What's new

The word is spreading....

I want to reply to "Bobby". The intent of the picket is not at all pointed to the "consumer". It might be pointed to management as to discontent to "Broken Promises" related to management that hides behind the original Bankruptcy Judge Mitchell, who ordered all U.S. Air pensions nulled during their bankruptcy in around 2003. My head can only hold so much past information into this "legacy airline".
I wonder if this new management even entirely realizes the work U.S. Airways committed to the history of this fine airline.
Could it be time that we find solutions to the merger and not insults. Blame is easy. Let's try to learn from the past successes and then move on.
The picket is only a way to express "frustration" to a problem that only, I think, the past airlines can help with. Thanks!

Nice job..... get the word out there! (Just not sure about the "U Suck" t shirts, that's all....)

Otherwise,

I think I have 2 PHX layovers in April (redeyes during the week); If something is happening, I'll be right along with ya... Keep us updated....

Count me in too. If you have anymore rally's let us know. Now it is like PHX is a base for flight attendants from the EAST coast. Have to say...U Suck...well lets just say you can come up with something better. Good job and keep it up.

We are having a Rally April 12, Thursday, 2pm to 6pm. in front and around Manti' and down Mill. The "Easties" need to know that Phoenix is "No Slouch"! The number 1 town for growth. We recognise Easter so we are planning this four days after the holiday. It will be "Freaky Thursday" ahead of Friday the 13th. Hey! We are all in it together. Ann.

Here's another point, is it smart to put on the sign that your going to mistreat the customers while standing right infront of corporate?

Oh and also next time, get a permit to stand on the street.. just and FYI.

First of all , neither i nor any other employee of us airways has said we will in anyway mistreat the customers or their luggage . (such actions would be unethical)
What i was trying to say is that i and most of my fellow workers will no longer go ABOVE AND BEYOND (except when safety is an issue ), a term most of you will soon be familar with ... i'm just going to do my job ... Here in the PHX hub this company runs it's operation on the fact that a good many of us go above and beyond everyday ... without this extra effort things are just going to deteoriate , thereby affecting the general public .

Also i was at one time curious about the whole permit thing , but i don't think we need one as that the tempe police checked on us throughout the day and said nothing .

To the other poster who asked how is our company holding us hostage ?this is how

We were once two companies , us airways , and america west airlines ... Then one day america west decided to buyout us airways ( hey i'll tell the story how ever the hell i want to ! ).
After the buyout went throu it was time to start combining the different work groups from amoung the two airlines . us airways ramp agents were protected by the IAM union , while the old awa rampers had the TWU union... things did not go well and there were disputes about which union would represent all the ramp workers... Each union told lies about the other until most memebers of both unions thought the other communist bastards controlled by the mafia ...It was suggested that a vote should be had to decided which union should live and which one should go away .... Many rallied and promoted for their side ... there was even bloodshead .... The only problem with this vote was that if 50% of the workers didn't vote both unions would disolve , so several months into the campaign for the vote , the TWU decided to forfit .... Iam was the victor and all ramp workers would hence forth be inducted into the IAM UNION .
So about half way into last years we the former TWU became IAM ...Started paying our union dues to IAM etc ... Now the good thing about the iam , is that their workers made much more money an hour compared to the old TWU workers ... We continued to get paid under the old poor TWU payscale for the remaineder of last year under the assumption that in this , the new year , we would recieve the pay rates of regular IAM workers... but it is now march and we are still being payed as if we were TWU workers, in other words , much less than our fellow workers on the east coast who do the exact same job that we do ...
It appears that there was some legal provsion in a transtion contract between the old union and the company that left loose ends resulting in the company not having to bump up our pay (in other words a loophole )... All of us on the west have protested this unfair act of the company ..we have protested loudly , and our response from managment has been simply that if they pay us what the other workers are making they won't have a strong hand to conduct new collective barganing between the union and the company when the next round comes up ... Hence we are being held hostage as leverage by our own company that said they wanted to look out for us in this merger , but instead of just paying us what everyone else is getting , OUR OWN COMPANY is holding us down in order to USE us to bargain with .... this behavior is unethical , immoral and DISGUSTING ....
US AIRWAYS U suck !

Funny how I work at PHX and never heard a word about any protest. Were you the one that put the misspelled flyer on the wall in the A-side breakroom telling teamleads not to sign up for Sabre training? Hate to tell you union people but you look ridiculous when you pull crap like this. Hate to tell ya, but the majority of the people on the ramp could care less (especially PM), I've been there and done that.

I bet they love you running your mouth when you get lost and end up on the ramp.

You don't know where I work at PHX. I'd think twice before making assumptions based on your personal opinion.

My opinion is your smartass attitude would get you shut into a bin to ANC and forgot about.

If you ever crawled up into a 100 degree cargo bin. At least ANC would give you a chance to cool off.

Like I said...BEEN THERE, DONE THAT.

Perhaps your expertise can explain why the union has been taking money out of my paycheck yet hasn't done a damn thing for me. Oh sure, it'll come with time you say. Standing outside in a small coom-ba-yah circle outside HQ is a great start. Maybe you guys should organize a protest on the ramp again? Remember a couple months ago the outstanding turnout of all 15 people around 3pm at A8? Great job!

Guess the PHX fleet service sponsored picket is for April 12, then, if lithuanian is correct. This invite is extended to all union groups and cities. Heck, maybe FFOCUS should show up. Afterwards, we could all go to a sports bar on Mill Avenue. Get some hot wings.

If anyone desires directions on the Valley Metro bus, let me know and I'll list the very easy directions.

its sad to say, but i think the company is having a grand time watching all the tension play out. in doing so they are pitting all you fellow employees against each other. on top of it all there seems to be little support from IAM other than comfort messages. Now think out on the west IAM doesnt care about anything that happened to the west pre May 2006 when it was TWU.

In the end its a business for both LCC and IAM, seems as if both are taking the $$$ from the hard workin front line and giving themselves a little extra $$$ for their "hard-work" in creating the best interest for the front line.
LCC-merge for better chance of keeping job at cost neutral
IAM-dues to fight for better pay but no organization or positive contract talks

just a thought from outside the box.

You are absolutely right. We should just give up. We have been defeated before we even started. Woe is me. Ag-oh-nee.

As for any for anyone who says we should just give up ... HAHA we have nothing to lose and everything to gain ... why give up when victory is just around the bend ...

Our union did NOT organize last thursday's protest ,i belive it was one motivated worker ... and now i have to say that i personally feel FIRED UP!That was my first protest ever , now i want to stand out side of HQ protesting EVERYDAY!!!! Hey thank you for organzing that protest , i feel empowered now! ( you know who you are!).
