IAM Mech. & related thread

Four days and not so much as a nibble on this thread! Every AMT out enjoying their pay raise and extra week vacation? Well how about a little input on this item of interest, the ten hour shift. Anybody out there working the ten hour shift? Does it include lunch? What's an example of shift start times? What stations have the ten hour shift? Does it look like any east stations will be going ten hour in the near future? Just thought I'd ask and stir the pot a little. Living the dream.

Need some input from West guys about ten hour days, I dont think any station on the east side works 10 hour days unless you count swapping then those are 16 hour days. Some one enlighten the east please!

Haven't been to work yet today(it's monday), the shift bid comes out today, days and swings were 4/10's but are going back to 5/8's. Graves is staying 4/10"s. Personally I love 4/10's, it is better for a grave shifter in as much as you actually have 2 full days off. 5/8"s for a grave shift person would suck.

As far as I know all the west stations have a 10 hr midnight shift. Some of the smaller line stations have 10 hrs on days and swings for better coverage with less people.
Hope this helps.

Well...... The first wave of east mechanics are on the way out west. Report date is June 2nd. Most of them have been on the road for years. Don't look at them as a senior mechanic but someone with years of experience. Good luck to all that are going to take this bold step.

Any west mechanics are welcome to transfer to PHL. We have new hires working 2nd shift.

M&R thread at the bottom of page 3. Guess I'm the only mech without a life cause here I go again. What about the OPERATIONAL EMPLOYEE INTEGRATION (OEI)? Think it will happen sooner than later? I called in sick last week and only got 4 hours sick pay although my bank is well over 800 hours. Rechecked the TA and sure enough that's right, no 8 hour sick pay till OEI. Anybody work seventh day overtime expecting to be paid at double time? Another OEI clause yet to kick in. Also no reduction in force till OEI. How hard will the company push for an early OEI to get rid of some of us? The IAM better do some FOOT DRAGGING and take this (OEI) out the full 6 months. Sick and DT pay are of no use if out of a job. Save the layoffs for the holidays. As always "If it flew in it will fly out".

Are any East stations getting the six additional swaps yet, or is it on hold until 3rd quarter (July 1)? I've heard rumors some are getting the six, some are getting unlimited, but some are limited to 20 per quarter.

 Nothing has chaned at Pit. OEI is the date for the changes. If it doesn't float down hill ,nobody will stick their neck out. Do you expect anything different from management ?

No "official" word on the extra swaps, lots of rumors. Second week of June will be telltale, as that is when all those who do the double swaps hit their 20. I do not understand why changing the swaps from 20 to 26 would be a problem with this "crack" IT department and Workbrain. Most would assume all you have to do is go into the program and change the "0" to a "6"!!! Sounds simple, doesn't it? Of course you forget who you are dealing with!! No sign of any union officials for clarification, typical Usair...nobody has the answers!!!

Hold on to your wallets, the IAM is proposing a big time dues hike.

Guess we gotta keep AGC's and above from "sharing the pain".

I did see that in the newsletters one of the guys had. Looks like they are trying to make it an across the board 2% of your gross not counting OT. Take the average mechanic, and that doubles his dues!!! Not many happy campers and many looking on becoming dues objectors!!! Now before we hear "u cannot vote".......well just my opinon I really doubt my vote counts on anything really important anyway!!!!

It will be voted at the Grand Lodge Convention in Sept. By delegates not by membership.

Guess we will see if they are really our delegates or just puppets!!!!
