I noticed that this week there are 3 jobs posted for AC appearance managers in PHX, PHL and CLT. A good sign the company is taking this seriously!

I also heard,

2 managers in charge of hangar cleanliness…3 managers in charge of break room patrol but they all answer to a director in charge of fresh coffee for the employees.

I kinda think we need to get the airline profitable first before we go hiring for such a post.

You don't think AC cleaniness is important? You don't think making customers feel aprreciated is good? You don't think holding contractors accoutable leads towards profitablility? Beside the only place they need "breakroom" managers is in PHL so the don't smash and pee all over everything!

Just another non-essential position, this same job could be accomplished by any supervisor that had the balls, and some backing by the company...why pay out $80k for someone to tell them to clean the damm airplane. Just do it. And Born Loser has it right...this will just create more none essential positions..SOS

Amen. They already have their own supervisors seeing to such things, reacting to issues made known to them by company supervisors/employees that very day/night. No need for yet another layer...or make that layers, as I highly doubt each manager will personally audit and critique each plane, much less RON birds in the wee hours of the morning, without themselves "needing" more minions to report to them.

Yeah, appearance is very important, but the very last thing you need are more suits. "...Culture change..." Yeah right

More "white Collar" Eye-wash.

U East got rid of all Utility with the exception of the 25 ea. that are assigned to PIT and CLT Base Maintenance.

Hundreds of jobs system wide were thrown away in favor of Fly By Night Sub-Contractor Operations..whom in fact have thier own Supervisors drawing a salary on U's tab to clean the Acft.

Lets see...Pay Sub-ontractors whom couldn't care-less about U's image and appeal. Pay the Sub-Contractors to factor in supervision of thier half-baked work force...then U itself has to create a Management position to oversee that.

I wonder why people get thier noses out of joint around here?..as this seems like nothing more than a continuation of U East's brand of stupidity.

Bottom line...if they are going to sub-contract , which they obviously are. They need to be getting exactly what they are paying for..Nothing Less...and without a multi-tear level of wasted money to insure this is taking place.

I'm confident that U has enough Maintenance Supervisors and Station Managers that can take a moment out of thier day to evaluate an Acft's cleanliness...and report any short-comings to one person...but NO , we have to create new White Collar jobs , that will in turn be nothing more than a bunch of "Yes Men"..and the results will likely be no better than what we are seeing..or have seen with the paultry levels of man-power and materials to accomplish what needs to take place in the first place.

Ask anyone. CLT Base and PIT Base cannot release an Acft from a Heavy Check that is anywhere near as clean as they were prior to Utility being gutted...and they damn sure aren't any cleaner coming out of Mobile Aerospace or Air Canada Technical Services these days either. No number of Management Position will cure this...but Accountability will cure it.

Well I'll tell you Phantom Fixer, I should've waited a minute or two before posting my reply above because you surely hit the jackpot with your post. Every word. I just can't believe nothing's changed culture-wise. They keep doing the same thing, and when it fails, they just redouble their efforts.

It isn't too hard to tell who's west and who's east here. Just a neutral spin on this. Maybe those in place right now, supervisors, station mgrs, etc., aren't already doing what some claim they can do or what they should do. Maybe the company should add those additional duties to those already underpaid, overworked people instead of creating new positions and give them more work that they can't handle. Or better yet, give them the additional work and responsibility and PAY them.

Well said, but let me add some to it please.
Some one needs there but fired over this brain fart of an Idea.
Lets see,we hire a contractor....then
We furnish the supplies, the vehicles, the fuel, pay for the damage they do to them, maintian the things for em,clean out the empty liquer bottles and trojans.
And give em a warm place to rest when there done.
In return we get filthy a/c,overheads covered in dirt, tray tables never toughed, pouches full of trash, magazines I wouldnt let a house guest touch there so torn up,awwww whats the point....
These cleaners are not our people,we cant do anything about them,if you complain, they just send em somewere else on the airport and put another lacky in there place...What in Gods name is a manager going to do.IF YOU CAN FIND ONE at 3 am.hahaha....good luck.

Have looked for posting on both websites and cannot find, please post link so may look at job description/responsibilities and $80k/yr salary.

It's an internal posting, and from what I saw is a Grade 26 salary which is stated as being 33K-56K. This is for a "Regional Manager" as well. It's asking for a degree with 6 years of airline experience, with 2 years being in a supervisory position. What I find amusing is they are also looking for a Manager of Passenger Service at LAS that gets paid a Grade 27 salary, which is slightly higher. You only need to basically have a few years of Customer Service Supervisor experience to get that.

I just love it! We #### about a/c cleaning... the company does SOMETHING about it...and we complain about that.

Isn't it interesting that everyone feels like they can do everyone elses job better. No way!

For once can't we appreciate that our concerns were heard and that someone is doing something about it?

Give everyone a break, and wait and see. And...stop being an armchair coach for jobs you are not fully informed about.

Doing just SOMETHING is not needed here, Doing the RIGHT thing is..

This company is STILL top heavy in management, Adding more is not too smart...

You "complainers" need to get a life, you would complain if someone dumped in your lunch bucket.

Thank you retiredman for proving my point so easily. Of course you have never worked in that department, however you seem to know what is best.

Are you a consultant to Bush also?
