Usairways To Do All Hawaii Flying

This is a rumour. America West will be flying the Hawaiian routes, please check the americawest website.

America West also has planned to re-enter Hawaii even before the Merger was announced.

We're never going to get to non-rev there anyway. I believe my last successful trip to Hawaii had me fly back thru SMF on HA and overnight.

With the spectrum of this merger, there is absolutely NO REASON why HP's 757s (sharing US code) should ever depart with an empty seat after the merger. The amount of additional feed from the East Coast to PHX should definitely trump any other connection opportunities.

Hopefully we'll also see some California - Hawaii flying in addition to LAS/PHX

Heard AWA is having alot of trouble getting the 180 min rule on thier 757s. Usair already has Hawaii on our certificate. (think we did the proving runs 10 or 11 years ago). Heard we will use the 767, any news on this?

AWA is still in the process of ETOPS certification. Next test run is at the end of September. It all hinges on the FA's being able to perform the evacuation procedures correctly. It is still planned that AWA crews will fly the Hawaii routes. Any statements on US Airways crews on the Hawaii routes is rumor..

Will you guys stop it. This is really ridiculous, you are arguing like children. It's pointless and stupid. It's this she said, he said kind of argument that is going to make this partnership fail.

I agree!
This is a stupid conversation.
Can't do anything about it even if it is true (which I strongly doubt).

I am looking forward to meeting our Cactus friends over the next few months.
Let's focus on the postive!
😀

Yeah, really, who the hell cares? Tourist flights like Hawaii sound glamerous, but BELIEVE me, they AREN'T!! Everyone is a newlywed couple, everyone is celebrating their anniversary, and everyone feels they should be upgraded to F/C. We see the same thing on the island flights in the carribean and I promise you all you will see the same with Hawaii. It will get old fast. So PHX base, have at it and enjoy. 😉

All this is speculation and silly. When both companies are one who is to say what they will do. How does anyone know if they will use those etops 75's with HP crews to europe if they wanted. We will all be in for a bunch of changes as times roll on. As long as we can keep as many folks at each carrier working after the merger lets be thankfull.

You all should put Matty and Devil Dog on it for certification! Can't go wrong with those two. The best that HP has to offer!

Just out of curiosity, I looked up a hypothetical flight from the East Coast to Hawai'i in December on the AWA website.

The flight connected in PHX, but to my surprise, the leg out of PHX to HNL was on a Hawaiian Airlines 767-300.

What's up with that?

When is AWA supposed to start flying from PHX to Hawai'i?

Won't show up until the schedule is published and proving tests are complete.
