Yes or no for the IBEW?

Please! Give up with the change of Unions. They will have the same fight ANY union would be up against. So, you think IAM has a personality conflict? Teamsters/AFL-CIO/IBEW. It's more than that. Ask your representatives for presidential office. Airlines and Autos and (is there any other industry) are BEGGING to be representedl

Like I said before, you can spin it however you like, you just assume these furloughed folks will participate---but the truth is NMB elections are very hard to win as they stack the hand in the companies favor---I just hope if you are able to launch an election---you can live with the results.....
Jimmy,

Where's the spin?? The only spin I have read is from your post preaching gloom and doom about a situation that simply does not exist. We are not just talking about an election but the type of election.
The simple truth is that in all elections that involve union raids with all the workers under contract, only one time in the last 10 years has a group [skycaps] voted out its contract. In this type of election, success rate is 99%.
And these elections are quite common. Presently, there are several union raids taken place just in the airline industry. Offhand I know of the IBT raiding the UA mechanics, and USApilotsomething raiding ALPA on this property. The way I see it, we can lay down our rights and continue having a United Airline Board of Director & Parker's boy represent us, or we can attempt to change it.

Further, the westies voted in union [1998?] with a 54% result even without a contract in place. To suggest they would have less participation now is unfounded and doesn't make 'good sense'. Also, over 60% of the east siders voted in union [1994] even though they didn't have a contract, it just doesn't make 'good sense' to suggest that all of the sudden people want to trust Parker. Do you think PHL would vote union out? PIT? TPA? CLT? LAS? Which station loves Parker? I doubt there is one. I mean, where would all these no voters be coming from?

BTW, the contract vote had a very high participation rate, for a contract ratification vote. Systemwide, the % of those eligible to vote was over 50%, even though the IAM didn't put out notice to alot of stations.

Nobody is spinning anything.

Say what you want Tim-----Hope you can live with yourself if it's not successful----because there will be a lot of people in utter shock-----

And if it happens I would not want to be you

Just My Opinion

Ok.....So this is how I see it. Everyone pretty much hates the IAM. Except for "cupcake". Not sure where he stands there either. There might be a call for an election there may not. Only the membership will decide that. Hopefully everyone will make what they think is the best decision based on facts and not opinions. I myself am not trying to sway anyone one way or another. I am not informed enough yet. The key word there is YET. This board is a great way to help others become informed. Keep the information flowing. The links really do help with any follow up on subjects being covered.

Jimmy,
What is impossible for me to live with is to sit and be content with the injustice that is taking place in the name of union[ism]. Keeping the 'status quo' isn't an option for me. I'm not built that way. Pressing forward in the name of justice and taking a small voluntary part in removing the obstacles in front of the masses is worthy. Fear has no place in trying to fight against alliances of corporate greed and Board of Directors from other airlines.

It's just wrong to allow the IAM to stay.

WE keep getting new IBEW members by the minute..... KIP & RICK L. On the clock @Old Country Buffet -KARP. TOM V.-DAVE P.

Status quo is what you have. Unfortantely, the I Am Management union is your company's bed partner and is the 'freind with benefits' for your lovely company. The choice is clear, you keep status quo or you sign an IBEW card for representation that is not shackled with United airline board of director employees. As aside, Boss Canale's love letter is very weak and a full Q & A for IBEW will be posted on a webpage, hopefully by Tomorrow night.

Tim,

I believe a better direction would be to pair up with an existing union on the property, the CWA/IBT. Hopefully a better definition of "on par" would come of it.
Look, pairing up with the CS union would give strength to the workforce. It would benefit both, now , unfortunatly, separate work funcions, by bringing in numbers.
Europe has a leg up on the states as all airport functions are under one union.
It enforces cooperation and should reduce the ineficiencies of the micro political (minute) membered unions.
As a side note, one must not ignore the possibility of a merger with UA (IAM), and all its concequences.

Unfounded? When's the last time you've come to work on the PHX ramp tim ????? We are losing this battle , do you understand how hard it is for our workers to stay on when the new guys won't see a raise from their initial 9 dollars an hour for roughly 5 years !!! the unemployment rate in mesa (a close city to PHX ) is 3.4 % .... I can go out and get another job TODAY making about as much if not more than what i'm making right now (and I have been here for a number of years) ...

You keep saying only one union in the last ten years has become decertified , well with our LOUSY luck , we'd be NUMBER 2 ... i would prefer not to risk it .

Everyone is saying what do we do ?what do we do ?…. Be patient , it’s not November yet ……

Tim
Jimmy says the number is 800. Perserverance says 350. Regardless of the number. My question is how do we contact those eligible to vote and make sure they know whats at stake. Encourage them to vote. I'm sure it would be in their best interest to do so.

Jimmy
I know a lot of people on this board and at work. I hear a lot of talk but not a lot of action. People grumble and gripe but no one has a solution. What do..... you..... suggest we do. Sitting still and doing nothing is no longer an option. I am open to suggestions. The IAM has done nothing but help but me in a bad financial sititation. Even they have their hand in my pocket. At least everybody else I pay gives me something in return. I never have been a big fan of unions. The IAM is strike two as far as I am concerned. I am ready to take a third swing. The worst I can do is strike. I am hoping for a home run.
I would have to imagine that 700+/- a few on furlough is correct. That would just about cover those who were furloughed during the outsourcing epidemic of 2005. When I questioned someone about why the 60 day furlough rule didn't include those already on furlough, I was told that it work break the companies back to bring back 700 people at top rate....B/S in my opinion. I'm sure you won't have any problem getting in touch with all of us on furlough to get a vote for the IBEW.

Spreading the word about an election on this message board alone is just about enough to keep many people informed. Just take a look back at the amount of info that was posted here during the last T/A voting process. If everyone here passes on some info to those on furlough who don't have internet access that they know, word will spread quickly.

You saying Kyle Barrett is retarded?
No last name was mentioned .Take it for what its worth. If thats what you determine, its in your mind. The word retarded wasnt mentioned either. Your the one mentioning last names. Lets stick to the subject about IBEW and stop posting last names an accusing.I would remove that post of a last name . Thank you GR94.

On the IBEW subject. I must say this is a very informative message board. Tim Nelson keep up the good work on the info & facts. We need people like you to keep us informed as well as many others in here. You are all doing a great job. God bless and good night. 🙄
