Couple of questions in anticipation of what is likely to be my last recall later this month...

1) Where is the training center in relation to the airport?

2) What's the lowest nightly rate that I might find around the airport (has to offer transportation to and from the training center)?

3) How's the commute from either Mesa or out towards Luke on a normal type commute schedule (into the training center)? Is it possible to be within a 30 minute drive?

4) Any areas to especially either look at or not consider as far as housing goes? I'll have one in elementary school.

thanks,
Larry

The traing center is right in the airport where the employee bus drops you off. Very esy access. Holiday Inn Express or Motel 8. DON't stay on 24th street OR the Sterling Suites whatever you do. Hookers and drug pushers. As long as you give yourself enough time on the freeway Mesa is fine but rush hour is a bear. 30 minutes is pushing it during rush hour. PM me and I'll try to give you some more information🙂

-The training center is 5 minutes west of the airport terminal 4. A shuttle for employees runs on a request basis. All in all, the airport is pretty much right in between corporate headquarters to the east (10 min) and the Flight Center (training) to the west (5 min).

-Country Inn and Suites near 52nd st/University seems to show up at the training center often and offers a decent rate (40.00), but there are others, just don't know them.

-The drive from Mesa (to the east) and Luke AFB (to the west) depends on time of day. From Mesa, count on 45 minute minimum commute mornings and evenings. From Luke, count on 1 hour drive time.

-Elementary school locations will simply depend on your budget. You may have to ask about schools to someone with kids younger than mine. The main centers near the airport are Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Tempe. Chandler and Gilbert start to move a little further out, but offer pretty good schools.

Hope to see you in Phoenix. Get out of the madness of the East and come out, relax, take in California, Hawaii...and chill out and have fun while at work!

Do they make you practice the "Stepford Stare" prior to working a gate?

Have any more personal insults UWCactus??

Now would be the time. Why wait?

Oh and by the way did you ever have asignificant person in your with a child with a chronic disease like Crohn's?

Piney...

I think that comment to UWCactus was pretty uncalled for...don't you?

Why must you always be so nasty? You always have to put down the US/west people especially. WHY?
Fact is this....west folks are by and large nice, decent people who are not bitter and jaded and maybe that is why you dislike them? Seems like you are then the one with the "issue"?

Better yet....I think now that it would be best if you went and took your biz to another carrier! Pretty sure we don't care to listen to your bi***ing anymore!!!!
We have all been listening to your threats to leave US for a long time now and perhaps it is now time?

The days of carriers' bending over sideways for FF's is pretty much over and some folks have just not figured it our yet I guess. I suppose it is hard to grip the reality that the US airlines are not going to kiss biz travellers butts anymore....get over it!!
🙂

Walk a mile in my shoes before you critisize.    😛

Your response was totally uncalled for. You will never get anyone to take you seriously with an attitude like the one you have. Take your business elsewhere we will not miss you.

Thanks Rose. I will def stay away from the S S. I had a bad experience a couple of years ago when I moved from CLT to GSP and stayed in some sort of budget suites and it was the same thing. Fortunately only lasted 3 seven day hitches. And the hotel thing will last until we sell our house here in the Dallas area.

And comparing drive times, a similar distance in Dallas could take an hour on the toll roads and maybe 90 minutes on the "free" ways, so that doesn't sound too bad.

I may have questions for you later, after a visit out there to check things out.

thanks,
Larry

Bite the bullet and rent a place at the Villagio at Tempe, You should SEE the pool on a hot weekend. You really should see the pool.

It was 114 when I was out there last weekend. At least it was a dry heat 🙂 .

It's not as bad as it sounds and there are some killer brewpubs in PHX! Traffic on I-10 ws pretty bad around rush hour but that would be true in any city. Looks like a nice place.

If you're used to driving in Dallas, the commute in PHX (at least from the East Valley), ain't so bad. Interesting, though, when you let people in front of you here, no one waves 'thanks.' And very few people let you in (altho not as aggressive as D.C. or some other cities). You just have to kind of force it.

That said, I'm happy as a clam with Chandler schools. Would put them up against Richardson, Plano, Colleyville.

sleep inn is also on 52st and university shuttle available also $40 with airline discount. Breakfast in the morning very nice I recommend here.

The Clarion at the tech center is nice, has free dinner/happy hour, free hot breakfast, and free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. It is 45 out the door for US employees, rooms are clean, A/C works, beds decent, microwaves and fridges in each room. PM me for the phone number.

And piney, look at your damn board card to get the connecting gate information or read the monitors in the airport just like everyone else. get over yourself, no one cares anymore!

I live in north Phoenix - lots of nice places straight up the 51 - I make it to or from in 20 to 25 minutes depending on time of day - check it out
