Silly rumour, hopefully... that's HP flying and should stay that way until post merge and fence. Plus US can't spare the widebodies anyway, and it would be a #### operationally to get ther planes and the crews there.

Not totally impossible.....there will be at least 5 767's that will be taken off the seasonal TransAtlantic runs from November to May.....US can easily dedicate a few of those 767's to Hawaiian routes. They are used mainly on Carribbean and Florida flying after they come off of the seasonal Transatlantic flying. And if they have already be proven on those runs....it makes sense to me! Once the TransAtlantic flying resumes next Spring, I'm sure US will have had a deal made with Airbus for additional widebodies till the A350's are delivered. And besides all of the US F/A's have already been EOW qualified on the 767.

True but highly doubtful - if that does happen they should take the MDA people and put them out there since they will be losing their flying and are already trained on the aircraft and service and call it western pacific - LOL since they seem to name things anything they want and then pay people differently under the same operators cert. per the FAA....

Again, HP folks. You are joining a large airline with many many bases and routes. Just as we deal with it, you will too. Sometimes PHL has BDA sometimes BOS does. The Islands went from BWI to PHL to CLT. Your routes and trips will change monthly. Maybe not as drastically has East coast to East coast bases do, but they will change. You may not keep ALL of the routes that you are used to. You are playing BIG airline now. The rules are going to totally change. I know you aren't use to it with your ONE base, but you need to get used to it. You are going to have 7 bases (8 if you include LAS). Embrace it. It should be exciting. Change is good folks. Don't fear the unknown. Geezzzzzzz.

Twice,

I think it will interesting to see how new management runs/deals/executes the operation here.

I hope to see many changes within our east coast operation, and no doubt that would translate to changes out west with the current AWA operation as well.

I am looking forward to having some forward thinking management at the helm here, we (US Airways folks) have been waiting 2 decades for this.

Good luck to us all, both our new sisters & brothers at AWA and all of us out east that have had our fun meters on full for a while 🙂

He said it was a rumor and wanted to know if anyone had any concrete info. It's kind of the point of the boards, exchange of information. I don't think it's for you to decide what people post. What you could decide is to try to keep you temper under control when they're posting their opinions. After all their opinions are just that. And once again kind of the piont of the boards.

I didn't write this to make you angry. Just my opinion.

The other day an HP employee was trying to non-rev out of our station and didn't make our flight - we convinced another airline to take this person FREE of CHARGE or ticket to XXX so they could make a flight home.

Employee was ever so grateful, was told hate-stories about us "USAir" people from her base in PHX... said she will tell everyone how nice and accommodating we are.

Whether you like it or not, we are ALL family on Day 1. We're not perfect, there will always be the evil 2nd cousin to stir the pot, but we need to learn to get along and shrug it off.

Think about it this way: If USAir is going to be flying our 767s PHX-hawaii, its more seats than the 757, which means more people flying our airlines (or more seats to non-rev on!) and greater chances for success on the route.

Great point JSsup. Let's go with the A/C with more seats and then we'll all non-rev to Hawaii.

Additional "empty seats" to non-rev upon does not a profit make...

Let's hope the revenue management team of the newco puts the right aircraft on the right routes whenever and wherever they can. If the Hawaiin routes can support a 767, then I'm all for moving them west. But I doubt that's the case at the moment. That's a very low yield market -- leisure travel and TONS of competition. HPs 757s are the lowest CASM a/c in the combined fleet and should fly those routes, for now anyways. If ATA tanks, then maybe bring more seats to the market -- or raise fares.

Actually, I fully EXPECT revenue management to move a/c and crews to the most appropriate routes in order to MAXIMIZE yield (max yields SHOULD = profit) -- and that might mean some HP a/c and crews go east and vice-versa.

Besides, HPs '57s are configured for 190 pax (14/176) and US '67s are configure for 203 (24/179) aren't they? 13 more seats -- 10 of them FC -- are not going to generate a heck of a lot more revenue. How many people are actually going to BUY first class tix to Hawaii? I mean, let's face it. These routes are partly there for the frequent flyers to cash in A LOT of their miles (it's better for airline if they use them on low yield routes than high yield routes -- less PROFIT is sacraficed.)

Also, "what are we gonna do with all those A350s?" You should see some of the routes being studied and proposed -- you would be excited and amazed! All I can say is that I want this wonderful airline to succeed so that I can experience them in about 6 years or so...

Lastly, I would propose that we not only take care of each other like family, but like cherished, long-lost friends. I know too many "families" that take each other for granted...

Hey, I have an idea......Why not let AWA win their seniority battle and let US continue to do ALL of the TransAtlantic and do ALL of the new Hawaiian flying with their widebodies......I think that would be a Fair exchange.....don't you?

This is getting ridiculous.....my toys are bigger and better than yours! LOL B)

The Hawaii service was never U's. Other then that your proposal would be quite acceptable.

USAir years ago got approval on the Hawaii run out of LAX they just never utilized it because the yields were too low. The "NEW" USAirways was the Airline to apply for and to recieve approval on those new Hawaiian routes....and in the end does it really matter who and what flys those routes? Maybe a combination of both is suitable... AWA 757's and US 767's.

Wrong answer. AWA announced Hawaii long before any merger agreement was signed.

I apologize....I guess I've sunk down to that level......I guess I really don't care anymore......you win! 🙂
