"So if oil hits $80 a barrel then the 757's will be fuel inefficient.
At $100 a barrel the 777 gets wiped out.
Then what???"
(The Reply button kept giving me an error page.)

Well, for Domestic we could always go back to the Conestoga wagon to run the routes and tell the Saudis to go jump in a lake.

(Besides, I'm sure that some of our more senior f/as have kept up their quals on the Conestoga.) Oh dear. Did I say that in my outside voice?

LOL....thank you Jim for youe awesome humor...if it wasn't for you this board wouldn't be worth paying a visit too..Thank god for some of the very few jr f/a's standing up to what is right..

I'm a jr. f/a, but I'm a senior person. I turned 61 two weeks ago. And, I'm all for people working for as long as they want if they can still do the job and enjoy it.

However, there should be some kind of a limit. For instance, the #1 f/a on our seniority list started flying for AA when I was 7 years old! You have to get to #60 before there is a f/a who started flying after I started college.

FYI...The senior mechanic at AA started 3 years before you were born. 64 years this year with AA...

That's incredible! But, then I have a friend in Birmingham whose father ran his own business in downtown Birmingham on a daily basis until he was past 95 years old. He finally "retired" when he (the father) decided that he could no longer drive himself to work and that it was no longer safe for him to live alone.

The old man moved himself into an assisted living facility, and immediately got a volunteer job at a hospital because he found that he could take one bus from the assisted living center to the hospital without transferring. He is now 105 and still going strong.

Personally, my retirement plan is to be a major burden to my nieces and nephews. It's a fine old Southern tradition to have crazy Uncle Jim in the upstairs back bedroom.

I believe in ORD, There is also a crew chief in TUL who hired on in 1947.

No.He is based at JFK.
From what I understand he is doing very well for a man his age.
I hope I never end up like the crew chief with 1947 seniority in Tulsa.God bless him.

...didn't they throw a big party for the guy in JFK when he hit 50 yrs with the company? I was a few years ago as Carty was there, as was the mayor and a bunch of other people.

Jim,

You should have a seamless transition since your employment plan is crazy Uncle Jim in the FWD galley 😛

Carty never showed for his 60th anniversary as Crandall never showed for his 50th. Bob Baker was there for the 50th and Greg Hall and Jim Little were the guest big shots for his 60th.

Thanks for the info. I was confusing his 60th with King Ed's retirement that Carty flew back for. I knew he flew in for something, should of figured it was for a twu officer.

Yea, Koziatek gave Carty and AA something of extreme valuable: A COMPANY UNION!
