Representation Vote

I'm glad that this is all over.
A lot of people didn't vote. Mainly from our side, I'll bet. Probably the 287 non voters were also from our side as well.
A lot of us didn't like our IBT contract, and some probably came over to the IAM side. (I voted IAM). But the apathy still lingers.
Its one big change after another. First we vote in the IBT, but no one thought they were going to produce such a bad contract that would galvanize the UA side. The IBT contract wasn't going to fly. I kind of figured that if the UA side held their people, the IBT was going to lose because of our non voters and a lot of non union sentiment on our side. Now we are in the IAM. That's a lot of change for a year and a half to a group that was non union before. But as I said before, we needed a union in the worst way. But a lot of us were worried if we would have went into this merger without a union, we might have been screwed. it has happened before. There are a lot of people on our side who have invested a lot in this campaign. All we can do now is wait and see what happens next. The IAM should at least go to all of the CO stations and talk to us and let us know what to expect in a new contract. What about our OPS people and Move Team people. Where do they fit in a new IAM contract? And get a steward structure process in place. WE have some people on our side that were IBT stewards. Will the be invited as IBT stewards? I know that the IAM will have to finish its business with the UA side, but please don't forget about us. (Like you did in 2009 - Still there are some hard feelings about that campaign.) Now the hard feelings need to be patched up and lets work together for an industry leading contract. Ill be watching, listening, and will be involved to the best of my ability.

The campaign for fleet is over.

I can respect those that supported the opposition because that is who they believed in and put their trust to deliver a better working place. I am a Machinist 100% and I make no bones about it.

The histories of the two airlines are very similar. CAL had Lorenzo, UAL had Tilton. The difference is there are enough UAL employees around to remember the good times, on the other hand there are not enough CAL employees around to remember the pain and suffering Lorenzo caused.

Bethune came in and showered his employees with pennies of love and a new company culture. I believe corporate culture is a joke. Human Resource Managers since the beginning of the industrial revolution have used the ploy of creating culture in lieu of cash. Smisek might buy into it, but he is compensated by the millions. Smisek thought he could buy culture for 40 pennies, he is out of touch and is going to lose a lot of capital backing if he does not come to the table with cash. Cash is King. As Tina Turner sings, Whats love gotta do with it? ........ Nothing, this new corporation is the largest and most profitable. It will properly compensate its employees represented by the IAM or face possible self help provided under Section 6 of the Railway Labor Act. The UAL IAM represented employees are steadfast in their resolution to restore what was stolen in bankruptcy.

The combined fleetservice under one union now has the resources to achieve a fair contract for all.

Now the IBT is contesting the voting results at United. It was a very close election. So, even though it doesn't effect the immediate represention, it can/could/may effect negotiations.

Gheesh...will all of this ever end? 😱
