Now that silver boards with zone 2 If I am sitting anywhere near the front of the airplane my carry on bag is averaging 10-15 rows behind me. Glad I picked my seats 4 flights in advance...

Silver has been zone 2 for atleast the past three years now.

You can always go fly Southwest and stand in line with your number before you board!!

And you can watch your seniority go right down the DOH drain.
What amazes me, Bob, is that corporations will ignore customer complaints, even though culling through them likely would result, given a little bit of intellectual thought, in a "winning lottery ticket" for the corporation. It is like ignoring low hanging fruit and depending on hail mary's is their corporate mantra.

Management is playing games with Zone boarding trying to get customers away for interacting with agents………….

I got to interact with the agent when I got kicked out of the boarding line.

Well it does get slightly aggravating when they call for "status" boarding and 35 people (all with 2 larger bags for each person) rush the door so than can be the FIRST to board, then get on the airplane and throw BOTH bags in the overhead bins (filling them quickly) then getting very hateful when you try to ask nicely to place the "smaller" item under the seat. It's almost turned into what Southwest used to be like where all of these people are coveting the jetway door and you can't even get off of the plane and into the terminal.

Somebody had a wonderful idea the other day to allow the passengers without bags to board first, those with 1 bag next and then if you have 2 they go last and it wouldn't matter the status..

If they took away the "fee" of checking in bags it would entice the customer to go on without a carryon. The current policy is making it easier on the ticket counter but harder on the gate agents and fa's.

I don't know about US, but at AA they were bringing on enough luggage for a year in Europe long before baggage fees were instituted. The thing that would help the most is get serious about what constitutes a "small personal item." Most gate agents at AA let them go down the jetbridge as long as there is an outside chance of calling it 2 bags. And, I've seen them come on with a 22" rollerboard and a backpack that could contain a 6-man tent and a camp stove. The backpack being their "small personal item."

I saw an agent chase a woman down the jetbridge last week yelling that she had too many bags. The woman had a rollerboard, a huge tote bag, a computer bag and her purse. The agent helped her stuff the computer bag and the purse into the top of the tote, and then allowed the woman to board. Of course the stuffing action created an item that would have never fit under a seat and would probably not have fit in the overhead bin. However, since I was going to be shut up in that aluminum tube for the next 3 hours with the woman at 30,000 feet, I was not going to be the one to tell her she had to go all the way back up the jetbridge and check something.

I completely agree!! Sometimes their personal item is another rollaboard on top of the 47,000" they already have and neither will fit in the overhead.

Silver has never been in ZONE 1. Agents just did not make the boarding announcements. When I used to work in RESERVATIONS in WINSTON SALEM.. My supervisor asked me one night after a monitored call session. What is worse than a SILVER? And the REPLY was ----------------- A SILVERS WIFE. Used to get the calls to the preferred desk... Oh I am JANE SMITH, my husband travels all the time and we just got awarded preferred status. Next Question to the WIFE -JANE SMITH. What is your husbands Dividend Miles Numbers. Agent pulling up account sees MR Smith has flown about 18,000 miles and was awarded the Silver Status. Goal is 25000 or sergments. Mrs Smith wants to book FC using her peferred status. And where are you going ? Mrs Smith replies oh to PHX and from what city please? LGA. Looking at the flights nothing is available either thru PHL or CLT , back to Mrs Smith, I am sorry nothing is available using your miles. do you have another date you would like to travel.. Mrs. Smith NO, we travel all the time and there has to be seats available, do you have a supervisor I can speak with. sure if you want to HOLD for HRS.

What I find completely hillarious is that while other carriers are adding AVOD, Wifi and other cabin enhancements, US is still tinkering with their boarding proceedures!
