Well, well, well,
First off the old saying ''The sound of silence is deafining'' apllies tonight. Alot of
people including myself were looking forward to hearing Mr. Canale speak. Alot of people includ-
ing myself were looking forward to the oppurtunity to release our frustrations verbally if not
physically on the IAM. Well, well, well, we were given the oppurtunity to do something better.
We stood as a UNION, we stood as ONE. Tonight under the guidance and overall recomendation
of the workforce we asked Bob Boland (pres. of 1176) to speak for us in a more civil tone than
any of us could probably put forth. With that Bob asked Canale three questions....1. Do you feel
that this TA was a good agreeement even now ?.......2. Seeing how it was voted down overwhelmingly
do you feel you owe this membership an apology ?..........3. Seeing how the membership has voiced
thier concerns will you listen and apologize for the proposal you brought back ?.....Canale after taking
off his coat and attempting to roll up his sleeves sat down waited for Bob to finish and without blinking
an eye responded .." Do I think this agreement was a good choice ''YES''. ..With that Bob said I think I've heard enough. The UINION the workforce stood as ONE and exited the hall to continue the meeting
without the members , we felt didn't belong. We stood outside of the hall we pay dues to finance ...we
stood outside of the union we are a part of and realized the hall is just a structure the title union will
follow wherever WE go. We are the union ,we are the whole. We ate food from the flat bed of a pick
up truck and it might as well been served on a white table cloth with a bottle of Dom on the side.
People were talking and shaking hands , people who had nothing in common now joked and talked
with each other as if they were old friends. We owe you some thanks Randy, you reminded us of what
we use to and should be...A UNION. Only through your arrogance and lack of careing did you awaken
us, and for that thanks. Now its time for you to move on...My thanks to the people of PHL youv'e re-
instilled my hope. We blew out the perverbial IAM candle with one ''silent'' blow....Thanks to all of you.
..............ohhh and BOB BOLAND my sincerest thanks . You questioned this TA from the start and
despite being the pres. of the local you voiced your displeasure to the proposal and answered any and
all questions. Bob the union is not the IAM ,the union is the people and youv'e always seen that. Thanks
again to everyone. I stand with you, be it inside a hall or around a barrell with a fire lit...and finally a
thanks to the IBEW your reps outside the hall are all good guys...Really, usually theres' one or two, people may question but the guys aking me to support the IBEW are all nice respectable guys in the work place........so thanks for being there.
Thanks
