CLT getting 2 new routes?

"But those changes will come on the heels of a string of route additions from Charlotte/Douglas" I wonder if this means that there will be more routes that follow these?

Better than no service at all. If the service is a success maybe it will be upgraded to mainline.
I have yet to see anything go from Express to Mainline, it does go the other way on a regular basis. Given the size of the Express operated RJ's today, they will operate them hourly before having to pay Mainline employees to do the job....Sad, but True.

E190's are great candidates for both routes, but I think this will more than likely be Republic or Chatauqua on the 170/175 E-JET.

Edited to say:

Routes I had in mind are CLT-SAT and CLT-AUS.

King, read back to post 4 (and others). The route will be operated by Mesa on CR9s.

CLT-AUS-SAT are routes we used to fly with the 737-200 and later the -300. U discontinued the service when we parked over half of the mainline fleet.

Those two routes were the carrot that was dangled for PSA pilots to accept the rates on 900s. We were told that if we got the 900s we would open those two routes and our quality of life would magically improve due to the longer stage lengths. We said no, so I guess Mesa got them. Go figure.

Why would they fly our own planes when they can fly the same exact equipment with a few less seats by a contractor?

And Mesa... that CRJ900 of theirs is the worst ride in the entire US code. Awful.

I think its great that we are getting CLT to SAT & AUS however operating it on the CRJ9s and by Mesa...what a sorry ass excuse of a regional...i would give sorry republic an excuse to get more 175s...

Does anyone remember before 9-11 that US was going to start AUS and SAT service? Does anyone know if that was going to be mainline back then?

I also remember that they were going to start Portland back then too but all of this fell apart right after 9-11

So you would rather be on a Piedmont 25 year old Dash 8/100?

Yes, it's a much more comfortable seat. The Mesa CR9s are death chambers. The seats are shorter than on other CRJs.

EMBFA,

You can thank HP management for the piss poor seats on Mesa's CRJ 900s. Remember, the regionals ONLY PROVIDE the aircraft, the mainline airline is responsible for the configuration & paint job. Dont' forget, Mesa also flies CRJ 700s for United in an ExPlus configuration using the standard UA CRJ seats.

So don't go bash Mesa for the CRJ 900s.. its how HP wanted it.

And regarding YV's performance, didn't they outperform US in PHX for most of the year????
