Crew members for years have said that the amount and size of the carry on luggage passengers currently carry are the reason for so many on time departures. The boarding and deplaning process goes so much faster and smoother without the carry on luggage.

And fewer people fly because checking carry ons makes shorter flights much more impractical, thus needing fewer crewmembers.

But keep checking those carry-ons!

Oh please! Rewrite this and make more sense. But have to say that is right keep checking those carry on bags!! The boarding process is going so much more smoothly. Amazing how much faster the passengers can deplane and get to their next flights too.

Consider this:

Many of our bread and butter fliers (Preferreds) do day trips or quick trips very often. If they start checking their bags and start to arrive without them constantly, they will stop the travel with us, guaranteed. Won't take long at all until that starts affecting our bottom line. Watch what you wish for....

Thank you.

How many personal care items does one need for a DAY TRIP? Hand Baggage has always been much more restrictive in Europe...people still fly!

Thank You!

How are the baggage mishandling numbers in Europe as opposed to PHL? Think about it....

Personal care items? What? Try PowerPoint presentations, Laptops, etc.... They check those things and we lose them, it's a one shot deal..missed....

Hey wait a minute, its very unfair to put PHL there. Even on light travel days, waiting for luggage at PHL is generally longer than the flight! And I usually fly into PHL from LAS, PHX or SFO. Especially if I have to pick up some friends there and they fly US. I tell them to call me when they arrive and that is when I will leave, and I live in the Reading area. If they fly other airlines, I am down there already. CO and UA always has my bags there before I get to the baggage claim.

How about leave on time arrive on time and get your check bag in a reasonable time. WHAT A CONCEPT think it can be done

Yup, think it can be done, but it is simply NOT being done, and until it does, people won't want to check their bags. Simple, really....

How many flights do CO & UA have in PHL compared to US?

Does that matter to the customer how many flights there are on UA,CO or US if they are deplaning from their respective aircraft? Waiting 2 Hours is not realistic, hey in Reading we get a charter 737 2x a month and they have ALL bags out in less than 15 minutes and Reading is no longer equipped to handle that since US whimped out and left. They unloaded the 737 into a Ford F250 Pickup and then take it into the terminal, just 1 pickup.

If it is a labor force shortage in Philly then Doug should hire more, if its a bunch of deadbeats, get rid of them. Of course the Union will squabble, but what is their purpose, to work! So they got to be pushed alittle and they can work those Cheese Steak Bellies off a bit more.

US Wants to have a Hub in PHL, then stock it as should be.
I am just saying that,I should not be waiting 2 Hours after getting off a flight waiting for my luggage.

With the added security measures, it probably will be taking longer, even at CO and UA. I just hope that PHL gets it stuff together. I enjoy flying US for the most part.

Who cares...those short legs have all been outsourced already! It will be those outsourced crews flying our mainline time that will loose. What goes around, comes around!
