I remember when United quit flying non-stop between Chicago and Hawaii. Reason being nearly all passengers were frequent flyers cashing in reward miles. The flights never made United any money.firstamendment said:Yeah, really, who the hell cares? Tourist flights like Hawaii sound glamerous, but BELIEVE me, they AREN'T!! Everyone is a newlywed couple, everyone is celebrating their anniversary, and everyone feels they should be upgraded to F/C. We see the same thing on the island flights in the carribean and I promise you all you will see the same with Hawaii. It will get old fast. So PHX base, have at it and enjoy. 😉

hp_fa said:OK, U folks have told us about all their wonderful International service. Now they seemingly want Hawaii too. Do you want ANC and SJO also? How about YVR and YYC?
Is there anything else you want from our junior workforce? Maybe some layoffs for us?

The ORD-HNL flights were suspended temporarily due to pilot crew rest and staffing issues with the 777 configuration UA chose to use on that route after the retirement of the DC10, as I understand it.FM2436 said:I remember when United quit flying non-stop between Chicago and Hawaii. That does not sound correct. The merger was announced in May and the Hawaii service was announce in June. EOW training for flight attendants started in April so that the majority of the workforce would be trained should there be an opportunity to start service . Even if we did not start service to HNL or OGG, the EOW qualification would making flying to SJO and CUN much more economical as a more direct route could be flown.hp_fa said:Wrong answer. AWA announced Hawaii long before any merger agreement was signed.

The F/A's can only perform the drills correctly if training does their part correctly. The supplemental workbook that went out with a companion DVD has errors in it.multitasker said:AWA is still in the process of ETOPS certification. Next test run is at the end of September. It all hinges on the FA's being able to perform the evacuation procedures correctly. It is still planned that AWA crews will fly the Hawaii routes. Any statements on US Airways crews on the Hawaii routes is rumor..
