I find this above statement a bit puzzling! As I stated before, if it is taken out of the bylaws, why do you assume that it will be good for you? Everyone keeps saying to take the DOH out of the bylaws. This does NOT mean the AWA AFA can do what they want. I can assure you, even IF (that is a stretch) it is gone things will not be all rosey for the AWA flight attendants. Again, becareful what you are wishing for.

Ok lets put "survival" in relative turns..

Uair was ALREADY in BK with no exit financing, creditors knocking on the door before the deal with AWA came along.

AWA was not in BK, has a reasonable cost structure, and did not have the labor problems U had/has...

AWA saved U's arse.. They only kept U's name because AWA is too much of a directional name...

Look at the BOD, and look at the equity.. the old U equity owners get 7% of the merged company.. that makes Old Uair a minority interest in the combined comany.

Just a slight correction.....

The old Uair equity owners get 0% of the merged company - it's the old Uair unsecured creditors who get the 7% (or thereabouts) and the PBGC is getting 70% of that 7% (plus $23+ million).

Newsflash CapnCockroach--we are now in this together. The employees of this new US Air is going to determine if it is a "winning" company or a "losing" company. Let's try to make this work. The bad blood is already getting old. There is nothing we can do about the merger. Personally, I am resigned to it. I cant change it. So, I either retire or make it work. Period!
Bad management is responsible for the state of US Air--not the flight attendants.Get real. If AWA still had Bill Franke around, we wouldnt be in such a good position. We are employees--and yes, we try to get the most we can out of our contracts (which at AWA isnt much...but we still have fun). If my memory serves me correctly, US Airways' Disclosure Statement said that upon emergence from bankruptcy US Airways would survive and America West would become a "wholly owned" subsidiary of US Airways Group.

America West MEC chairman JR Baker said in a recent report that he believes the US Airways operating certificate will survive.

America West Holdings is what survives. US Airways is in name only. The U stockholders will be wiped out. The AWA stockholders get a share of the new company.
