I'm not interested in Canale's motivation or yours. An I especially don't need you to tell me how to vote. 19 years in this business tells me all I need to know. Speak for yourself...Your opinion is just that - nothing more

Wheels up --I agree with you.

I hate when others try to tell everyone how to vote.

The sky is falling....... the sky is falling...............OHHH MYYYY GOD!

Take all of the TA into account. Take the insurance costs per month, the sick pay or lack of, the holidays or lack of, the vacation or lack of, THE JOB PROTECTION OR LACK OF etc. etc. and if you realize a pay increase then vote yes. I think you'll find the opposite. You are all grown men but some seem like little kids
with candy being dangled in front of them. If you can't vote this contract down, if it sucks, then quit, go find another job. Walmart is hiring. You'd think this company was being run by Bush and Co. The fear factor is a strong tool for the weak of mind. I'd rather go into a merger with this contract intact than vote in a POS like or worse than the last one.

And for those of you that think that Mike Fairbanks and Dave Hall have any other agenda than the welfare of the membership then you are not even worth arguing with. These guys are the only ones that you can trust and if Cornholy doesn't want them around than something just don't smell right.

I know Dave Hall personally and he is a straight up guy and I know people that know Mike Fairbanks and they say he is a straight up guy. If they oppose it that's all I need to know. I will vote NO unless the company and the IAM did some last minute tweaking to make it respectable. I doubt it! History prevails!
As usual your post is right on.....anything other than complete agreement of the entire negotiating team should throw up every red-flag ever made.........I think the thing everyone here needs to really sit down and think about is the fact that this company will obviously be merging (probably UA) and it will be happening very soon (probably before our boy Bush and Co.-Insert Parker/Canale andCo.) are driven out of office.......

The fact of this matter is that UA ramp tops out at $20.11 not counting shift differential (yes they have still have it) and $1.30 more an hour for leads.......And just look at their vacation 5 weeks at 24 years and 6 weeks at 29 years...

http://www.usaviation.com/forums/index.php...l=ramp+contract
........read it here taken from the UAL forum....And I guarantee that they have other things in their contract the we can only dream about having.

So if you really think about it, this TA is the companies and Canale's attempt to eliminate our CIC language keep our lower wages and sh**ty benefits intact so the merger can go through allowing the merged company to again save millions of dollars on our backs while they lavish themselves with huge bonuses and 3-5 million houses we all would consider resorts for vacations....

So what we really need to ask ourselves here, with this supposed merger so close and the New Direction team soon to be replacing the Canale regime....we may be better off waiting the merger announcement and New Direction teams arrival, worst case scenario, we end up covered under the UAL IAM contract or we get a better offer from the company before hand.....

And for those of you out there that can honestly vote yes for a contract that cannot even be signed off and be in complete agreement of our negotiating committee, you really need to think this thing out.

And I would also like to thank Mike F. and Dave H. for exploiting our worthless District Leader. I also agree that if these 2 are not happy and comfortable with this agreement, then that's enough for me.

We deserve a fair and equitable shake in this company...PERIOD...We are not asking for the world, just the same industry standards that everyone else enjoys..

Please read the TA very carefully and base your decision on these facts......I for one don't want to be making $19.00 if we merge with UA and the UA guys are making over a dollar more than me along with shift diff. and other things we all should have..

This group has never been more together and solid then it is now, let's stick together to get what we deserve..

A "NO" for me. The outsourcing and 60 day rule language have to go. Try again. $19/hr is unacceptable, not to mention only 2 more holidays. Garbage, total garbage.

been sniffing the jet fuel too long? You're gonna quibble over a buck when West newbies are starting at 7.50 an hour, and you you're telling them to wait for what? "New Direction to Nowhere" that will take years to organize - and could be bigger bunch of crooks..hold off for a "better offer" that might not come. Go ahead, stick your head in the sand. I say it's better than I expected. I can't control what the the suits in Tempe are buying for themselves. You're gonna protest your way out of a job...as for me - I'll take it and if we merge with United, so be it.

I have bad news for you....this TA is no better then the other one we voted down...you do what you like, but I can tell you the the big HUBS in the east will not allow this POS to pass, sorry, but that's the way it is....

I do feel for you and the others, but those of us smart enough to see what's going on here, will not allow the entire group to suffer for years to come..

And what in the world is better than expected, they can move numbers around all day long.....but the end result is still the same....LAME

Is this TA going to be a one day voting process per station like the last one?

Jimmy--

You may be right, we may be merging with UA and we may be brought up to their wages. But how long will that take? Seriously....we merged with AW years ago and they still aren't near us in the East.

This T/A , ain't perfect at all, but it's in the here & now. I am an OT hound, the doubletime will help a lot, my personal sicktime will now be paid at 100%, I gain a couple holidays and a bump in my hourly wage. For me it's a YES. I am not going to quibble and wait for years POSSIBLY (that's the key word here) for a dollar.

Jimmy
If this TA is "no better than the last one" you voted down, why are you suggesting we wait for another offer? If you're so "smart" and know what's best, I'll pass and settle for Pit till death's "unacceptable" $19/hr. , 3 weeks vac, free travel, 4 ten hour work weeks, drop/trade flexibility etc and tell me where you can find that in the workplace today. Take that big chip off your shoulder, get real and wake up...or get left behind

I have just read the T/A, and given the current status of the economy and the airline industry, I feel this is acceptable for now. Waiting for section 6 in 2009 and then 2-3 years bargaining is just not worth the wait. Regardless of what you feel for the company or the IAM, they did touch on many of the sticky issues that resulted in the NO vote on the last T/A. It appears they bargained, we didn't get all we were asking for and the company gave more than it wanted to give. I have in excess of 30yrs with this company and in this business, so I am not naive nor uneducated. But, I have seen what happens to a when employees try to play hardball at the wrong time. If you remember Eastern you will know what I am talking about.

I am not going to tell anyone how to vote, you must decide that in the privacy of our own thoughts and how it may affect your family. I am still reading it now and as I stated, what I have seen, I personaly can live with for a couple extra years.

Regards to all

I left out one important criteria for a yes vote( or at lest to campaign for
it). #4. If you are not part of FS and support Canale.

I really was being trying to be facetious in my last post. We have had
the experience of a lot of newbies showing up at particular moments
in time to put thier own spin on the subject. Some of them have
misrepresented themselves. So we have to be careful.

But also in my post I recognized that there are catagories of self interest
that will benifit by passing this TA. I can't complain about them and
I think I do understand thier position.

Incidently I made that post before I read the TA. But it seems from first
glance to be exactly as predicted.

The statement Canale made about the companies not coming back to the
table with another NO vote is questionable. It doesn't mean anything unless
it is a signed agreement.

Thanks BF

sidenote #1 Question to those actually thinking the company is about to
go bankrupt: How much money has US made in the last week charging
AA full Y-fares to put thier paxs on US?

If you are only getting 3 weeks vacation you either have around 5 years or less then 14....Not sure where you fall, but in a merger, there will be many, many layoffs and displacements.....

I hope you are somewhere that has lots and lots of junior people to you, and never say never, the writing is on the wall and the company didn't put language to outsource all of those 18 stations in there for nothing.

I hope you don't find yourself either facing a layoff or transfer as many of us have just to get the here and now.....

Good Luck
