Agreed.It's fantastic.
It's fantastic.
I commuted for the first seven years from PIT-HNL. I did it by DOH from coast to coast. It was fair every time. I never begrudged a more senior employee or RETIREE. It's civilized, and the right way to go.Westies better start saving your money for airline tickets, 'cause you ain't going nowhere on standby with your seniority! 😀

I don't know of one, but I know that the commuting priority has been hashed-out on here. I personally do not believe in a priority for those who choose to live out of base. Who's to say that one type of non-rev travelling is more important than another?Do any airlines give priority to commuters? When we first got jumpseat, you could book your j/s going TO work 3 days in advance, but going home FROM work 2 days in advance. I'm not sure if it's the same still, but people going to work got priority. Maybe they could do the same for commuters non-revving?
False. It's not as bad as you might think. You will notice little or no change! If the flight is oversold, chances are you won't board, just like your old system. It really is not that big of a deal. Never really been an issue, and I only have 11 years.... Trust me...Westies better start saving your money for airline tickets, 'cause you ain't going nowhere on standby with your seniority! 😀
Well I also had an Experience where as Senority was played with a little. I had a Dependent traveling alone get called before me. Now I only have 1982 Senority so it does happen, but I noticed the person they gave the seat to was not even 25 years old, so I questioned it. Needless to say his father listed for the flight with the same name but the dependent checked in via a kiosk and sailed thru unnoticed until I questioned it. And I only questioned it because I was trying to get onto a Dash and they always have restictions. We both did make the flight.Seniority boarding can be, and has been, manipulated for a long time. The boarding agent has the list; the agent can also call non-revs to board out of the sequence of that list as happened to TravelPro. Unless you are certain that your seniority is above someone else who gets called ahead of you, you have no recourse.
Now...allow access to the list by all who are on it, and things would change drastically. Issue a one-year loss of pass privileges (or one month suspension) to an agent who violates the sequence and maybe the list would be honored in all cases.
No matter what the system, though, it can and will be subverted
Here's different approach.
Why do either one?
Why not go to an attendence/performance based system?
Absolutely - you are basically throwing away something that has been worked for (maybe i should have said you are making your profession even that much more lousy than it has already become - this is one of the only benes left and you yourself want it to go away for some fcfs crap... get real!!!))) Your right i do need meds to listen to your crap..
