SS, S.K., B.H. were among the many mangagement people down in CLT today to answer questions about this weeks fiasco with DP and LCC. They had all the printouts on why the company is doing what it is doing. I asked S.K. if the F/A's were going to have to inventory all of the soda cans each flight, and believe it or not Sandcastle wanted us to do this. He told them it would never fly. Good thing, can you imagine having to count each can every flight. Like we don't have enough to do...

I also brought up to him why in gods green earth we don't charge the $290+ dollars it costs to fly one passenger one segment. He said LUV would never match it. I told him who cares what LUV does. They only have an exact amount of capacity. Period. You can't put pax on the wings although some times we may want to. Even if we were to charge an amount that brings up the price near what break even might be, that would be a step in the right direction. This company needs to be a leader, not a follower.

If we have to inventory every can, then there won't be a beverage service because it will take me the whole flight to count each and every can, especially if I want to double check my count so I'm not off. 😉 😉

They have not thought this out passed first base people! Crew changes, overnights, late running flights, who turns in the money and how often. I am not going to carry around $800-2000 on a 4 day trip sorry. Ho many hand held will be in each cabin? We don't have the infrastructure to support this knee jerk reaction that is flat out stupid. And you're right SW only has so many seats for the next 2 years during their hedge. let them do what they want and we do what needs to be done which is raise fares and not nickel and dime these people to death. I say board liter everyonthing. COKE, DCOKE, SPRITE, WATER and OJ all in big containers. Cups, Ice and thats IT! It's meeting them in the middle and still saving $$$$!

I could be wrong, but I thought the original plan was for 1 handheld for single aisle aircraft and 2 handhelds for duel aisle aircrafts. I dunno, but for $2 for coffee they better be getting some party cup coffee cups. LOL.

It most certainly IS one unit for a single aisle a/c and two hand held units for a widebody. When f/a's are selling soft beverages along with alcoholic beverages and snacks we are to use ONE? How about the 757 where a f/a works out of the back? Ya see.....this is just NOT thought out and I'm not being NEGATIVE but a REALIST. They think NOTHING through. As for refills as cheap as it sounds Amtrak gives you no refills for coffee but the cup is bigger. Fine with charging but add a bit of value to the sale and people wouldn't feel like they were being ripped off. As this catches on over time passengers will simply buy a bigger bottle of coke in the Hudson News. It's the USAirways way........LESS for MORE. 🙄

It’s like free advertising to the Kettles; don’t fly US because they’ll nickel and dime you to death. Something to drink for a family of four would be $13 if dad wants a beer.

Like the IT department, they are rolling something out expecting the users to be beta testers. Do I smell failure? Again?

and, if one hand device on single aisle aircraft, what happens when it is broken; delay the flight, no drinks for the flight or will the FAs have to carry belt coin changers for back up? Will there be a test?

It sounds to me like the brainless spreadsheet people got another job in the sandbox.

I think Brancatelli would love to hear about this new idiotic move to change the business model (jerk up the price of the stock by a few cents).

Even worse, I was sitting OPR in PHL when Ms. Shamblin was there last Friday....in a very bubbly sort of way she told this F/A she was talking to that "this will be less work for you all because not everyone will be buying something !!! and the FOCUS groups will be meeting to figure this out."
My apologies to anyone in a FOCUS group but from what I understand, none of the suggestions made by that group have been taken and this will once again be all smoke and mirrors of Tempe pretending the employees have input.
Mgmt. came up with this idea and let it fly without thinking about it---once again. Why not just cut back to Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke and Water on all flights...if you don't want one of those, you don't get anything. Why not try that first before going to this $2 a soda joke???? On top of that? $7 for alcohol? LUV still only charges $4? I thought alcohol was a money maker for the airlines...now no one is going to buy it because it's so expensive.

If they want to charge for sodas, why don't they just charge a dollar? It's not going to break anyone's pocketbook and we wouldn't have to go fishing for change so much. Most people have a buck in their pocket.
