Replacing the TWU

with a

Craft Union!

AMFA is Close to Filing:

Here's the Proof!

amfa1.jpg

This is proof of the success of the AMFA card drive at American Airlines over the last 7 months. We have thousands of signed AMFA Cards and backing the cards are boxes full of supporting research that has been collected over the last decade that will remove names of people who should not be on the list. We filed for an election in 2004 with 9,327 cards. At the time there were 14,600 people working in the class and craft at American Airlines. The company and the TWU presented a list in excess of 22,000 names they claimed were eligible to vote. Do not think that a simple majority of just those working will get you an election. It will not! If it were we would have already filed.

It's time to put our cards on the table, we are getting closer to our goal every day!

Great news!! Yes these guys are more than ready to contest the list that the company/union will try to give to the NMB. Can't wait for the news release for the filing. I am still hoping it will be 1st quarter. Although I thinks it's a requirement to be done before the merger is done so AMFA can be in place to nego integration.
I would also like to tell the AMFA campain group, JOB WELL DONE gentlemen...

Great work guys more cards coming I'm sure.

I don't know how AMFA will handle the integration process at AA but with the Southwest integration with Airtran the membership got to vote on the method of integration. They voted for a modified dovetail in which the SWA mechanics and related received an additional four years occupational seniority.

If AMFA gets in, your SLI won't be done behind closed doors and whatever method gets agreed upon, you will have a say in it.

Question:
If the Reamsters catch wind of AMFA filing for representation can they also file to assure that neither will get the required number of votes and thus save the TWU? If so, can AMFA file and not make it public until it's too late for the Reamsters to file also? I for one am thinking this is the reason the Reamsters have not filed yet. Providing that they actually do have enough cards.

C'mon all you fence sitters get those AMFA cards in ASAP. You will also need to resign an AMFA card if you recently signed an authorization card from one of the other "catch all communist collective type unions" as it will have nullified your earlier AMFA card. We need at least 50%: http://www.dcemploymentlawupdate.com/2012/12/articles/agency-rulemaking/nmb-issues-final-rule-implementing-representation-procedure-changes/

I dont read it that way.
Here's why;
requiring that in any runoff election for which there are three or more options (including the option of “no union”)
The agency points out that the rule does not prevent employees from signing more than one authorization card.

How could you ever get to "or more" than three if you need 50% plus 1 and duplicates between two unions cancelled each other? Only one party would be able to get 50% plus one without duplicates. If this were the case then even in a merger there could only be four possible options,;
1. Incumbant Union that has more than half the members from airline A
2. Incumbant Union from airline B that collects enough cards from airline B to get to 50% plus one of total
3. Intervenor Union that collects 50% plus one from combined group
4. No Union

No one said it would be easy. If your posted quote is the case, then that works better for the AMFA drive. It seems that a few AMTs, in an effort to rid ourselves of the TWU - were willing to sign any card.
