Where is Roach spending Thanksgiving? Did he ever work on the ramp at EWR or JFK when we worked for TWA or has he been enjoying the cushy IAM officer life?

Josh

and the military?

but what is the status of Northwestern University's football team? there's reason to be thankful there.

Kev has Sito weighed in on organizing efforts at DL lately? Wouldn't his department stand to gain the most dues payers?

Heroes, the whole lot.

Not unless you're a fan of mediocrity; they're 5-6...

Not that I've seen...

So what if it does?

so does a 5 and 6 record help or hurt Northwestern's football players' hopes for unionization?

Yes, because a roof over your head, 3 squares a day and a paid for education, isn't enough!

Kevin,

You really had to ask?

Once again he shows he has no idea of what is going on.

"We're one step closer to a world where college athletes are not stuck with sports-related medical bills, do not lose their scholarships when they are injured, are not subject to unnecessary brain trauma and are given better opportunities to complete their degree," said former Northwestern quarterback Kain Colter, who helped lead the effort with the help of the United Steelworkers."

How 'bout this........if your worried about any of the above, don't play football . And btw, where else is a player suppose to showcase their talents for the NFL and possible lucrative million dollar contracts?

And the colleges and the NCAA are making billions of those players and the players have all the risk.

Do you realize the colleges and NCAA were using the players names and likeness and not compensating the players?

college sports are one step away from professional sports.... it is not a surprise that multiple NFL teams are being investigated by the FDA for violations of federal controlled substance laws.

yes, universities are using colleges as disposable assets - but unionization doesn't solve the problem. we could get deep into the subject but it really has nothing to do with DL.

NCAA is a dying organization. Soon enough the power 5 will break off of it.

However I don't think the unionization in college sports will take off. Things like Title IX are really going to be a limiting power in what these football (and some mens basketball) players are thinking they will change.

Start paying football and basketball players the women's rights groups are going to be knocking at the door for money for them. (even though most women's sports are costs for Athletic depts.)

*note not a shot at women, some women basketball is profitable (or at least cost neutral) but most sports in college outside of mens football, basketball and baseball are loss makers or at best cost neutral. Things like football pay for these sports. For example at UGA, football makes up right around 80% of revenue. UGAA is a football heavy dependent program, places like Kentucky are closer to 50/60% football and 30-40% from mens basketball.

Sorry, went off on a bit of a rant there.

no its not. As i have been dealing with this season with a star tailback

How is it fair that Todd Gurley can't sell his own name but the NCAA can and make BILLIONS off of it (that Billions with a B)

Or do you think its fair that he gets 100K or so worth of a ship while the NCAA gets billions?
