You on the other hand has been given the East's
*Profit Sharing
*10% 401K
*Training pay
Just to clear up something you may not be aware of. We previously had a 3% 401(k) company matching PLUS a 7% company contribution to our 401(k). It was simply realigned to an even 10%. Net monetary gain: 0$ (unless, of course, there were actually idiots who didn't withhold at least 3% to a 401(k), which I doubt there were). It's still a good thing but hardly a gift from the East.
Oh, and thanks for the profit sharing. Too bad your side is no longer interested in unifying actions. We could be working towards a new joint contract right now instead of fighting over something that's set in stone.

Besides, who would approve a merger in which the majority player was going down? Wouldn't the smart money wait to pick up distressed merchandise?
Hmmm. AA didn't want to wait to see if TWA was going to liquidate. So two major airlines CEOs decided that it was, in fact, financially sound to snatch up a failing carrier before it actually failed. I'm guessing your smarts hasn't yet elevated you to the level of airline CEO. My guess is that if USAirways had liquidated (as most analysts (that is, people who know a lot more about the industry than you) were expecting) Parker would've gained nothing from it. DAL, UA, AA, and the lcc's would've benefitted most from USAir's demise. Regardless of how bad this merger has been for us employees Parker and the investors have come out way ahead. Since Wall St doesn't care about us they consider the merger/acquisition a huge success.

AWA320,

Nobody can do anything about the past, only the future.

Let's go over current affairs:

According to Garland Jones, the AAA MEC Rules of Engagement, by unanimous Resolutions are:

1. That there will be no negotiated integrated seniority list that uses the Nicolau award as a starting point (in other words, it can't be" fixed"),

The award needs no fixing it just needs people that understand their obligations and that by agreeing to enter BINDING arbitrations you knew the risks.

2. We will move forward with indefinite separate operations, and a separate and equivalent contract with the West,

I think you and I both know where that's going don't we? The company will never ever do it because it's not in the companies best interest.

3. We demand Pay Parity Now, and we will not participate in JNC negotiations (for separate and equivalent contracts) until we get it.

Well I guess that you enjoy being pounded. That action is completely outside of the transition agreement that your MEC signed but nowhere in there can I find the section that discusses parity, and if you would get it!! I predict that the east pilots will suffer a great deal for this violation and you may see TDY in east bases with west crews as a result of that violation.

4. The Rice Committee is meeting with both JNC's this week and will present "realistic solutions" to the issues facing the East and West pilots and Doug Parker wants a compromise.

Doug has stated to this mec more than once that the list is just fine with the company the way it is so your making the claim that he wants a compromise is incorrect...

5. The US Airways MEC has a pending lawsuit pending against the AWA MEC.

Will go absolutly nowhere and as your own atty has stated... More stupid moves that waste time and money

6. The EC is scheduled to meet the week of September 17. On the agenda is MCF funding and the Transition Agreement dispute filed by the company over the single FAA operating certificate. This dispute is scheduled for expedited arbitration on September 21. And, EVP Russ Weber will submit a resolution for the EC to forward the Nicolau Award onto the Company.

True that resolution will be sent and the EC will finally do the right thing and submit the list. Failing to do so will most certainly result in a massive DFR suit filed by the west pilots.
7. If the Award is forwarded to the company (which I doubt), this would trigger even greater USAPA support as the fence sitters would mail in their cards to USAPA. This undoubtedly enables USAPA to kick ALPA off of the East and West property by the end of the year.

It won't happen however but what would be the point? There are no do overs you know.

8. USAPA is very close to filing their NMB Form 1 and IRS paperwork, which could happen in a matter of days.

Stop talking and get'er done why don't ya??? The furloughs will be declared ineligible once the company dumps the list and we have already taken measures to deal with your numbers game. Did you notice the announcement of the flow thru agreement with PSA and Piedmont with the west??? Guess where that bunch of 2000 pilots are going?? You numbers will soon be without any effect...

9. Junebug's Wilson Center poll "spin" is way off base according to one EC member, one US Airways MEC Officer, and two MEC members. Nobody, I mean nobody can force the East pilots to ratify a joint contract if it triggers the Nicolau Award; therefore, either there is some sort of compromise or the two pilot groups wi l reamin at odds and separate for a very long time.

No his account is dead on!! Your pilot group is fractured in several groups but what's really interesting is the amount of people that a new union is not the answer and will not vote to remove them. That number is 31% so your claim of over 2400 ACTIVE member cards is false!! You've got a bunch of furloughlee cards that will soon be made null and void!!

History does not matter and the only thing(s) that matter are the 9 points above. Either they are effectively managed or USAPA will become the collective bargaining agent and the West pilots will see union "imposition".

You won't get anywhere near a new union. If I were you I would be focusing my energy on getting a contract that increases my paycheck by 20% or better instead of wasteing time and money on foolishness!!!

You really need to see the forrest inspite the trees...

Too bad your side is no longer interested in unifying actions. We could be working towards a new joint contract right now instead of fighting over something that's set in stone.

Death and taxes are the only things set in stone.

The Wilson Center called me a few weeks ago, I told them to take me off their list as did hundred of other pilots I talked to. I participated in these polls throughout the years, ALPA will do what they want anyways.

I am done with aviation soon, I will enjoy my last years making sure ALPA is gone, and seniority and longevity will be one. I will also enjoy the holidays coming up, anyone have some good egg nog recipes I can share with my peers?

Junebug,

Garland Jones is one of the brightest people I know who can pick a topic and debate either side. His comments were written "with purpose" and should not always be taken literally.

Instead of taking the literal intent, why don't you look at his comments and think what could be an ulterior motive. Maybe then you can understand the possible intent, but keep posting your comments because you continue to help the East pilots and I believe you're too (so far) to understand why.

Does that help?

Good article by Ted Reed.

Looks like there will be an election here at USAirways.

The USAPA Officers are going to meet tomorrow and there could be a press release and a big annoucement shortly.

As of September 10 USAPA says they have received 2,344 cards.

Ted Reed's USAPA article, titled "US Airways Pilots Veer Away From ALPA" is accurate and can be viewed by clicking here.
