misguided. However, I have come to realize that your views are distorted and twisted. Ideas that Boss Canale would be playing tennis with Parker, or that some ground swell of anti-IAM feelings with rise up against Canale and remove him from power, or within this current economy and industry a "Glory Days" contract to be fleasible, or that I am even someone important within management or the union. All of those aforementioned ideas are the suggestive machinations of some conspiracy of people out against "us" and you. If the choice is between Boss Canale and his gang of Do-Nothing Clones or your candidate of March Hare with a supporting cast of Mad Hatters, I'll vote for the apathetic Devil I know.

Now Jester will peer into his crystal ball for what the future portends....

Already foretold of the CIC going down in flames;
Boss Canale will stay in power;
IAM will offer a similar TA to the previously rejected TA that will pass;
Southwest will continue to beat US Airways metrics;
You will become the Harold Stassen of ORD;
and Jester will continue to be labeled a "bigot" for speaking openly and honestly.

So Forebodes Jester. 😛h34r:

Any union is bound by law to represent every member no matter what they do.

Guess you never heard of the "Duty of Fair Representation".

And Alcohoilsm is covered under the ADA and is a disease, guess you did not know that also!

Once again you cant compare WN to US, two totally differant operations.

You have to compare US to AA, UA, NW, CO or DL.

And you wouldnt know the truth if it came up and bit you in the rear end!

If doug and his merry band of thieves cna get a raise for ruining this company, the rank and file employees who keep this company going deserve one also!

Some East members refusal to work in bins alone

Jester,
This is just silly. I for one will not work a bin alone. It is a safety issue for me. Now I can't speak for all East rampers, but I ma sure that it is the same for them. Granted there may be some "lazieness" with some East Rampers, but I assure you, not with the senior guys I know. It becomes a safety issue when you see people injuring themselves because they tried yo go the extra mile for this company. "Going the extra mile" went out the window when it comes to personal safety. JMHO.

PJ,
jester's hate for rampers and his 'self proclaimed bigotry against those with more seniority' are clear and are a 'close kin' to racism, thus his opinion is corrupted. His finger pointing 'roots him out' and his endless love letters on this site only started appearing the same time your AGC's started appearing in your breakrooms. His interest is a bit more deeper than he is letting on. Anyways, his contempt for rampers and labeling them as 'lazy' and then suggesting that the human beings at Southwest come out of a phone booth is nonsensical and disturbing.

One need only go to the TWU 555 web site and read the fine mess Southwest has. The difference is what 700 rightfully pointed out....Southwest controls their own delay reporting, unlike US AIRWAYS. Anyways, Jester should start a new thread about southwest because this thread is about IAM Fleet service at us airways that are grossly underpaid and ready to '#### slap' management again whenever fleet receives another goofy TA.

Go to the TWU website, at $24hr, they just opened up negotiations 5 days ago and are asking for a big boost in wages, pension, benefits. Unlike Boss Canale who sez, "The environment has changed".

700,
I guess "Duty of Fair Representation" went out the window when the I'll Ask Management took over representing the West epmoloyees. Fair Representation would have been to continue section 6 negotiations. So what was fair about not negotiating for the West under section 6? So with that said. I guess the I'll Ask Management has never heard of "Duty of Fair representation" or they would have had or been close to having a CBA for the West to vote on already, instead of sitting on their hands hoping Dougweeiser would throw some table scraps their way to bring East and West together. Wee all saw where that got them.

I think FC and MC made the 'right choice' not to be shop stewards. OTOH, while me and RR have been at odds over his endless support of Canale and JR, I personally would do whatever I could to bring RR into supporting the 'new direction' team. I think he ultimately is a labor guy, unlike MChris, FC, Canale and JR.
RR has an ego like all of us and may still be pissed but I'd like to get everyone on the same page as the 'new direction' ticket moves forward. Right now I believe CLT 141 members are about 95% on the same page but it's always worthy to try to pitch a shutout. Not sure if RR shares those feelings though. At any rate, the Februrary CLT meeting needs to have several hundred to nominate and elect the new direction team and then have over 1,000 to show up in the June general election. Canale and JR have corkscrewed CLT over the years and JR needs to be there at the local when his own membership gives him his February reward for his treason against his members.

BTW, 700 is right about who's the local officers, still, need to clarify for BW that this is BS and he shouldn't be releasing funds or allowing the company to get involved in the union politics that are in the 'February wind'.

Rumor has it that that they are a newly formed pom-pom committee to assist in campaigning for Randy and his appointed CLT General. I know that they make up the VP and 2 Trustee positions along with the Trustee they appointed to Safety Chair, but are they allowed to fast track Local Lodge funds by forming a committee that uses these union dues as "Campaign Funds" without the vote of the membership?
If Randy could do this trick system wide, he could essentially have access to millions to further his campaign. Only problem is that accessed dues money could have been collected from brothers and sisters outside the District.
I looked in the IAM Constitution and the 141 bylaws and could not find limits or regulations to campaign funds. It is crazy that a "Legitimate Opposing Slate" could have such a mountain to climb with the limited funds they have in a District election. Money cant buy you solidarity though. It will take each and every one of us to show our support for the new slate if we want to take a different tack.

Rat tales,
I think the word should get out in CLT that JR and BW are doing this because of politics. Find out who's paying first. If it's the union then we can address that. If it's the company then that may be a 'federal violation' that the new direction team can pursue, unless your local management can give a pretty darn good reason why they are all of the sudden paying for 6 guys to be off the clock instead of normal and customary 3.
I also think that it's time for JT to consider running against B "Tommy Boy" W. When is his election because he must be 'exercised' so the local will finally be cleaned up from all contempt and disrespect BW has shown against fleet service workers. Securing the grievance committee was only the first step in this process. I'll call JT and mention this to him.

You cant use union funds for campaigning, ask Ron Carey from the IBT about that.
