US Pilots Labor Discussion

As and outsider I can fully understand the AWA pilots position that they arent going to go to the street to make room for a USAIR pilot to jump in their seats (if I'm reading this right) but how many USAIR or AWA pilots are still on furlough? I know that at AA they exhausted their recall lists for mechanics (with the exception of recalls to some small stations where the mechs were not willing to relocate) and are looking to hire off the street. If all the pilots have been recalled then wouldnt you guys be better served by concentrating on getting your pay and benifits restored? Would it be worthwhile to step down from todays concessionary pilots rates to a restored FO rate knowing that in a few years you would once again be back in the left seat? Right now it seems that your company is the only one benifitting from the strife between the pilots. Just asking.

Great company? awa couldn't get an overwater cert. tried three times and failed all three. They brought in the east training dept

and passed in two weeks, great company?
Wrong again. Check your facts. AWA was flying to Hawaii before the merger. Look at the T/A. You see the part about AWA flying Hawaii? That was not there just in case.

You guys either ignore facts, make them up or flat out lie. It is impossible to have conversation or debates with east pilots. None of you know what you are talking about.

Besides you don't get over the water in 2 weeks.

Thats interesting that you say that, mind telling the group how you come to that conclusion?? I mean in all honesty seeing as how without AWA you would even be in the profession at this time you should be kissing the feet of AWA. Further wasnt AWA the company that met the failed and twice bankrupt USair payroll when usair was on its way out for good??

If anything USAir has tarnished our once great company. Usair was a faliure and everyone knows it but you obviously. The east was furloughed to almost 50% when AWA saved you and your career but you dont want to talk about that. The management team of Hogg and Bular are disgraces and you brought that one sided thinking trash with you as well.

I dont tell people I work for USAir either as I most certainly dont want to be grouped in with a bunch of pilots with no honor no integrity...

Soooooo......if Mr. Parker took the 2 billion U has in the bank....used it for a stock buy back program
then some middle easters flew some more airplanes into some buildings.....and U had to file another BR
would that be the fault of the employees? Go take a pill!! U has had 2 situations here. People
who wanted to run a big airline (Colod, Schofield) but didn't know how....and people who knew how
but didn't want to. (Wolf). Had Wolf been successful in selling to UAL he would have made 100M pre-tax.
Your company usually goes the way the CEO wants it to go. Same deal here. PHL is way bigger than
some cities that have a WHOLE LOT MORE intl service. We should have 25 more widebodies coming.
Why don't we....cause we won't need em when the "big merger" comes. Wake up. You should alrady
know most of this. Get off of the honor and intergity BS. That's why we have appelate courts in this country.

both companies were a failure at the time.. But many airlines were a failure at the time. And that is where the argument that we had 1700 furloughs and those jobs don't mean anything is misguided. We had 1700 on furlough because we parked 200 aircraft because of 9-11 and the DCA base closure. Bottom line is that these guys don't know how to run an airline.. There is no commpelling reason for anyone to fly US Airways except price. If Doug wants to turn it into a commodity he sure has.. Run the Airline, Lead. put the two airlines together and give customers a reason to fly US. As Cleary said, when are we going to start printing money.... Stop treating the passengers and employees like a liability... Oh I'd love to have 2 years in the CEO seat....

Clear, this is the reason that those of us with any sense all agreed not to engage the eastholes for the past few weeks. They truly aren't worth it. I'm going back to ignoring these deleted.

I'll watch the feces flinging from afar and rest confidently in the knowledge that they are in a tight spin, screaming in desperation, as the ground rises up to smite them.

Actually, we have enjoyed your absence... please carry on!

But you were just getting started... why rest so soon.

AWA & U is the past! IT doesn't matter! The enemy is management! Your enemy is always the CEO at USAirways; some airlines not-so-much. We should be fighting for a respectable contract...we could do it as two separate groups, same contract two different seniority lists until this mess is ironed out. But no, we are arguing over who's toys are better and who has had the best toys in the sand box in the past. Maybe daddy will tell you my toy is better than yours and let me have yours. It is time to grow up and get on with the battles at hand.

Well, that didn't stop Doug Parker from wanting to merge with us and shedding that unknown American West name as quickly as possible, thank goodness and good riddance.

There have been many mistakes in the course of the AWA aquisition of USAirways, but the single biggest mistake was retaining the name.

It has given the former AA employees the mistaken belief that somehow AWA was just added to their airline, and a lack of understanding as to why and how things needed to change, and what exactly transpired. Why on earth would an east F/A ask Kirby in the CLT crew news a few months back, (paraphrase), since there is all this animosity between the east and west pilots, can't we just sell off that little ol' West operation? Kirby did an okay job of explaining that it would be like "trying to split out Piedmont", but what was evident was this person had absolutely no clue as to who we are and how we (the entire airline) arrived at where we are today.

Had the powers that be went to Madison Avenue, came up with a campaign, and launched an entirely new brand, many of the troubles we see now would be near non-existent.

There certainly is value to the USAirways brand name, but it is not Coca-Cola for pete's sake. It should have been abandoned, in favor of something fresh. Since it was not, we are saddled with the same tired, losing mentality that got the east in trouble in the first place, and the quoted post highlights this fact.

Solution? There may not be one, the USAirways brand may be a lost cause. But, I would suggest that Tempe start educating all employees with a new emphasis on exactly what the plan is for the brand name. How it differs from the past and the individual airlines to which we were hired. What being a LCC truely means on an individual basis.

Your Wests pilots brochure, sent to all the East pilots, after obtaining their addresses illegally from company sources.

America West pilots brochure.

Thanks, there may have been some east pilots who did not get a copy, but can read it here.

Perhaps you would like to enlighten us all on any facts contained in the brochure that you question.

Further, perhaps you could offer some evidence that any addresses were obtained "illegally".

If not, it becomes aparent both you and biggie smalls have no idea what you are talking about.

Sue away, be sure to use Seham and usapa for cover.

PS. I ask because I really do not know. Does anyone know if would be illegal to start a card drive and send the cards directly to eligible individuals home addresses, say after usapa loses the loa93 arbitration?

Early on I thought with the vast disparity in hire dates of the two airlines, with every single east pilot on property at the time of the merger being senior by date of hire to the majority of west captains, that the east pilots viewed the west and it's 130 or so airframes as it's back to work and back to the left seat program. Now, I think maybe that wasn't right at all.

I think that perhaps the east pilots viewed all the west pilots as being destined for the east, with that being what happened in the past. Who knows, maybe it's neither, just a thought that popped into my head with the exchange between US and Nic. Lots of pilots with varying mileage to paint with to broad a brush.
