SW....Err, EXACTLY, consolidation has made this industry a cash cow.

so, are you willing to cut your pay and the jobs DL staffs in order to be just like the rest of the unionized industry?

APFA showed the world what arbitration to market standard results in.

to think that you could retain what you have now with a union is delusional.

If you don't realize what you have compared to the rest of the industry, you should open your eyes to the real world.

arbitration isn't going to say "oh, since you work for DL, we will add on an extra 15% to what ever award you might get"

and DL has no reason to offer anything above industry average.

It might but the chances are far greater than the general market, not DL's desire to pay its employees more to keep out unions, will keep DL employee pay up.

I get the process. kthx

There is NO assurance that DL employees will retain their track record of growth.

Dropping down to "just average" could happen very, very quickly.

DL employees with a brain aren't taking that risk.

your profit sharing certainly is not.

if you think DL employees are willing to put that on the line, you are seriously mistaken.

Who said anything about arbitration? If you don't know how the process works, just ask.
Here Kev, let me help.

The process starts with current compensation levels as the floor. Status quo would have to be maintianed if a bargaining agent were certified. That is where negotiations would begin. If Delta were to ask for concessions right at the beginning of section 6 they would be in a world traveler of trouble. Any reduction of any current benefit or compensation without negotiating it with the newly certified bargaining agent would be in violation of federal law.

I am sure anyone who is so keen on labor's workings would know that. After all, I could visit a ramp break room and find that out.

well look who jumped in because he wants to talk to me.

it isn't hard to realize that when pay raises are going up at other carriers - and nothing is in writing for the next year, it takes NO TIME for DL to decide that nothing moves up.

profit sharing, after all, like everything else is not assured from one year to the next.

DL could choose to freeze all of the pay raises and profit sharing for whatever group chooses a union.

That is right now a 15% cut in pay.

No rational thinking DL employee will do that.

and they haven't.

Glenn Delta is above the law.
They do what they want....

above the law or not, DL's strategy has worked for far longer than you have worked for them or ever will.
