Now that the Delta merger appears unlikely, do you think that the Company may focus its' growth from within? I believe that we still have 1,600 F/As from the East on involuntary furlough. Any thoughts?

I hope so! Let's grow and get everyone who wants to be here back!!!

And then HIRE>>>>>> it would be so nice to have some new fresh faces with life running through them instead of the same old spent bunch we have now.

United is hiring 2000 this year, CO and NW are also hiring.... Lets get our act together, get a contract that allows everyone to work, stop outsourcing and bring some life back to our airline too!

We have Fresh/New Faces on the west. So we have them but our pay sucks so they dont stay for long. Plus the moral is just bad... Most new hires quit due to pay levels. With a pay level low they can't make it with turns from PHX-TUS

I'm barely making it on 7 year (oops 4th year, why count all the time I've worked here?) pay, so I can't imagine what they are doing. We are eligible for government aid in Philly, no lie.

That would be great, but first we need to get rid of the people who don't want to be here. We still have a lot of dead weight.

I still dont understand why they cant

-get a final, concrete interest list of who wants to come back out of the furloughed list

-offer a buyout of the same amount, and replace

EVERYONE wins! Staffing is the same but more of the workforce is bottom pay and less highest pay. Everyone on the seniority list moves up, giving more people better quality of life. West F/As will merge with a slightly less senior list. Furloughees get to come back. Customers get better service. EMBFA gets people to hang out with on layovers.

I'll hang out with you!

We on the west apply and get food stamps and sectiion 8 housing... Its a sad fact. ! Alot of us thought we were going to get a pay raise but after our Section 6 talks were smashed by a merger. Now we much keep picking between a roof over our head or food in our tummys? But Doug still gets paid.

I agree.

5-14 years - ($) amount of dollars to walk away.
15-24 years - ($$) amount of dollars.
25+ years - ($$$)amount of dollars.

People that are ready to move on can walk away with something for their years of service and we could bring back the furloughees at less money. Everyone wins!

EMBFA, very few slam clickers @ MAA. We had fun.

Why offer a buyout? It costs them nothing to keep the people they have here now, why spend money getting rid of people?

Not how the company thinks, unfortunately.

Offering a 25+ year F/A, earning $45,000, $20,000 to walk away and replacing them with a furloughee making $25,000 would be a break-even in one year. For the next 10 years it would be a financial gain for the Company. Can't see how that is not a sound business decision.

Am I missing something?

sky high states: Walk away? Into what? A lousy pension and NO medical benefits into your latter years. SENIOR people are here to stay, they have no choice now.
Actually, NO ONE wins, the company will be paying for an aging workforce.

only stating opinions.

Most of the ones here that dont want to be probably do not fly that much, anyway. Offering $$$ to leave? Don't see it happening, they'll just wait until they fall.. 😉

I have talked to MANY MANY people in the union and upper management on this issue. They don't see this as a problem. They would rather make it miserable for the f/a and they will leave on their own.

Whats gonna be great is when they are all done with putting this contract together and we are on one certificate and the AIL is finally gone. I think I was told all of this will be done by June. I hope they bring everyone back by year end.
