It's my understanding the IAM-FSA is close to a TA that will likely be announced before Thursday, January 6. The new labor accord will have an initial pay rate of about $17.50 per hour with other savings that will reach their cost cut target.

Rank-and-file reports indicate the AFA will ratify their new TA by a wide margin and the IAM-Trainers should obtain a TA.

It's unclear at this time if there will be a deal between the IAM-M and the company. It's possible, but most observers consider it unlikely before Thursday.

Like everyone else on here, he pulls them out of his back side......

The last time his "Rank & File" poll consisted af a few LGA agents, who would still be classified as Mainline earning the $17.50. He needs to talk to the rest of the system that will end up Expressed earning $12 to be a bit more accurate...

Well,

My observation is that he has been correct most of the time. Not all, but more than not. That would be the nature of interpretation and speculation, would it not..?

Anyways, hope that it is true, it places us that much closer to being able to get on with the plan.

If anyone thinks the IAM-M will reach a T/A before Thursday I would suggest you have a walk outside for some fresh air.

The only offer from the company is that of total capitulation to their extortionary demands or else it's abrogation thru the courts.

It goes like this: Vote YES and your job is gone. Vote NO and your job is gone. Either way you look at it the end result is the same.

HEADS they win and TAILS you lose. And I can say with the utmost certainty that the judge WILL see it the company's way.

Happy New Year everyone.

Yep, I agree that 320 pilot is "not all, but more than not correct" in his statments. But I still would like to know what criteria he uses and conciders to be valid to be able to make a statement that "rank and file reports indicate that the afa contrat will pass by a wide margin". If he is using interpetation and speculation he should state such. If he is using "reports", as he says, what are they and how does he recieve them?

The Maintenance Training Specialist have their own contract. And IAM-FSA is not at CCY today and they do not have an agreement. Their talks are ongoing again tomorrow.

I apologize; I just looked into the contract book and could not find the Maintenance Trainers. I believe I may have misspoken when I said they were under the same contract as the other maintenance related positions. It appears they are the only maintenance group that stands out on their own and not in with others groups on their contract.

-Thx 700.

I do not know, ask him...

But I would assume that the majority opinion of any group, tends to fall somewhee in between the extremes that tend to get posted on here... So when he says "Rank and File", I assume he applies a moderate opinon, or solicits the opinions of those in that work group that tend to be moderate.

Plus, much like how Tom Clancy writes a story, you can paint a pretty close picture to reality by gathering what public information there is, and then just applying common sense to piece the parts together.

Look at it this way, it is no accident that the unions have come to agreements in basically the same order as how difficult they are to replace. Pilots are the hardest, followed by CSA's/Res, followed then by the Flight Attendants...

Now In the case of the IAM's various units, it is a larger task to replace the the large number of ATO's and Fleet Service than the IAM-M. Because utility work can be replaced quickly by contractors/other work groups, and the Heavy Maintenance work that they want to outsource can simply BE outsourced.

Kinda depends on the IAM leadership, if they want to risk all of their member's jobs just to save Utility and Heavy Maintenance. Tough (or self biased) talk aside, I doubt it.

Heavy Maintenance is the majority of the workforce and Utility is 1,000 of the 4,500 Mechanic and related employees.

There is no way the IAM can takeout an agreement that will eliminate over 50% of the workforce, that is plain and simple, the members will not ratify it.
