According to Politico.com, McClellan called Bush everything but a white boy. It will be interesting to hear what else he has to say after the book is released.

FOX story

The original article at Politico.com:

“One of the worst disasters in our nation’s history became one of the biggest disasters in Bush’s presidency. Katrina and the botched federal response to it would largely come to define Bush’s second term,â€￾ he writes. “And the perception of this catastrophe was made worse by previous decisions President Bush had made, including, first and foremost, the failure to be open and forthright on Iraq and rushing to war with inadequate planning and preparation for its aftermath.â€￾

“If anything, the national press corps was probably too deferential to the White House and to the administration in regard to the most important decision facing the nation during my years in Washington, the choice over whether to go to war in Iraq.

“The collapse of the administration’s rationales for war, which became apparent months after our invasion, should never have come as such a surprise. … In this case, the ‘liberal media’ didn’t live up to its reputation. If it had, the country would have been better served.â€￾

Among other notable passages:

• Steve Hadley, then the deputy national security adviser, said about the erroneous assertion about Saddam Hussein seeking uranium, included in the State of the Union address of 2003: “Signing off on these facts is my responsibility. … And in this case, I blew it. I think the only solution is for me to resign.â€￾ The offer “was rejected almost out of hand by others present,â€￾ McClellan writes.

• Bush was “clearly irritated, … steamed,â€￾ when McClellan informed him that chief economic adviser Larry Lindsey had told The Wall Street Journal that a possible war in Iraq could cost from $100 billion to $200 billion: “‘It’s unacceptable,’ Bush continued, his voice rising. ‘He shouldn’t be talking about that.’â€￾

• “As press secretary, I spent countless hours defending the administration from the podium in the White House briefing room. Although the things I said then were sincere, I have since come to realize that some of them were badly misguided.â€￾

• “History appears poised to confirm what most Americans today have decided: that the decision to invade Iraq was a serious strategic blunder. No one, including me, can know with absolute certainty how the war will be viewed decades from now when we can more fully understand its impact. What I do know is that war should only be waged when necessary, and the Iraq war was not necessary.â€￾

• McClellan describes his preparation for briefing reporters during the Plame frenzy: “I could feel the adrenaline flowing as I gave the go-ahead for Josh Deckard, one of my hard-working, underpaid press office staff, … to give the two-minute warning so the networks could prepare to switch to live coverage the moment I stepped into the briefing room.â€￾

• “‘Matrix’ was the code name the Secret Service used for the White House press secretary."

This guy has more self-serving motives for this than you can shake a stick at.

Of course he does. He is making a few bucks by throwing his old boss under the bus. Were it not for the fact that most if not all of what he has supposedly said in his book has been corroborated by others and by investigations which have concluded that W and Co. lied through their teeth I would not believe a word of it. McClellan is a bit late to the party. I am sure he will get his 15 minutes of glory.

I believe it is quite telling about how Bush runs his WH. I do not recall as many books about Clinton, Bush I or even Regan after they left office.

Most of what Scot McC told,................we've known about for three years now, thanx to the Works of Newsweek/PULITZER PRIZE winning author...Michael Isikoff's ......"HUBRIS", the story of SPIN/SCANDAL, and the SELLING of the IRAQ war"

However, with the Facts EXPOSED by an GOP Insider, ...THIS stops COLD in their TRACKS,..............ANY further DENIAL, that it was/is all lies.....told by the Democrats/Liberal Media.

Bush should be IMPEACHED
Cheney/Rove and Libby should be INDICTED, and IMPRISONED !!

I get a GOOD feeling the Democratic congress is waiting until Dirty Dick Cheney and Rove are out of office, on 1/21/09.

Trust me, Cheney and Rove are only existing in a "comfort zone" for the time being !

What do you want to bet that Rove/Cheney and anyone else receive a "get out of jail free" card like Scooter did?

Maybe someone here knows if a pardon can be granted before charges are filed.

If you think that Cheney, Rove or any of these guys are going to be indicted, you're dreaming. As much as you may hate what they've done, they know a way around everything you can throw at them. As far as the "facts" being exposed... I'm not sure why we should take a disgruntled former WH employee's testament as truth, unless of course you are already predisposed to only believing certain things (which some of us here are), then you will almost certainly validate what he has to say.

In the end, the guy wants to sell books, and he and his publicists are doing the best they can to make a PR splash to boost sales. He's just trying to get on the money wagon.

How come you didn't post something like this when Dick Morris' book about Clinton came out? Wasn't he also a "disgruntled employee"?

USAir,

If it were just McClellan who wrote a book I would agree with you. There would need to be quite a bit more investigation into the accusations that he wrote about in his book. However, there have been 12 other disgruntled employees who have also written books and W is not even out of office yet. Quite a bit of what McClellan has written has already been said by others. We already know from independent investigations and from the different reasons that W and Co. have given over the years that Iraq was one big fat lie. It was a money making/legacy building venture gone terribly wrong.

I do agree with you that W and Co. will never see an impeachment/indictment. Aside from the fact that the Dems do not have a 2/3rd majority in the senate, I do not believe impeaching W or inditing Cheney, Rove or the others would be of any benefit to the US. All indictments would do is further divide the nation and divert our attention from the tasks that need our full attention. Ending the Iraqi war, the fuel cost problem, the economy, health care, environment and several others just to start.

While it is my opinion that there is ample evidence to support treason charges against them, it would serve no purpose to pursue them. The barn door is open and the horses are long gone (that's another analogy EastUS). Besides, it is not if any of them were convicted that they would actually serve any time in jail so why bother. W's legacy is already written. He will be discussed ad nauseam and I am confident that is will not be in a good way. He has, IMO replaced Pres Carter as by far the worst President in the history of this country.

THINK Cheney(on down) are permanently EXEMPT from potential prosecution ??

THINK AGAIN !

AFAIK...Only El-CHIMPO would be exempt from anything, other than bad publicity(in all the above cases, effective 1/21/09)

Possibly Libby, who has already been tried, and couldn't be retried due to Double Jeopardy.

On 1/21/09(assuming Obama is president and the Dems rule Congress).....EVERYBODY(minus Bush, and Libby)(unless different charges surfaced against Libby)...are Fair Game for Congressional Investigations

I'm NO fan of Michael Savage,.....but I did find it QUITE Interesting that his take on McC's book, was to assure him of never having to worry about a trip to the Netherlands(think ...the HAGUE)

4000 DEAD men and women,...3000 of them probably in Iraq,................WILL . NOT . BE . swept under the GOP rug so easily !!!!!!!!!!!

I did not say exempt. I just do not feel it would be in the countries best interest to go after these goons give all the serious issues they have caused/left behind for the rest of the country to fix.

Interesting......I want to see how this clown does in a hearing....afterall,his book is based upon hearsay and second hand information. If anybody and congress think he was privy to detailed classified information....which I'm sure his assertions are totally based upon  it will be fun to watch.
Will the Dem's make fools out of themselves once again or will McClelland be the pied piper of DC?

Now he's a hero

I would guess it is to the dems advantage to just let him spout off and do the talk show circut. He does more damage that way.
