What's new

PHL-YVR!

I was close to posting that. But stopped since I looked in the schedule through the summer. Saw nothing from May up to September. Either it's just a rumor or it's just not loaded yet.

Yea!

I am a west YVR commuter (PHX ) and that route would make it much easier to get to PHL to non-rev to Europe rather than going thru PHX or LAS.
Hope the info is right.

Thanks.

I hope that's not just a rumor, as well! I had to be in YVR twice this past year and flying US from the East was horrific. (Think double connections in PHL and PHX.) Non-stop YVR service from PHL will be a strong route.

I was able to find Flt 847 leaving PHL at 5:50 pm and arriving YVR at 8:51 pm for some days in Sept. The return flight is 848 leaving YVR at 9:56 pm and arriving PHL at 6:00 am.

I tried booking Star Alliance flights on Air Canada from ABE-YVR a few days ago using Dividend Miles and the agent couldn't find any Air Canada flights. The best she could find was 3-leg flights from ABE-CLT-ORD-YVR. I ended up using DL miles on AS from EWR instead. Maybe I should have waited a few days. I hope the new YVR service is successful.

Not sure of the start date but here is the schedule:

Departs 5:50 PM Philadelphia, PA /8:51 PM Arrives Vancouver, Canada Flight 847 6 h 1 m

Departs 9:56 PM Vancouver, Canada / Arrives 6:00 AM Philadelphia, PA Flight 848 5 h 4 m

It beats the PHX connection, although the border crossings are a pain unless you have Nexus.

PHL-YVR....interesting....

Be nice if it wasn't a red-eye on the way back.

TOTALLY agree with that....I'm in the wine biz....I'm batting a lowly .333 getting through without being detained and "gone through." You'd think I was smuggling narcotics from the way they treat you and talk to you.

This doesn't help the US employees...but the best way to get to YVR from the east coast is UA....they have 3 flights from ORD (or at leas they've had in the past) and they connect up nicely with all points east and southeast. Plus there's "Economy Plus" if you don't want to pay for F or don't have upgrades.

If you live in New England, there is AS service from Boston...and this is actually what I've done the last few times as I can get F Class for around $850 each way.

I agree though....it makes PERFECT sense to connect, what I consider, one of (if not "THE") most beautiful cities on west coast with the primary hub on the east coast, PHL.

Good going US....would be nice to see more frequencies...I only do red-eyes when there is just no other way.

Totally Agree. Need A Mid Morning Or Afternoon Flt To Accomadate The Alaska Cruises!

If the aircraft RON'd in YVR then the east leg (early morning departure) would make European connections. The red eye allows Caribbean connections but only Eastbound, most would not connect westbound but Europe would. Perhaps if it is succesful (which I think it will be) in the summer of 2009 there will be two roundtrips, with increased flexibulity.

This is poor planning. If they had a flight leave PHL in the morning arriving in YVR around noon, with a return around 1pm, they could appease a lot more cruise passengers.

With the current schedule, pax now have to leave a day early and pay for a night's lodging before embarking in YVR. They also have to fill an entire day in YVR on the way back waiting for the red-eye.

I'm also surprised it's being operated with East equipment. I would think they'd operate it with West metal ala PDX in terms of maintenance issues.

Has anyone found out when the PHL YVR flight inaugurates service? this would be a seamless way to get to YVR for us east coast based folks.

From a cruise passenger perspective (and an airline agent) I wouldnt arrive in YVR at noon for a 4 or 5 pm sailing same day. Too much stress as a passenger if something goes wrong and not enough planning for a problem from an agent perspective having to get someone from the East coast to YVR. However, having worked at a cruise port for many years, I can say that there would be a lot of people who would do this (and then b*tch about things when they go wrong.)
