Seniortiy

we have to remember that this is a merger . not a buyout. hp is not buying us. therefore, we have to go by our c&b. why is this so hard to comprehend? why? why?why?.why are we even arguing about it? its a mute piont.
the afa constitution and by-laws clearly states that in the event of a merger with an afa carrier both parties will be intergrated with doh. period. i just don't understand it. you guys are getting worked up for something that we all know what the outcome will be. does it suck for the hp f/a's? yeah,it does. if i were in their shoes i'de be kinda pissed. but we have to follow the rules here. no one is better than anyone else here. we are so lucky(both carriers) that we have this by-law in our contracts because if this were a merger with another carrier ala amr they would gladly staple the hp folks to the bottom. so date of hire works. i only have a few years with airways so clearly doh really does not benifit me but its the right and fair thing to do.

You are wrong.

You DID earn it. By working smarter. By not endangering your company with archaic expensive work rules and pay rates. You should be slotted waaaaay ahead of the #1 US FA.

Waaay ahead.

Remember, you are the "winning" company. They are the "losing" company.

Waaay ahead.

Not really sure what animated world you live in. Maybe you could explain the "losing" and "winning" company comment. If you are AWA, your CEO even said that you would most likely go into bankruptcy soon. Why should we be slotted behind anyone? You will get over it, just like everyone else did during the PSA and Piedmont acquisitions. Only difference is, that this is a mutual merger. Probably a good thing too, as someone else would have bought AWA eventually.

If you start doing that you are only going to create animosity between work groups so lets get real!!!!!!!!

Do you really believe that DOH is going to produce a workgroup of shiny, happy people?

there was minimal problems at PSA, PI and US, actually made the Empire people very happy.

Same here.

East FAs, please don't get too riled up by the motion to change the C&Bs to 'relative' seniority.
I think everyone realizes its a vain gesture, more to placate the squeeky wheels at HP who are afraid of DOH.
Many are screaming for a recall of our Pres, he has to act like he's trying to do something.
I don't think anyone actually believes it might be approved by the BOD.
Of course, if they DO go for it, I won't be complaining! B)

I do wonder what are the differences in the reserve programs that would cause someone to be on reserve for so long?
Maybe its not the programs, but zero growth at US? (shrinkage, actually?)

I agree! President BL is over his head and has to make it look he's fighting for the little guy.
The actual possibility of it passing are so astronomical... I think because it's a constitutional issue, that maybe all of AFA might have to vote. If they were to agree with AFA AWA at this October meeting, it would set presedence, and the UA f/a's are still subject to a merger with someone else. DOH means just as much to them as it does US f/a's. So if it did go to a vote, the two largest groups (UA & US) would easily kill it off.

No matter how it works out, someone won't be happy. As always.

your absolutely right. so why even waist our energy.

I wouldn't worry too much. There will be a fence and without major changes in employee mentality in the east, their performance will suffer and those who are pulling the financial strings will pull the financial plug on the losing side.

On the other hand, perhaps the past can be put in the past and two groups can move ahead together looking beyond what is "owed" them. The U contract offered many protections, but it didn't protect them from almost submerging as a company. It's time to embrace fair, creative solutions that build up the people and in turn the company.

Or you can look forward to more of the same when the money runs dry.

What is the monthly dues rate for a US F/A? I was under the belief that we all pay the same amount. $39.00

Well said. If a contract gets too expensive for the company, it will obviously end up hurting the employees.

I am an AWA flight attendant. And I respect seniority. Mine. AND YOURS. We are not all supporting "proportional integration" as proposed by some of our members. Do I like it that my seniority is going to take a nose-dive? No! But I am not entitled to seniority that I have not earned. Please dont think we are all supporting this motion.

Hulagirl,

I think that is the smartest statement I have read on here in months.

And finally. Another reason the "Relax -- there will be fences and no rush to PHX" argument falls flat is because the REAL concern is not people invading a base, but LAYOFFS.

That is the point right there!!!!!!! Why should someone with less than a year seniority at AWA have a job and I lose my job with 7 years??? AMERICA WEST IS NOT BUYING US AIRWAYS OR VICE VERSA!!

Let's say DOH is taken out of the bylaws. US Airways has just as much of a right to staple AWA to the bottom of the list then. Would you like that?? Afterall, we are TWICE the size of AWA and our revenue base is much much larger. Becareful what you wish for, it might just bite you in the arse.
