can anyone give an update on the Chairmans Convention , will Prez be giving a report in the form of briefing the membership in the breakrooms or will
there be a report given at the next union meeting. I feel that since our dues pays for this type of stuff we should be entitled to a report of what was discussed and whats going on
There will be no report from PHL, because their committee chairman decided NOT to go!!!! He's on the negotiating team, Hopefully he'll decide to go to negotiations!!!!

I thought it was mandatory that the chairman go after all it is the "Chairmans Conference" . If I get any info I will pass it on to you
 
Here's a question? if a bag scanner quits working while in the middle of loading a flight, say a 75, and then manually counts then retrievs a new scanner , which doesnt record the original bag count, and then later puts the incorrect numbers into the computer, gets called on by a sta mngr who informs that agent he/she be placed on level 1, thus bypassing the first step, a inital discussion/coaching, is that permissible? Can mgmt actually bypass the coaching and go directly to level one? Reason Im asking this is we had an incident like this recently and the agent filed a grievance against the mgr/usair.
 
I can't vouch for scanners. Here in phx a fellow ramper was placed on a level 1 (coaching discussion skipped) for not showing up to a flight on time. The case was grieved and counsel reduced it to coaching discussion. From what I have seen on write-ups, supervisors always skip the coaching discusion and start immediately with a level. I'm sure there is a behind the scenes incentive program management gives sups with the most employee monthly writeups. Incentive might be just for the sup to keep their job..you can see it in their faces how stressed they are. This was especially the case when they were overstaffed with sups. Managment and employees eat their own here!
 
in my station, you be completely shocked and surprised to see what people get away with yes including sometimes racial or threats. one of my fellow coworkers even had his life threatened and I personelly represented him when we went to the sta mgr office (its been a yr since this particular incident) nothing was ever done..no levels, suspensions, etc from the mgr who also lied to my coworker saying that HR was told about it when in fact they werent, and when they were told bout it by my coworker they did nothing Good luck to you folks in your station
 
Robbed, I'm sure it's all about "who that person knows" lol. Everybody always claims to "know someone" to get them out of jam. Or the manangment is scared to take action. On the bright side here phx managment has zero tolerance for coworker threats/intimidation.
 
thats good for your sta mgr. ours is,...well, a lame duck if you will. he doesnt care that half the afternoon crew are always late or showing up late for flights, others parking the aircraft with just a marshaller and no wing walkers. In fact the auditers have consisently nailed USAIR in my station repeatedly for it and numerous other violations. It still mind boggling how the sta mgr and his shift mgrs keep their jobs yet they have absolutely no clue how the company should be run. As for him knowing people in higher ups, well I can tell you he is a former AA person if thats any indication.
 
So what's the deal with the chairmans conference. NO report. Is that one of those top secret conventions that noone is allowed to tslk about after all it is our dues that's paying for it right

said agc I would appreciate it. Haven't seen one hear since last years elections which was about 10 months ago. maybe he can clue me in on what was discussed at the chairmans conference it worth a shot

Your own Vice President RR is assigned PHX, look on the iam141.org website for the phone number. Good luck with him being able to brief you, the guys coming back told us he wasn't there. The website has a good update on the chairmans conference.

Does union incorporate language into upcoming contract
How do we arbitrate a company policy that is not in CBA

----- I.A.M. Injury Reporting System
PHL Safety Committee presented how the system operates
Tracks injuries, equipment movement through system, and
Cause/effect so all union members can be involved

----- Mediation Process (after Step 3, before arbitration)
7 of 8 cases were ruled in favor of I.A.M.
 
Great news regarding mediation KO's ! FO doing a tremendous job in that area! !!
The only problem we are seeing is that the new chairman GA is not showing up for bargaining meetings and has no clue nor respect from our membership and what he promised us. GA is a bunch of fluff and will bring us dow in negotiations with his total lack of experience and lack of knowledge. WE WERE LIED TO. He is not respected by alot of us anymore. We see a disaster waiting to happen..

Good news for PHL, I heard there is a new election ordered by the International due to a protest about the absentee ballots. If this is true about GA, vote him and his team out!!! Before it's to late!
