"real airline"?

oh, you know what i mean. i mean that these two airlines joining forces gives us the respect we have earned. usairways was not an airline that was respected by other ailrines. and there was time when hp was not very well respected by it's piers ither. both airlines were written off as dead at one time or another. now we will definately be a huge force to be reckoned with in the industry. we proved alot of people wrong. and with the leadrship of parker i have a huge feeling that the other guys will give us the props we rightly deserve. did not mean to sound condescending. sorry.

And for the past ten years we have not seen the inside of a BK Court, have made profits and were quite happy being the small Ma and Pa outfit in the city where special crews wake up every day to clear sagebrush off the runways.

Will you guys stop it. This is really ridiculous, you are arguing like children. It's pointless and stupid. It's this she said, he said kind of argument that is going to make this partnership fail.

I totally agree... this all sounds like the crap we heard when we were going to merge into United several years ago... geesh

Won't show up until the schedule is published and proving tests are complete.

Thanks for the info.

I apparently looked up a date prior to the 16th. And obviously, it makes sense to complete the proving runs first before selling tickets.

I recall that the then-US Air advertised, sold, and put out crew bids for the PHL-FRA route in Spring, 1993. But they kinda forgot to ask the German government for permission to fly the route. Hence, they could not start the route on the date advertised.

Somebody in Tempe obviously has a clue. (Although I'm sure Crellin will have him or her fired for "competence".)

Good one!
...although in actuality PHX is too "low desert" in climate and elevation for sagebrush. Creosote and Russian thistle (aka tumbleweed...a non-native invasive species that unfortunately thrives out here) maybe, but definitely no sagebrush!
B)

Getting back to the original rumor...though it seems the poster wanted to stir the pot, and didn't want an actual answer...if you look at the ALPA transitional agreement...

"The current and announced flying, as of the effective date of this
agreement, between points west of the Mississippi River and the
State of Hawaii will be flown by America West pilots. The current
and announced flying, as of the effective date of this agreement,
between points east of the Mississippi River and Europe or the
Caribbean will be flown by US Airways pilots. Notwithstanding
the above, up to two daily round trips to Europe, up to two daily
round trips to the Caribbean, and one daily round trip to Hawaii
may be flown by pilots of the other airline."

Looks like the HP folks will be making out more than OK. Guess someone will just have to start another rumor about how the big, bad US folks are going to ruin everything for their savior. 🙄

You need to get off the Savior thing. We are not saving you. We are saving each other. Why do you say we are big and bad. We are survivors, my new co-working friend. That is why Doug stepped up and asked if HP could join with US. We appreciate his respect and insight. Since I have been here, we have gone through about 5 CEO's. But guess what, who is still here, that's right, the strong will of the US employees. HP could never understand what we have gone through over here, and I would never want you folks to have to suffer the pain and abuse that our inept management has caused us. I think your management saw a great opportunity to become huge in one step, the MERGER. Yes, I said Merger, because that is what it is. We over here at US look forward to working with you at HP and finally getting this thing together as one. Then, we can concentrate on kicking some rival Butt. Bigtime. I look forward to wrapping this all up, and moving forward as one team. A very strong and motivated team. See you all soon, I hope.

I don't think that is 100% correct. The LAX Chief Pilot took a USAir B767 to Honolulu sometime in the early '90's on a proving run for USAir.

PI did the Proving Runs to get the 180 exemption for the 76. Originally it was just a mere 120 from land. If something had happened since that I am unaware of, I stand corrected.

Did he beg and plead? You make it sound as if he did.

US Air flew Penn State out to HNL in the early 90's for the Aloha Bowl. We thought at that time we were going to get the route. It went to United, as if they needed another flt to HNL. I know that, because one of my freinds was based at Pearl Harbor and he saw one of our 767's out there. He emailed me asking if we were flying to Hawaii already.

You seem to have me confused with someone who works at HP. I'm a US customer.
