Union elections and the RLA....POLL!

Should union elections under the RLA be like every other election where you can vote YES/NO and the

  • YES

    Votes: 1 100.0%
  • NO

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters
    1
Jim,

It was semantics, I was on the NC and it was a final offer that they were going to impose, the judge wanted it voted on, so even if it went down it was going to be imposed.

But you are correct it was a "vote" that didnt matter.

And how positive was it when DL Management did whatever they wanted to do to the employees in bankruptcy and the employees had no recourse?

Or how was it a few years ago when DL just took away your pensions and you had no say in it?

And why does the CEO and executives have contracts yet they dont want the rank and file to have one?

Err............the union at NW had NO recourse during bankruptcy either.

And our pensions were frozen at DL, just like NW...............but without a union !

And your point is?

If you like the deal CEO's get.................become a CEO !

Yes the unions did have Section 1113 negotiations, unlike DL, go educate yourself.

The IAM reached CBAs with NW during Chapter 11 and got the IAM pension.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

The IAM reached CBAs with NW during Chapter 11
well they werent very thrilled with it and turned around and voted out the Union President.

(I am not sure if it was do to not being effective or most just simply wanted a new change, but non-the-less, he was voted out shortly there-after)

they would have more than likely had their contact abrogated if it was not ratified.

just like ours (Flight Attendants)

*I do however like the way the IAM handles their voting procedures.

Bobby was voted out at DL 143, that was going to happen either way.

And if they like the guy they just hired 6 months ago because he is a hard charger and works all the overtime he can get, does all the big jobs without complaining that he has to go pick up his kids, or take care of his sick mother, is in better shape than you, and they give him more pay, better shifts and more vacation/sick time, even though you were hired ten years before him, then you can just quit. 🙄

Ignorance is bliss.

seniority?

(the things that sort of.. kind of matter among others...such as, seniority integration..)

dont even think about bringing that up, because that is a non-issue now!

unless the subject is changing the RLA and an election format preference for some, dont even bother!

if Ignorance is bliss..

well I see a lot of bliss walking around..!

ignoring everything that needs resolution.. cause oh yeah, who cares!

that was going to happen either way.
the pilots also voted out their President..

and then of course our group, just went all out and changed unions for the second, third..um fourth time..

(oh wait a minute, its not four times...yet)

Hmm.............sorry thats the way things work in your world Tech as I have yet to see that happen in mine !

Union Blinders are bliss.

Maybe if you got rid of that "They can't fire me 'cause I work for the union attitude", the low timers wouldn't blow you out of the water concerning work ethics !

Dont know where you have been living but having a union doesnt prevent you from getting fired.

Dont let the facts get in your way.

So why is WN so successful and profitable when they are the highest percentage of unionized workers and highest paid?

That is because EVERYBODY else has taken pay cuts over the years not because they were EVER the best payed .Management and bankruptcy have made the difference not unions. Don't let the facts get in your way.

Takes a lot more to get canned at a union job, than a non-union job. Hell , we don't even have a union and its still hard to get fired !

And WN.............it's called fuel hedging and flying one type of aircraft !

WN Management maintains good relations with their employees.

(working well with each other is separate from an idea of unionization)

being in a Union does not guarantee good labor relations.

not being in a Union will guarantee poor labor relations.

teamwork and being focused, high success can result...

...with or without a union if both parties really attempt to work together.

Unions and Management getting sidetracked bickering is when it starts to

screw up.

and!

it only takes one side to start bickering...

to cause that to happen.. (the screw up)

these mistakes are being repeated over and over and over and

over.

In this situation and based on what I have witnessed at NW..

Union Representation (always having a chip on their shoulders) mixed with below average Management styles (regarding labor relations).

If the Union continues their course of not working well with Management = Fail

If the Company implements any unfair and unjust labor practices = Fail

Continuing the way it has always been done, what will end up happening is simply
the World's Largest will be the World's Largest Mess = Fail

*being the Largest does not mean you are number one.

Ok so your telling me that WN has been the most profitable airline for over 30 years and the highest paid employees because of that?

You seriously need to educate yourself.

And being in a union doesnt take a lot more to be fired from a job, you have no clue of what your talking about.

The only difference is the employee has a grievance procedure and the company has to meet Just Cause.

It is evident you have never been in a union nor represented anyone.

And to dignity, guess you never heard of the HPWO that saved harley-davidson, and other companies and even worked in the airline industry for a bit.
