PHL / LEC Elections

I am based in CLT so I do not have a vote in PHL's election, but I have gone to the website of the folks you are claiming to be experienced. Other then Ms Graf, there isn't any experience in union work that the others have to offer that could justify as experienced. In my opinion they are what you call "newbies". I do not believe being a reserve rep, an info rep and a former supervisor is a wealth of knowledge and experience. From what I have read from the others running, the E.L.C. are the least experienced in the positions they are seeking to win. If you want experienced people in that office you better go back and reread everyones qualifications. Someone who holds the positions now are much more qualified then any of these individuals. I am not saying that are not capable, I am saying they are far from experienced and to call them experienced is a joke.
well, if "experience" buys you the lack of leadership that phl currently has, i will happily make an investment in "newbies".

"experience" is but one criterion in the recipe for meaningful and equitable change.

AGREED....

I was simply responding to those flight attendants being called experienced and the poster stated they want experience in that office. Nothing they have on their campaign materials as far as I am concerned qualifies them as "experienced." You get what you vote for and if PHL's current leadership lacked experienced then maybe they shouldn't of been voted in. People need to make informed decisions not decisions based on, OH I flew with so and so once she/he was really nice or a decision based on ink-a-bink-a-bottle-of-ink. Get involved and read whats been put out by the those running, call them or email them ask them questions. Make your vote count, be proud of who you supported and support them.

Well as far as Elias goes he worked in that union office, KNOWS the contract to the letter AND on top of all that is the MOST passionate unionist I have met in quite a long time. While many years under your belt is great experience it doesn't mean you can't be VERY knowledgeable and a TRUE unionist with less years. He has fought for so many flight attendants in his time in the union and STILL does. You either have the drive and determination to be a union leader and fighting for YOUR voice or you don't. He has absolutely NO FEAR of bringing issues up to management. Throwing it RIGHT into their faces. He still receives respect from management for the shear fact that he is professional and overall a VERY nice person. I asked him once why he bothers getting all worked up and that many people out on the line just don't care anymore. Hell just look at that last local 70 voter turnout! Oh did I get an ear beating on that. His reply, "GD somebody has to stand up to these morons who will violate your contract left and right and bully you into this or that". He is the most driven unionist I have see since well......we all know who. 😉 As for Cangey he is very knowledgeable as well of the contract and is a PEOPLE person in every sense of the word. He being a supervisor before is certainly knowledge worth having. He has been on both sides of the fence and I trust that he would have everyones interest at heart. I don't think we can say that with a straight face today and the current regime. Linton is VERY experienced in other areas that are a bit more technical in nature. She would be the driving force behind redesigning the AFA website and securing it. The days of Hokie Pokie AFA bs is drawing to a close. No more winners by luck I hope. VOTE for those that will do right for ALL of us. G.E.L.C.! ! ! !

GREAT POST!!! I could not agree more...this crew has what it takes for all of us, they "get it" and we will have a strong local that want to be in office for all the right reasons...I am going to call 5 f/a's today and ask them to vote for this team, and ask that group to call 5 f/a's etc...we need to get the word out and have a STRONG turn out, even if my team of choice does not win at least get a high turn out vote!!!get on the phone and call!!!

Do you vote in your local/state/national elections based on your friends calling you and tell you who to vote for? Are you kidding me? Be an adult make your decisions based on the information put out by the those that are running. Do your own investigating of their experience, creditals and knowledge.

I want more to make a decision to VOTE! if it's not in a people or some movie star mag. many in my work group have no clue as to the world around them, not tryin to tell anyone how to vote, just get them to vote... and I have every right to promote those I fell will do the best job for all... JMHO so go have an adult bev. and chill out...BTW if your a F/A have you cast your vote?

I agree, VOTE but make an informed and intelligent decision based on fact not fiction. I am based in CLT, so I do not have a vote in the PHL election. However, the outcome in PHL should be of interest to all of us considering they are the largest base with the largest headcount. Which makes that position top dog so to speak at MEC meetings where decisions are made that effect all of us.

I for one would prefer to have a LECP in PHL who truly has the best interest of the flight attendant group at heart. Not one that has a point to make, an axe to grind or a score to settle. IMHO thats what you have with a few on your ballot up there in PHL, that doesn't make for good leadership for anyone.

Per the one thread rule, we are going to condense ALL AFA into one thread. I will remind you NOT to open duplicate threads regarding AFA business, and that ONLY moderators can start labor related threads.
