So what’s the deal with US Airways parking 3 more 757’s?

Negative growth?

Nah, I’m sure Doug is just waiting for the right time to wow us with his big announcement!

Anyone? USA320? USA320?

Heard we were hurting for equipt. from (Sr eng interiors)

That's the way it works...Get a few "New" ones a while back, now get rid of the same amount a few months later.
There has been no true growth at this Airline in a very long time. When, and if any new routes are added, it is only the result of others being cut...

I have not heard about 3 757s being parked I have heard about them being reconfigured.

US Airways ALPA MEC chairman Jack Stephan recently received a letter from senior management indicating in the first quarter of 2007 US Airways will remove three East B757s from the inventory.

The aircraft tail numbers were identified, they're some of the older jets, and apparently they require significant heavy maintenance.

Management indicated they were looking for replacement aircraft.

Regards,

Is Christine finally going to retire to sunny Arizona or California after all her hard years of work?

Wonder when Jack was going to let the membership know.....

Now, really! Once USA320 himself knows, who else NEEDS to know?
 Isn't that the TRUTH! Where would we be without the Moses of the Airline Industry enlightening the masses...."Chip, oh Chip please tell me IT isn't sooooooo!"

Yeah, Chip seems to have the secretaries attention. He reminds me a lot of the Vichy French, always placating, always preaching BOHICA. Most were killed at the end of WWII. Can we replicate their actions?

Yep, he is on Dougie Houser's secretary's speed dial.

<Speaking to myself> Damn. I didn't need to confirm that. Waste of time.

It is my understanding that MEC chairman Jack Stephan recently talked with US Airways vice president of operations Ed Bular reagarding the first quarter 2007 loss of three of the oldest B757s.

Bular claims the three aircraft scheduled for removal are being recalled by the lessors because they apparently can get better than market rates for these aircraft.

Bular reiterated that US Airways is aggressively trying to find replacement aircraft and that Operations Engineering is reviewing different configurations.

Best regards,

USA320Pilot

The 3 757 going bye bye has been know for a long time. It was part of the business plan for along time. APLA knew this during the transition agreement negotiations.

Not too sure about that... The current fleet and projected fleet (including additions and subtractions) of both the East and West was listed in the Transition Agreement. That showed East at 31 757's with no planned reduction. It also showed the West at 13 757's with a planned reduction of 1 aircraft in March of this year. If it was a part of the business plan and was known for a long time, it would have been shown.

When we got the 3 new 757's, it was not in the plan and we had to give seats away to AWA pilots. Since we are losing 3 now, do we get our seats back???
