What's new

Working in PHX

Get out of the madness of the East and come out, relax, take in California, Hawaii...and chill out and have fun while at work!

Like you would know anything about California or Hawaii.

You don't make enough to live in either place, unless your mommy or daddy can afford to help you out.

Well, I guess I just overlooked this thread. I'll delete the other post in the new thread I started....here's what it said:

I go out of town for a couple of days and when I get back my thread's gone!

What's up with that?

Oh well, I found that all I remembered about the PHX area to come back in a great way. If I take this last chance at coming back I'll definitely choose west over east, that is, PHX over CLT. I really thought that Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler would offer a great lifestyle. Of course the one place I liked the best was all the way to the end of Mesa and a relatively long drive into the training center down loop 202 (the north one).

As for the training center. Wow, very nice and I received a very warm reception. Thanks for that.

And as for the heat....well, I must be crazy, but as usual I loved every 112 degree minute out there. Now I just finished walking my dog here in dfw and am sweaty and I think it's only like in the low 90s. It's a dry heat out there, you know?

Now to decide on renting or buying....rents on a $350K home are only around $1,800 a month versus something like a $2,600 or $2,700 mortgage. Probably rent....maybe there's a possiblity that my job might not be that secure, no?

And finally, anybody out there with a really burning desire to be Deion Sander's neighbor? PM me and we can maybe arrange that!

thanks again for all your help last week,
Larry

I live in North Central Phoenix. Just off the 51 highway. It only takes me 15 max to the airport. Traffic is only bad mid morning and late afternoon. The area is great, and the market has gone down a bit, so it is real good time to buy. I hate the summers. If I didn't fly for a living I would not live here, no way! It makes it better that I can get away. The winters are wonderful, and can be cold too, believe it or not. Everyone lives out in the East Valley. I would stay away from there. Way, way too conjested. Central Phoenix is great, the light rail is almost done. Finally there will be a sense of a real city, community, etc. You can stay at the Twin Palms by ASU. 5 minutes from airport. They offer a 40.00 to all airline I believe. Not the nicest place, but cheap, and good area of Tempe. Hope that helps!

And by the way the lightrail will connect to the airport. Streches from North Phoenix, Central, Downtown, direct express to the airport, Tempe and eventually Mesa. Great way to save gas money if you live in these areas. I also don't recommend living in West or South Phoenix, crime is really bad, especially car theft, buglaries. North Scotsdale is nice, but very pricey. Good luck, and welcome to the desert.

Larry;
I'm not sure what position you are being recalled for, but there are also several crash pads that you may be interested in for temporary digs.

I can forward you information on notices in the pilot crew room. Just message me via this board.

Welcome to the valley of the sun!

That comment while out of the blue was very similar to the one "it" used on me.

So having just come back from dinner and a wonderful F/C flight to DFW I decided to respond in kind.

That's wrong. I shouldn't allow him to "get" to me.

That said I would like to apologize to the entire board, NOT for the part directed at USCactus, but to the rest of you who should not be subject to the temper tantrums of two theoreticly grown adults.

Next time I have the desire to rip "it" a new one I'll take full advantage of the PM function.

Did you ever just hit the <submit> button, go to bed and then when you wake up say "Ya knowwwwww I shouldn't have done that"? Well this would be one of those times. 🙁

Sorry to all of you. His prior equally nasty comment got to me. Alas I'm human, I made a mistake and I'll make more, the day is young and opportunity abounds. 🙂

SCREW EVERYONE, Piney!! You were correct in being angry. UWCactus and many westies have this impression of the east and his/her stereotypical uptight east/layed back west comment was what was uncalled for. I have lived both east and west and can tell you I ran into plenty of uptight west coasters and believe it or not, I KNOW MANY laid back east coasters.

You had every right to be pissed off at IGNORANT comment and UWCactus owe the east coasters the apology for such an IGNORANT statement!!.

And BTW...until this company (ran by the west) starts running a reliable airline, NOBODY should be on you for b##ching!!

You are what you are, Whiney Blob. 😛

Thanks to all for the welcome and the additional temporary lodging info. I am expecting something from fedex in maybe the next 5-10 days. I'm just trying not to think too much about leaving a fairly good gig here in the dfw metroplex for a great job that will last how long? Oh well, I guess it's in my blood.
