Oops. My V.P.'s unwed pregnant daughter

You know....the left is jumping all over this.....the Palin pick must have been a real BINGO for the GOP.

Caught the Big 'O' with his pants down.

Funny....what of that speech he gave last week....seems to have been forgotten all of the sudden

Its seems this young lass must be the first in the country to get pregnant out of wedlock the way the media is covering this.

Funny too....someone that age murders another and they keep their name withheld due to their age......doesn't wok if you're a conservative, huh?

Dell,

I think you are missing the point. The fact that Bristol and her boyfriend were playing hide the salami and got caught is not the issue. It happens everyday

The issue for me Sarah Palin. The issue is the fact that she is an advocate of abstinence only. She believe that this is the only sex ed that should be taught. She is an advocate of a policy that is a failure in her own family and a failure in the country. Were she to come out now and say that abstinence only does not work and that we must ALSO advocate the use of condoms and birth control pills then she will have learned something and show that she is a politician who is above the rest. Unfortunately, being a Pentecostal she is unlikely to waiver from her religious beliefs that she believes should be the policy /law of the land.

That is the issue. It's all about Sarah.

As for her name being released, the McCain campaign released the name because there was suspicion that Ms Palin was covering for the pregnancy of her daughter.

I am also very surprised that no one has commented on the irresponsibility of having a child at age 44. When a woman passes 40, the risk of child defects increases dramatically. I wonder what the thought process was on this one? Does anyone know if Pentecostals believe in birth control after marriage?

If she were the daughter of anyone other than a well to do Republican who happens to be running for Vice President, then it's okay to refer to her as a "welfare queen" who is "getting pregant to get more government money" and who "shoulda kept her legs together.

Since we are going to ba A$$inine... 😛

A "welfare queen" is an unwed 17 year old mother living in a Kansas City trailor park with Jeb working on her 3rd kid.

If she was a good Libber, she would have had it aborted and swept it under the rug.

So you are saying there was no other option other than an abortion? Like perhaps avoiding getting pregnant in the first place? According to my wife (RN) it is common knowledge that having children when you are over 40 increases the risk for child defects.

Do you want to try again or do you want to keep playing the 'extreme reaction" game.

I do not know what the answer is but I am not so sure it is fair to bring a child into the world who has Downs. I am not saying abortion is the answer either. A close friend of mind has a sisters with Downs. He will be defendant on them for the rest of his life. The physical problems he has are numerous and painful. He will never be able to be in society on his own. It is like haveing a child who will ever move out.

I understand that sometimes things are beyond ones control. Ms Palin placed her self in this risk category. She made a decision for this child that the child will have to live with. I am not sure that is fair. I am not sure how you seem to be OK with it.

What’s “crystal clearâ€￾ is that it is absolutely none of our business.

Oh except for the fact that the reps run on 'family ethics and morals' as their foundation. Here we see the family values. Why only take a pol by their words rather than actions? It is completely our business...just as a job applicant is judged not just on what they say they can do but what they have done. Do the two tie together? When they don't, that should be a big red flag.

Doesn't matter, though. Palin is just there to capture the voters that are unaffiliated and were only going to vote for hillary b/c she was a woman. Kudos to McCain for a stellar and ethical strategy...but hopefully that population isn't that large. But with the % that voted for Bush...twice...I'm afraid that our country has alot of idiots.

Wrong, wrong, WRONG. The left wants to teach kids the real FACTS about sex and it's consequences...that if you do it, there is a good chance you'll end up pregnant. But if you think you might not be strong enough to resist, CARRY A CONDOM...It's called "prevention". Sarah doesn't believe we should be telling our kids about condoms...just that they shouldn't have sex...despite the fact that the average American male starts getting a VERY strong interest in his penis from damn near birth. Then, you do the typical right wing "propel one's head firmly into the sand" and pretend that hormones don't play a role in OUR kids lives. But we can't have those "godless libs" talk about sexual protection. Somehow that is ENCOURAGING them to have sex. NEWSFLASH - kids don't need any encouragement...they'll eventually give in to the urge. Oh, they might feel guilty after the fact - but I suppose I'd rather have my kid feel guilty after the potential baby making fluids are disposed of in the condom..not as the sperm are going for the gold in search of the egg.

Your words. Absolutely not fair to take another's life. How are you okay with it?

You and KC should leave this topic because you obviously are foaming and nobody is losing their life in this private family matter.

(p.s. my wife is an RN too. So what?)

Mods -- I call for a seconded motion to close this topic.

Who said anything about taking another's life? How about having mom fight to have something other than abstinence only sex education in Alaska schools? What makes me foam is that it's being portrayed as "the right thing to do"...but if it was ANYONE who didn't have the financial means to support a child, the childs husband, and their kid, then she would have been labled a "welfare queen", because I haven't found many jobs for a high school graduate that would allow them to support a family. But the minute you start talking about teaching something than abstinence only sex ed, the immediate response is "the lefties would just suck it down the sink". What is the problem with teaching kids how to AVOID becoming pregnant should they find themselves in a situation where they don't abstain? How much room does a Trojan take up in a kids wallet?

I have not read all previous post, so I am sure someone has made this point before:

Do you think that this would be a private issue and off limits if it were the Democratic candidate?

So you are advocating teaching kids to avoid an inconvenient pregnancy with an abortion? Yes or no?
Nope. I am advocating teaching kids that, while abstinence is the only sure way to avoid pregnancy, and ideally is what you should do, if you are unable to abstain, then you should use a condom. Using a condom would have a much better chance of preventing a pregnancy, and the "need" for an abortion would not exist. When you teach abstinence only, and bury your head in the sand about condoms and prevention of pregnancy, you open the door to someone seeking out an abortion clinic.

Us lefties just can't win on this one...if I give my daughter a condom to put in her purse, should she ever find herself in a position where try as she might, her hormones and his hormones overrule common sense, then she'll at least be prepared to prevent a pregnancy - well then, I'm "encouraging my daughter to have sex". If I withhold the "pregnancy prevention" talk, or limit it to "abstinence only", the in the heat of teenage passion, when they can't help themselves anymore, then she's got a really good chance of coming home with a bun in the oven.

It seems very few adult males or females seem to remember what their teenage years were like, and what the urges were like. So we teach "abstinence only", although 99% of us preaching it DID NOT follow it ourselves.

There KC...you hit it on the head...even for Mrs.Palin...all the preaching you do about any subject...the best a parent can hope for is their children will stop and think...whether you're the Governor or the Librarian thats the best it gets.
So then....whats the big friggin' moral dilemma with this womans daughter and why is it different than any other American Mom?

I have not read all previous post, so I am sure someone has made this point before:

Do you think that this would be a private issue and off limits if it were the Democratic candidate?

Nope. Dem issues are always swift-boated out into the spotlight. It cracks me up that many of you have this continueing impression of liberal bias. Yet nobody covers the sex scandals of Republicans. And don't lie to yourself that they don't exist. HAHAHAHA. Truth is...for the past decade +, the bias has turned very strongly towards the right wing and that is where your media control rests. Just look at the crap that makes headlines. It would have you believing that the Republicans are Gods. When it comes down to it, a politician is a politician...no matter what side of the aisle. They are in the position b/c they love POWER...not serving their country. And many of them ABUSE that power...both sides. But only the Dems are ever called out for it. The most impressive thing I have seen Bush/Cheney do since getting into office (aside from demolishing the world's strongest superpower in only 8 years) was to buy out the media and truly put a slant to it. Where it used to be a 'perceived' bias towards the left, it is now an overt bias to the right. They don't even hide it.

You're funny, coop.
