I just wanted to start a thread to welcome back those flight attendants who are returning to US Airways today. I hope training is going well. Everything is different from before but you will get into the swing of things before you know it. If you have any questions or comments then you can post them here and we will answer them for you.

Actually they adjustment for quit a few in training today will be VERY easy, because they were out west for the last yr or more and I personally know a few that just left the line out here a couple weeks ago to go back and now that were all procedure wise on the same page, shouldn't be that big of a "change"

Trust me! If they have been away from US Airways East for a few years like I was, there will be some adjustments. Things have changed drastically, and I am not necessarily talking about the new procedures either. 😀 😛 😀
I am happy to see some new/old faces! 🙂

So now the easties have to retrain returnees so they don't get themselves in trouble with the morons in Tempe ( Not trying to denegrate actual diagnosed morons by comparing them to the screwups in Tempe.)

It is fairly truthful to say that Tempe grades everyone by what happens in PHX. Like setting rules based on some fantasy world, it ends up presenting severe logical inconsistencies when applied to different domiciles. Been there, done that. Looking forward to the day that PHX gets downsized into oblivion, even as PIT, the "mecca" of the last decade, fades into insignificance.

HP Root Beer, fizzy for about five minutes, or less. Celebrate while you can, biotches. and if you are able to "can a biotch", you are certainly in a different world than me. Heh, heh.

LOL, the LTO alone is going to make their head hurt.

Welcome back!

I too add my welcome to all returning---we need you here and hope you stay !!!!
Here's a sad note though and I'm sorry if I am being a downer----38 of the 90 that said that they would be back have actually chosen not to return now. Some had medical reasons and others did the math. When they multiplied $20 per hour X 73 guarantee they came up with $1460.00 per month. After taxes, who can live on about $900-$1000 per month, especially in those bases ? I think they figured out that they can't afford to live in BOS, DCA or LGA on this salary. So, they said they would come back and now it's not economically possible. Since they took the initial call back, they now have to resign and lose flying benefits which I think is so wrong.
This company needs to realise that in order to keep people in the higher cost of living bases, they are going to have to increase the wage for those bases.
Now LGA and BOS are still short after the famous "base balancing" displacement debacle and are offering TDY from PIT to LGA and from CLT to BOS for the month of June and most likely July. TDY costs the company an average of 13K per F/A......do you think they'll EVER get it right ???? I don't know if they will be offering another recall or not, but for those who are still out, think long and hard before coming back here. You may be better off wherever else you are and still having flying benefits.
Just my opinion

With recall numbers in that amount maybe the time has come for Management (who doesn't appear too willing to SHARE the Wealth) to consider closing BOS/LGA/DCA. It is only a thought.......IF FEW employees want to be based in those cities (due to financial constraints) and most of the crew members commute there anyways, closing 1,2 or all 3 makes sense. With all the cuts and work rule changes in the last few years SOMEONE NEEDS TO WAKE UP and REALIZE the industry ISN'T what it used to be. (There are many that WANT to COME BACK but can't afford to do so, unfortunate).

USSNARK –

Where do I begin about how wrong your post is to the professionalism of our career? Calling PHX based flight attendants morons, denigrates, and screw-ups is totally uncalled for and not needed. If it was intended for management; - I personally do not feel that we are running in the correct direction for our airline but name calling never help either. As for wishing harm to any flight attendant in any base whether it be Pittsburg, Philadelphia, Boston or Las Vegas, or Phoenix is flat out wrong. If such downsizing or base movement was done it would not only effect flight attendants but pilots and also moral not to mention the hardship that would accompany flight attendants financially. I find it shocking that you would wish Phoenix to be closed or be downsized into oblivion since some of the most qualified flight attendants out east would like to be closer to home ( not all but some) I do not understand why you would wish harm to any flight attendant? Why? I have never heard any west flight attendant jumping for joy that any temporary duty assignments/base movements are taking place in Pittsburg or that some of our extreme qualified flight attendants are being uprooted from there roots in Pittsburg and moved around our network. As for your co workers (and not some red headed step child as you write) we as phoenix based flight attendants do the same policies and procedures as our counterparts out east and we do it a hell of a lot cheaper….

Your anger and resentment toward base changes, pay and benefits reductions should be aimed at management and your union officials not by attacking your right hand (your co workers on the west). We have done nothing wrong to you and you all ready have your date of hire, your non rev classifications, your ability one day to change our lives with our schedules. What more do you want from the west employees. If it’s our blood you’re asking for then you are seriously need to re-examine your feelings and emotions. I for one think that my west co-workers as well as my east counter parts are extremely qualified and worth pay raises and benefits as well as compensation for many past company indiscretions. I also feel that board as well these sites creates more anger and resentment with each passing day.
I also feel that your hatred toward the west employees will only hurt you in the end. I shall leave you with a quote… my good brother/sister on the east;
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Holding on to anger, resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles, a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth. Forgiveness gives you back the laughter and the lightness in your life. “– Joan Lunden

“Speak when you are angry – and you will make the best speech you’ll ever regret – Laurence J. Peter

As for how I personally feel toward you USSNARK –

May your day get brighter; I also hope that today you find your peace with the issues that you feel has wronged you professionally, spiritually, and financially and find your inner peace with this merger.

Nobody hates west F/As, they hate the cheap regional-minded management and the jinky-janky low class culture they try to force on us.

Lets get back to welcoming back the real US Airways flight attendants coming back on June 1st!

If this company had any integrity (I know, they dont) they would hurry up and merge the contract, halt hiring new America West people and bring back thier F/As they already have. Call them all back, offer buyouts to senior people and let the invols take thier place. This company is great at creating flight attendant jobs for express carriers and America West but not US Airways.

If 38 changed thier mind, are they calling 38 more? There are still people who haven't been reached as far as I know. There's quite a few MAA people I remember with 2001 hire dates that are not back yet. A lot of them lived in DC and NY. Are they just going to shift people around or fill those 38 positions?

Yah, that makes lots of sense. Instead of paying your employees a livable wage, just close the expensive bases! Brilliant....

Back on topic, welcome back to the returning FA's!!

frontline employee here. just to say welcome back the furloughed employees. we NEED you big time. you folks inflight at US are the BEST. you have your moments like us frontline employees do. yeah and please stay.

Actually, this is US Airways philosophy with its Piedmont subsidiary. There was a recent article saying they like to keep crew bases in inexpensive cities where at least three aircraft RON. Instead of basing in Philly or Dc, the crew bases are in places like New Bern, Salisbury, Harrisburg. The exception of course being New York. In fact the article said New Bern doesn't have the three a/c anymore but they keep it because crews live there, it also ideally keeps turnover low. Obviously Piedmont is a smaller operation, but interesting nonetheless.

Wish you were coming to PHL to move me up a number but it's still great to have you back on the property !!!! Welcome Back !
