I may not have had the proof that is available now but the whole thing seemed very contrived to me. I recall remembering about a story that W wanted to nail Husein for quite some time before he even became POTUS. IIRC it was to avenge his daddy.

As far as I am concerned, idiot or not, he is out there on the front page and that is what the dems want. It keeps the question of W's and by association, McCain's competence and integrity front and center. That is all the dems need/want.

Give the republicans silence over what this admin has done to this country, I hope that for that alone, the Repbs get trounced this election and next. In 2016 I would love to see a strong independent party come to light but I do not see that happening for while.

I do agree with you that W and Co. will never see an impeachment/indictment. Aside from the fact that the Dems do not have a 2/3rd majority in the senate, I do not believe impeaching W or inditing Cheney, Rove or the others would be of any benefit to the US. All indictments would do is further divide the nation and divert our attention from the tasks that need our full attention. Ending the Iraqi war, the fuel cost problem, the economy, health care, environment and several others just to start.

While it is my opinion that there is ample evidence to support treason charges against them, it would serve no purpose to pursue them. The barn door is open and the horses are long gone (that's another analogy EastUS). Besides, it is not if any of them were convicted that they would actually serve any time in jail so why bother. W's legacy is already written. He will be discussed ad nauseam and I am confident that is will not be in a good way. He has, IMO replaced Pres Carter as by far the worst President in the history of this country.

Impeachment trials are just political BS. They do not follow any rules of law. The republicans want it to happen so they can divert the headlines from what is really going on in this nation. What scares me most is the fact that the Dems seem to have a brain on this one and are kicking it out. That has got to be pissing off the republicans to no end.

Well, they follow the rule of law, just a different rule of law... one that is not as constrained as the court system. And I don't believe it is BS... it has been instrumental in the impeachment and removal of a few federal appointed positions, particularly corrupt judges.

Yeah, I think it was obvious to everyone that the repubs wanted to keep the articles of impeachment alive so that they could say: look at the dems, they are unpatriotic. Then, of course, it would be used as a rallying cry to get behind the elephants.

I did not mean to imply that impeachment it's self is BS, just the way it is used as a political tool. Nixon would have been impeached had he stayed in office and I believe that would have been an appropriate exercise of that power. I am on the fence as to whether or not the Clinton impeachment was an appropriate use. Yes he lied to a GJ. Very bad for a person sworn to uphold the USC. How ever it was based on sexual misconduct. Not sure I would not lie about getting a hummer if I were married. Hell, I know I would lie through my teeth. I do know if I do get one, I'm burning her clothing afterward.

My understanding from reading about Clintons impeachment is that 'high crimes and misdemeanors' is a vague term. Congress can interpret it as it sees fit. The rules of law are also guided by those in power. They are not the same for all people. When I think of rules of law, I think of things that (should) apply to all people equally regardless of race, religion, sex or nationality.

I still feel that the impeachment against Clinton was a political hack job that back fired on the republicans. It was designed to score political points and cater to the morality crowd. I think the trial had very little to do with actual justice.
