What's new

Non-rev Travel Policy

I can honestly say I am torn on this one. With a four hour window to list and be put on the list, I feel we are all put on the same level playing field and enforces persoanl responsibilty.

On the other hand, we don't really have much left in this industry but senority. Great when you have it...sucks when you don't.

QUESTION!!

If I am going to Vancouver from CLT and connect in PHX, will my PHX-Vancouver flight be honored at the same time I listed for the entire flight? This is where I get confused. Will I be penalyzed because I am connecting? What if the flight is late and I am 10 minutes from departure? How does all of this work?

Also, the new year is close. Is this new system going to be computerized? Now I can do all nonrev work...besides ZED tickets..at home and print boarding passes AND pay for whatever needs to be paid. I feel we are going backwards. This saves $$ by not having to bother the agents.

Replies please.

SENOIRITY is the only thing that should matter, after 20 years of putting up with airline BS, working holidays 3rd shift, weekends and during you kids soccer games, you deserve something. You will get used to it.

DOH is okay so long as the class (SA2, SA3..) matters first. It just brings a little more uncertainty to the table when non-reving, but if someone bumps with more seniority... look at as a last minute revenue purchase and get over it.

Would someone please start a poll. I would if I could figure out how. Technically challenged!

The entire airline industry is based on senority as it should be. SENORITY not who's checked in first!!!!!!

You knew when you accepted the job that you would be working holidays, 3rd shift, weekends, and during your kids soccer games (heard of swaps?), and I'm sure you gladly accepted those terms some 20 years ago so that you would have what you considered back then to be the privlege to work for the airline.

I have 26 years, and seniority doesnt mean s##t anymore. First come first serve IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO. Remember when you had 8 months with the company and you were going to MCO which had 5 seats left, and you were thrilled to death that you were getting on the flight, and them some schmuck with 25 years comes up to the counter with his wife and 3 kids and you got bumped??? remember???? That wont happen with first come first served. And that my friend, is the way it should be.

I am really growing bored with this topic.

I feel a tantrum coming on!

Hit it Babs!!

I don't think parents should have to pay to fly. They never had to at U.

Something to consider...the comment "DOH is everything" doesn't apply to non-unionized workers. Non-unionized workers get no extra perks or consideration based on "DOH". Probably a minority....but something to consider.

Why don't we just have an employe vote? 800 no#, internet, this can happen.
What would be the point? The UW people would vote for DOH while the HP people would vote for check in time. After all, isn't that what the unions are fighting about? For example, if the ramp ends up with the IAM contract, they will get a couple more dollars per hour, but will lose a week or two of their vacation time, half their paid holidays, much of their paid sick time, along with their current ability to customize their schedules via the current drop/trade policies. The list continues and involves all of the work groups, but you get the idea.

Flying by check-in time is about the only benefit the HP people will have somewhat of a fair shot at. It really doesn't matter whether anyone likes the acquisition or not - it's a done deal, and we ARE the "new" US Airways. We've got to find some way to get along with each other. Give and take must come from both sides if this thing is ever going to work. If not, we can continue to fight until the next bankruptcy comes along and possibly cause a complete liquidation.

If we keep everthing the same as we've always done it, then the merger is
futile.
Embrace change, dont stifle it
Embrace change??? Right.. Keep taking from the frontline employees. Next thing you know they will start putting flight crews up in crappy hotels. Oh, thats right, they did that Oct 1. From the Marriott Scottsdale to the #@*!!hole in Tempe. Thanks DP!

You east folks are all about take me me me stop crying face facts you were brought out call it a merger if you want As a HP employee I am sick of the crap you east spew out of your pie holes. It isnt about the east or the west it is about being fair to all. check in time is fair and gives everyone a fair chance ( in Theory ) ok

I took the early out from the company and was wondering what our status is as far
as boarding. Before the merger I was advised I would be an S4. Does anyone know?
Thank you for the help.

No No No Senority rules you should have decided to work for an airline soorner like we did and put up with senority our whole lives and now you want change and call it fair. When you get hired you get a date of hire thats it. It is yours for the rest of your time. I bet in 20years you will ask to have it changed again and call that fair.

I am tired of this argument it is stupid...Senority is the only way.
