My understanding is that this time we will vote all at once.
I have a big concern on the voting. Every Station or Hub
must have equal access to vote. If it is substantially more
difficult for one group to vote that another then I belief
there is serious ground for a grievance. IMO If PHX
votes on site in is unfair not to facilitate this for PHL
or CLT. Who knows more about this?

For those who still may doubt the current peril we are all in just look at this headline from the Dallas Monring news reguarding SWA.

"Southwest Airlines Co. says its fuel bill will rise more than $500 million — nearly the amount of its profit for all of last year."

And that is with and average hedge of $51 half of current price. The rest of us are paying twice that. And if oil flattens out at current levels SWA won't make money next year! They certianly are not making money now on flying but oil investing!

While i don't love the terms , i accept them .

We’re back to square one , near as I can tell that’s pretty much the same TA we had before going into arbitration and LOSING …. Oh and by the way back THEN the price of gas wasn’t hitting new highs and the us economy wasn’t flushing its’ self down the tubes .

What are you East guys expecting is going to happen here ? How long have we been negotiating ? Tell me , as time progresses and this company continues to lose money in the next few years , do you think that will make them anymore likely to raise our pay beyond this offer ? Tell me as we will have more and more scabs hanging around in this country because the unemployment rate is gonna go up up up and away , do you think it would be prudent of us to strike ?

Do I love this deal ? no , I would rather not give up the field stations , but this is a matter of survival and while many of you claim your going to reject it , without the self interest of the COC blinding everyone , I think a good many will ask themselves “do I want to possibly continue working until 2011 without a raise ?†Some say GAS is going to hit 4 dollars a gallon this year , they might be right … I notice some of you on here are already down playing the very REAL possibility of recession , see how grand life is going to be when inflation starts to rise and your still making 17 something an hour , oh and did I mention the price of EVERYTHING will also rise ? ohhhh I’m trying to scare people with DOOM AND GLOOM … geez just log onto CNN and read the business section !!!!!

The only people who are going to come out ahead are going to be on the “new direction “ slate , that’s right , their about to become the new 100K club , and guys , you sure could dish it out , I hope you can take it too , because if this contract doesn’t pass the bucks going to stop with you . Of course thou , how much can one care about the little man when their making 100 K a year right? Recession , what’s that ? ….. look it’s not that I have something against the new direction slate , I don’t except for the simple fact that I believe your so far out there that you won’t be able to get anything accomplished anytime soon .

Brothers , sisters , people are going to try and parry most of my arguments by brining up your old friend CHANGE OF CONTROL , ah remember that ? your ole friend COC ? Wow how are you guys enjoying those huge backpay checks eh ? Snap out of it , read the court document , the arbitrator pretty much says the things been annulled , but don’t take my word for it , log onto our union website and read the PDF documents yourselves .

1 . The change of control has NO teeth , for those of you who are going to say other wise , I say to you , READ THE COURT DOCUMENT WHERE YOU LOSE .

2. The economy of the united states is heading south FAST , economic experts believe this will be a very bad recession .

3 . The new direction slat is full of hardliners , we have no section 6 , the company WILL not acquiesces to their demands . Without the threat of strike , we will have to wait until 2010 to strike at the earliest . Take a moment and ask yourselves ,how bad do you think things might get in the economy between now and then ? Are you going to be willing to strike during a period when you can be easily replaced because of the high unemployment ? doubtfull .

To our field stations I can only say that this is not the desired outcome that I would have liked to see , however , given the worsening economic climate in this country I believe that we have no choice but to accept this deal .

Lol..rest assured, I have earned my time in fleet service and have no hidden motives or meanings behind my posts. I trust neither Parker or Canale....or you. Take whatever you want from my rants and understand I just want to express myself. Regarding your first question, no I don't believe we are close to BK. Yes, a merger is quite likely, and given the times, maybe not a bad idea. { safety in numbers } You can list what the boys in management and the IAM are making in terms of $$ all day long, and at the end of the day, it's a moot arguement. If it's a protest vote you want, then go ahead, just call it what it is and pout and complain. I see the TA for what it is. Reasonable given the current climate and I don't see how you can overlook that. The company wants to make money - that's the nature of the business, and yes, at the passengers and employees expense. Otherwise, we will go out of business and you will still be standing there shaking your fist in the air to no one in particular rambling on about how you've been cheated. Good luck in your future unemployment...

No Vote = keeping the current garbage we have until God only knows when or getting a paycut in the near future due to oil prices

Yes Vote = a little bit better than we have now

It's simple guys.

Where did all these newbies come from? Do They think we are dumb enough to believe that they are all concerned F/S workers, who just happen to want to open a USAviation account today? Come on Canale we're not that stupid.

Here is a point that i'm sure that the class II cities dont like it the waiting around for 6 months to get to $19.00!
Also this a crap of a T/A 4 weeks of vac after 14 yrs? shoot i have that already except it took me 26yrs to get .

THE BREAKDOWN

Article 13 ( Sick Leave )

Article 13 (Sick Leave) Will apply to West Employees on 1/1/2009. In addition, any remaining
unused sick leave days from the Employee’s sick leave bank that were rolled over on January 1,
2007 and all unused sick days accrued in 2007 and 2008 by West Employee will be placed into
the Employee’s sick leave bank.

Interpretation:

Self-expanatory

Explanation of Example:

It pretty much explains itself, but what happened to the 90 sickdays I had with US when I got laid off in 05.
That would take me to the 100% club on OEI. I have only worked on the west for 2.5 yrs. Just another little sacrifice for the good of all? Maybe they didn't think of that! Read the TA thoroughly.....................

cross people always come out of the wood work like this , i think you need to listen to what their saying and adress their ideas rather than just accuse them ...

There are alot of guys on this board who've come out of "no where " remember all the new members who joined us around the last TA when the COC was in danger of being traded in ? hmmmmm

muircross

Are you for real....yes, I am a secret spy working undercover for Canale....grow up!

I am not going to give you my history except to say I am a 30 year veteran and am an East guy.

It's funny how anyone who disagrees with the negative propaganda is viewed as a traitor. I'm just a guy trying to pay my bills. After reading these ridiculus arguments for so long I had to join up and try to be reasonable. It's funny tho...anyone who disagrees with common sense wants to ignore me. I bet your next....

Rook....I believe we get 50% of our raise 30 days after ( and if) we vote the TA in. and the remainder 6 months later. correct me if I'm wrong, please

Honestly, guys... This doesn't seem like a contract that would BURY us if we voted it in, and didn't merge with another airline.

I still can't understand why profit sharing has to be excluded even though they are basically promising us that we won't turn a profit ever again because of high fuel prices hahah!

Wheels up you are correct about the raise.

Consider that an ok propisition, Customer service had to wait a year and their increases went in 25, 50, 75, and 100%

Just last December they were parody

Ahh yes...

The old "Bummer that you're going to lose your job. But I work in a hub, so it doesn't matter to me." argument rears it's ugly head.

Freedom--

Trying to rationalize your decision to screwover your field station brothers and sisters is ridiculous. It'd be refreshing for someone to just come out and say "You know what? I'm in a hub, and I got mine. Field stations? F**k 'em." Instead of these hollow words that get tossed around.

I'm sorry to attribute it to you, 'cause there's many on here that share your mentality, but here we are.

To everyone else---

I don't have a dog in this fight (except as a fellow IAM member over at 143). Just remember scope is the foundation of any CBA. Without it, nothing else matters. Period. Learn from our missteps over here at NW.

i didnt see anything about improvement of the sick pay it appears it got worse--3 days of 50%pay that shouldnt be. the 60 day rule should be eliminated all together if I were in a hub, that would a NO VOTE!
