Is it against any US or FAA policy to take videos during taxi and takeoff? I thought that all electronics had to be off once the door closes.

Is this a change in policy?

It is not allowed and all electronic devices are to be turned off and stowed per the FAR. However, many people hide them or put them away while flight attendants are doing cabin checks and then take them back out. F/A's are not police officers and their jobs only require that they instruct passengers what to do, not physically force compliance, so most will tell the person to turn it off, if they do they do, if they don't they don't.

Thanks

I fully understand that the F/A’s are not the police and should not be expected to be so, but I also understood that failure to follow the instructions of a crew member is considered a punishable offense. I also understand that some folks just have a problem with following instructions and abiding by the regulations.

Does any one know what the penalty is for failure to follow a crew member’s instructions?

Would this have anything to do with my website, l4pi?

And what exactly IS the point of showing us a video of the safety video???

But wouldn't it be great if we could physically force compliance. Just think about it. What a concept. "Your going to need to take your seat, Now. Thats for your safety, believe me." That might solve a few issues. Oh well, we can dream. Safe flying to all.

If I wanted to be a cop, I would have been one. Sadly, many FA's think they are, and they only embarrass themselves.

And luckily, I am not one of them. I for one, have never embarrassed myself or the company I represent. You need to get that can koozie that was put out years ago, possibly before your time, but it stated the true definition of a flight attendant. I could send you one. It's pretty funny. Kind of like that shirt that said, " flight attendants are here to save your ass, not kiss it". Matter of fact, you say, "If I wanted to be a cop, I would have been one", so if you wanted to be a baby sitter, bartender, psychologist, traffic cop, mediator, teller of tales, you would have been those to, I guess. But wait, that is what we do, so cop falls in there also.

Cute slogans. See, it's that "militant" attitude that many FA's have that makes people just laugh at them. Thanks for proving my point. 😉

How do you know that I am not a bartender or a psychologist or a mediator, or a baby sitter?

I could really care less what you do on the side, as long as if we work together, you pretend to be a flight attendant. It's not just the "militant attitude" that they get laughed at for, and trust me, I don't get laughed at, there are numerous reasons. Open your eyes, and you will see. As long as you have a healthy mix of militant and jolliness, you should be ok.

K thanks for the heads up. I'll open my eyes next time, Sarge.
