Actually no!! You see I was a twice elected rep under a REAL union and I can tell you that we had several that hadnt paid dues in years and I for one would NEVER go after a persons career simply because he didnt believe in the union.
Usapa is just a weak east excuse!!!

AWA320

I'm guessing you are west, because I know several of the east guys that were the ones on the jetways meeting guys to give them their letter. And they should. It is understood that paying your dues is a condition of employment. It is not right for some of us to pay and other not to.

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL! I truely hope you can have a special time with your "significants" in your life and be thankful for all we've got. It could be worse!

Do you really believe that walking in a circle with a sign on a stick is going to get us a contract sooner?
The real question "Traitorjake" is do the UAL/CAL pilots feel that way. Is it OK to picket now that they have. Oh wait a minute I guess they do. Just sit there with your thumb up you know where and let everyone else fight for you.!!!! http://www.nj.com/business/index.ssf/2010/11/hundreds_of_continental_united.html

We did that together also, once upon a time. In front of Parkers office, in fact. We'll just see if those two groups can hold themselves together, hopefully they've learned something from us, but once egos get involved one never knows. Could be interesting, especially if ual guys don't like the list. I bet at least some ual types have consulted with you know who.

USAPA is fighting to steal jobs from West pilots and no, I won't help you.

Enjoy your sign on a stick.

EAST will not vote in a contract with the NIC.

Strong words from somebody who thinks it's okay to ditch an arbitrated list because they don't like it. Don't believe you. Have USAPA send out a decent TA and we'll find out. Not too scared to try, are you?

My opinion: if it's a decent TA it WILL be voted-in. How about we find out?

Getting impatient? Better idea send out the cards, If ya get voted in do it your way! Strong words it's time for you to put up or well you get the drift, HAPPY HOLIDAYS(NO MORE ST. NIC)!MM!

Yup. Would like a raise and improved work rules. Dont' you?

Not a better idea. New contract = good idea.
Without the NIC sure! MM!That raise is probably around the corner, if not no problem the ATTRITION TRAIN is leaving the station!MM You want a vote? send out your cards!

The east and west are one body. One body trying to achieve two separate goals.

Management is one body. Working in concert for a common goal.

The two bodies are placed in the boxing ring. Who wins?

I foresee several more years of the status quo. I think leaving this place to work somewhere else is probably the best thing to do if you have 5 years or more remaining. This place is a toxic dead end.

I've talked to several pilots who are very happy to be at Virgin America and Allegiant (some of whom used to work here). Two young airlines where you can upgrade in about 2 years or so from what I was told and make as much or more than you do here.

I know people are happy at Southwest, and you can make more money there as an FO then you will ever make here. You can be proud to tell people where you work. You won't be ashamed to tell other pilots where you are employed.

Delta is a great company with a future for those who have the time to upgrade and make a career there.

Hopefully the two great cargo carriers will start hiring soon. Pilots there can actually retire at the end of their "careers". Amazing. I am proud of those pilots.

Maybe its time to move on. Go somewhere fun. Go somewhere with a future. Go somewhere with a shred of dignity, with a shred of integrity. Somewhere that the body is working together. Somewhere where management doesn't laugh at the union president. Somewhere where a middle manager wouldn't dare tell the union president that he is embarrassing himself. Laughs and disrespect that echo down through the body of pilots. A body turned against itself by a management group that is much more clever than we are.

Being a pilot is still an admirable career. But not here. Not now.

I'm embarrassed to work here. I don't tell anyone I work for USAirways unless I have to.

That is GREAT advice the same advice I would give to any "WEST" pilot! MM!

Good post BLT.

In your description of the grass on the other side, you repeatedly mention two goals as being the incentive for leaving this place. Better money and the opportunity to upgrade are worthy goals for sure. If we in the east accepted the Nic, we could finally move together to secure the former, but only at the expense of the latter. USAPA's approach offers both for a greater percentage of the rank and file, provided the west can postpone their career expectations for a few years. I still see that as a win - win.

If this debacle has demonstrated anything, it is that herding cats is an easier task than merging two different generations of pilots.

Nothing wrong with that post, other than the bigger hammer method that was chosen.
