What's new

? is this a result of SHARES ?

The main difference here is that SABRE actually worked/ Shares does not. Remember that Sabre is a GLOBAL system while Shares is a poor inhouse system that only 1 other airline uses. Shares is simply an inept second rate wannabe, that will never be anything more. If we continue with this dog we will never be anything but second rate. If your not the lead dog the view never changes.

Sandcastle is LEADING the Way on How to become a Second Rate Airline.

At least they are leading in something.

You guys whine like little girls... Seriously, get a grip. The same thing happened the first time when USAir switched from pacer to sabre.. Everyone whined bitched and moaned, then after about 6-9 months most caught on and loved it.

If you can't learn a fewnew key strokes with out throwing a tantrum like a 9 year old girl, you deserve all the pay cuts.
When USAirways bought into SABER they bought the strip down version there was a lot of whining bitching and moaning, then after about 6-9 months there were a lot of upgrades and task forces that consisted of agents and a lot of improvements came. If you were an USAirway agent during that time you would know this and have some understanding of what transpire

yes , there was complaining ,but sabre still worked. There were no problems with international . Sabre was abit more keystroke intensive than pacer but it did what you asked it to do and if you entered something incorrectly , it told you. Does shares do that ? no. Try looking up international availabilty. Shares doesn't know what it is.
Try tracking an aircraft using FLIFO. Can't do it. Try issuing an A6 for hotels, meals or cabs... Can't do it. IT can try all the fixes and patches they want , shares will still be second rate and still sucks.

This is an attempt to get a serious reply so don't flame me.

I don't actually know anything about a reservation system, but how can it be as bad as everyone is saying? Someone mentioned that no "major trunk carriers" used SHARES, but I know that Continental does. Someone said that it is a second rate system that will make US sink to the second rate, but Continental is consistently voted the best US Airline, the most admired airline, etc. People complain that it is a system for the likes of a "regional" like HP, and airlines like USA3000 and Spirit...and not for an international airline. But isn't it Continental that serves the most international destinations in the world? Continental seems fine with it, why is it so different for US employees. It seems like everyone is denying that it will simply take time to get used to or anything like that....and seem to condemn it to a total failure for the rest of its existence at US. So what is different about it (if at all) that makes it work for Continental?

as one supervisor in PHL to the AWA management that is running PHL that when USAir agents had Sabre they were like race horses...now that they have Shares they are all back in the barn.....Please face facts...Shares IS NOT for a global airline and everyone on the west needs to start thinking globally not regionally.

Because the system CO uses is a superior upgraded system..not done on the cheap!

You have got to be kidding me. The only problem we had for 1 day was in decs. We were up and running within a few days! And no meltdown!

CO apparently doesn't use the Qik overlays, they allow the agents to cut them off so the system operates like a sabre sysytem. The agents are in control not the computer.

We have gone over this before in different threads but I'll say it again...CO uses SHares We now have QIK/shares two completely different things..QIK is an overlay of shares and awa owned it ...We have begged for acces to native shares because it is similar to Sabre..but so far no one is listening

Obviously written by someone who knows nothing about working a gate or tkt counter....I was at the intl tkt counter in 98 when the switch occured and it was NO WHERE NEAR the disaster of this switch....I learned pacer when I first started and then the same year had to learn sabre..thats two system in one year and didnt have half the trouble I have with this because it JUST DOESNT WORK..after 1 or 2 weeks people were getting the hang of sabre we are now into the fourth week of qik and still cant close out flts or look up avail from phl to syd without doing it in two parts...We complain here because noone in Tempe is listening...We have sent message to the it guys over and over to no avail.....So until you stand in my shoes you have no right to critisize

Hopefully all of these features will be on the way to the East stations. I can't believe our IT dept went into migration with all these loose ends. The West stations are able to track aircraft assignments and routings using the DRS. In PHX we have automated HMT's (I think that's what the A6 you're refering too is). I know the CCC desk in PHL and CLT know how to input hotel/meal PNR's in QIK but the East BP printers aren't configured properly to print the vouchers. I hope it's fixed real soon for you guys, it will make things a little easier.

Not that it makes a difference but QIK was developed by Quantas (Quantas Intelligent Keypad). SHFT+N will get you a popup for native shares but you'll only be able to do a few functions that were ommited from QIK. 95% of the time it will tell you this functionality exists in QIK, then tell you a keypad that has nothing to do with what you wanted.

The only way to make qik/shares better...........get rid of it. No matter what IT does to it , it will never measure up to what we lost. Why do we always have to do things on the cheap? You get what you pay for. We paid nothing for qik/shares and we get nothing from it but more headaches.Lets bury this garbage before it and IT bury us.

SABER NEVER HAD ''BUSY BUSY BUSY__TIMEOUTS!
C'mon gimme a break!

This is a POS and will always be a POS!

Just wait until we get new uniforms-you think Qikie is bad, aint nuthin' like those baby blues!

Another blast from the past!

Just printed a boarding pass, still no terminal or gate info, is this related to shares? I guess they are not used to having multiple terminals in an airport.

 DCA RUNNING APPROX $6,000.00 PER DAY IN HOTEL EXPENSES DUE TO MISCONNECTIONS DUE TO SHARES. If this is how we are going to continue to do business, we won't be in business very long. We are keeping the local hotels in business for the last 4 weeks. No end in sight. THANKS TEMPE FOR ALL THE GREAT DECISION MAKING.

I somehow doubt SHARES is the driving factor delaying flights into DCA. BTW, your station is notorious for dumping on PHX every night w/ flight 656, and that started well before migration.
