Thanks for trying to calm people fears. One thing you might want to know about USAirways Flight Attendants?.....once whipped into a frenzy....they are like PERONAS. Yikes....I am scared myself and I am on there side!
I know it doesn't have a chance in hell but they don't.....most of them don't. You know, my feeling is why even take the chance? AFA on the USAir side would be neglect if they didn't take action now. They can't wait until the Board of Directors meeting to see how it pans out. If there is even a small reason to think it might happen we must protect our interest. I am hearing that AFA on the AW side is getting flooded with emails and are asking the USAirways flight attendants to stop emailing them. Well, Bill Lehman can stop this anytime he likes by withdrawing his motion before AFA to screw the USairways F/A group.

What do you expect us to do, bend over and say "bohica"?

Did you have a problem with the AFA bylaws and merger policy before it effected AWA F/A's? Didn't hear a peep prior to the merger announcement. We can do this the easy way...or the hard way...AW F/A's choice. DOH is the only fair way and that's what fences are for.

As long as there are employees at US like 700UW, there will always be two companies. He and his ilk have already poisoned the well.

Excuse me?

When I am at work I do my job 100%, I don't let management get way with contract violations and stand up for myself and my coworkers.

Maybe if you actually knew me and actually worked with me you would know what I am really like.

Until you do, I suggest you keep your lies to yourself.

Gawd, how I wish we weren't merging. I wish I was dreaming and I could wake up from this nightmare.

You must be a lovable little fluffball in person.

Can you ever add anything with intelligence to the debate or topic at hand?

Amen HP.......US Air tends to forget they are in bankruptcy...not once...but twice with the likelyhood of them emerging as slim to none. Very unfortunate for an airline that has been given a 'life line' to demand so much. There is no seniority at the unemployment line. Now as far as the AFA bylaws go, they are antiquated and were intended for other purposes than a fully profitable low cost carrier saving a 'legacy' carrier from the brink of ruin. If DOH remains then the fence should be atleast 22 years so that not one AWA FA loses any seniority. Besides I think once they get a real look at the 6 leg day pairings they won't be diving headlong into wanting a Phx base. Now...I am quite sure I will get blasted by many US FA's but quess what? Doesn't mean a thing. The seniority/doh issue is very serious. Yall can quote bylaws and anything else you want but you are not the big boys on the block anymore. I have read so many posts that describe in detail all you have given up. Well, Im sorry it has come to that for you, but you had options, just as all the AWA Fa's have options. You are becoming a low cost carrier and with that comes sacrifices and low pay. And by the way, I have yet to talk to one...not one AWA FA who wants to work your routes, so I wouldnt lose too much sleep about losing any of your precious seniority and international pairings. For those AWA FA's who are drinking koolaide and tell you they don't deserve your seniority because they haven't earned it....well I say....hogwash. Trust me, they are far and few between. We have built a solid reputation as a good low cost carrier and will continue to do so, with or without you.

Wonderful post, Galleyhag! And hp_fa...my feelings exactly!
How about a fence that stays up until the flight attendant who is most junior at AWA, on the day the merger is signed, sealed and delivered (which should be next month), holds a line. Works for me! 😀

AWA has a lot to be proud of, especially in the recent business environment. But be careful here. You are talking about your merger PARTNER, funded 100% by OUTSIDE investors. By the way, your job is not exactly a keystone to the success of the new, NEW company..and I can say that having been happily married to a wonderful F/A for the last decade. We are all disposable. Might as well be friendly to the SOS partner your are twirling down the disposal with. Best to us all . Greeter.

Ummm, its going to be WITH them, pretty sure about that.
Also pretty sure its going to be DOH.

The new airline will be made up of 2/3 US FAs and 1/3 HP FAs.
Each group bringing to the table quite a bit of experience and sacrifice.
The customer base and route structure that US has built is what's going to carry us ALL thru, and allow me to keep a job that I love.
HP was on very shaky ground, luckily, there were investors who believe in the combination.
I realize its scary to think of all those FAs with so much more seniority than you, but please try to see this merger for the positive thing that it is.
Do not become bitter, or deliberately incite animosity.
Is that how you want to work the rest of your career at USAirways? Always hating 2/3 of your coworkers, because they started before you?

Run scared little girl. That is what you sound like. Everything you are saying that the US f/as are afraid of is reaking from your veins. We are still the big boys and always will. The AWA f/as are a mere fraction of our size. You will be lost in the suffle if you continue to play hard ball. You have what, 2,400 f/as? We have over 9,000. Furloughed or not we have them. Don't rock the boat to hard, you WILL sink it.

If my memory serves me correctly, US Airways' Disclosure Statement said that upon emergence from bankruptcy US Airways would survive and America West would become a "wholly owned" subsidiary of US Airways Group.

[post="295230"][/post]
Actually, AWA holdings merges with Barball and that entity becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of the new US Airways.

This is significant in that as a subsidiary, the BOD can choose to spin off the US Airways side if they are unimpressed with their financial performance. Conversely they can choose to sell the AWA/barbell entity if that woulld provide more cash for U to swallow. Keeping AWA intact for a little while (even if to the public it appears that it is one company) is in the best interests of HP employees, especially in these turbulent times.

After a long hard war with their management, the U people on this board just want to win one battle, even if that battle is with their future coworkers.
