haven't been around here for a while .took me 10 minutes to even find the ramp thread. my question is WHATS going on with negotiations I thought we were suppose to start
some time in july haven't heard hide nor hair of anything. and what issues are we pressing the company on

I saw something posted last week that there was some sort of meeting that had already occurred to get things started. Company stated it's intentions, as did the union, and I think it said formal negotiations would start at the end of the month (?). Hopefully someone who knows more could fill us in.

From what I understand they've had their first meeting in which introductions were made and the tenor of negotiations was established. It (to me) sounds like it's amicable so far, and we'll find out more as things go once they start actually negotiating I believe next month. Don't expect lots of information; you need to remember that all the committee and company reps have signed non disclosure agreements. It's also going to take a while; this type of thing does not provide instant gratification. There's also some strategy to what gets put out; we won't hear the results of the survey to prevent the company from knowing where we're easy to give up things at.

hahaha, you guys are toast UA ramp gonna run you guys over. I bet Delaney pays no respect to LCC ramp. Youd be better off with teamsters now, hahahaha, i see no respect for LCC ramp anytime soon. God luck glad Im with UA and we control this district

ooohhhhhhh I'll never be able to sleep now, .......lol what a dbag

And go ask the CO rampers about no scope language in the POS CBA, it is clear why the IAM, better scope than what CO has.

Would have placed this on the fleet outsourcing thread but it has been hijacked by armchair economists...

The Wings career page for fleet service shows full-time openings for ATL. IIRC, the ATL openings were not listed on furlough packages. Isn't there a freeze on these positions? The openings are also on the US Airways web site, so they are planning to hire off the street. Someone needs to take a lookie-see at this. This company will give you the ol' hucklebuck if you let them.

Nothing sinister here. ATL IS in the furlough packets. Hiring systemwide is locked until the furlough bidding is complete, but that doesn't prevent advertising for positions. The Company is making an assumption that not all ATL positions (and presumably others, don't care enough to look) will be filled by those being displaced. Looking at who's getting furloughed I don't blame them one bit, ATL will not be fully staffed by furloughees. This allows the Company to have a list of prospective employees to interview once they determine the headcount available after seeing the furlough bids.

Pardon me for asking, but what other cities were offered to full-time and part-time? Obviously ATL and probably, PHL, but what else?

So Ponders Jester.

I am directly affected by this recent announcement to discontinue Fleet at 7 of our system stations + the downsizing of LAS even more. Now that I have to live through this, I am realizing first hand how BAD our contract language really is. For those that are enjoying your raise in the hubs, you should feel lucky and fortunate that you will never have to suffer from the closing of a station (unless the company folds, but then everyone goes down). I wouldn't wish this process upon my worst enemy, it REALLY stinks. Goes to show that there really is no solidarity within the union of Fleet Service workers. You are either in a hub with job security or living with your neck on a chopping block and neither really cares about the next guy if it does not directly affect them.

Sorry, I needed to express that. To answer your question Jester, here is what was offered:

Fulltime employees can choose to try to displace to one of the following cities: BOS, EWR, ORD, PHL, DCA, CLT, ATL.
Parttime employees can choose to try to displace to the following: same as above, plus RDU, MCI, and PHX.

What sucks is that I would like to fill a parttime vacancy, but cannot bid for it because I am fulltime. Going to one of the Fulltime displacement choices is not an option either. It also sucks to know that within the past few weeks, PHX hired P/T employees off the street. BUT, the company says there are enough vacancies to accomodate everyone in the displacement process for the over 250 Fleet agents affected... HMMMMMM?!?!?

bagchucker I am sorry for you & everyone else who has to go through this. You do not deserve this.

With that said we in the East tried to get the folks in the West not to count the dollar signs & look at this pos contract for what it is. Every one who voted yes choose to give away jobs, Sorry.

Thanks. Its tough, because we all deserve raises, but for those at out-stations, a raise comes at the cost of their job at one point or another. .

Make sure you put whatever you want on your bid INCLUDING OPTIONS NOT OFFERED! If you want to transfer to say LAX put it down. You can bid for whatever you want, you just might not get it. Put everything down in the order you want it and put nothing on the bid that you don't want. Me, I'm probably going to the street, although a good case was made to me for going PT.

And BTW, beign a hub isn't necessarily safe. Vegas was a hub with 141 flights. Now we're going to 21 and my 13 years doesn't keep me FT, and barely allows PT.

i remember trying to tell the west folks via this board a long time ago DO NOT VOTE for this bc it specifically mentioned GETTING RID OF CITIES but they chose the extra dough up front and now bam those who voted yes for this pos contract that are being furloughed due to closing you got what you voted for this whole contract should have never passed.
